Texan here. Before I was forced out by the flood of Californians moving to Austin I was told by a Californian who had just moved to Austin a few days prier that Austin is not Texas. Don’t tell me about my home state. Austin is very Texas. Yes It is very liberal but it is still very Texan it’s our state capitol for crying out loud. We use to be a welcoming state but it doesn’t hurt my feelings that Californians are leaving Texas. Californians are the worst!

If I ever needed to move to Texas for any reason, my place would be San Antonio... The Mexican American culture, gastronomy, and friendliness was something to really admire! Also is one of the best places in the nation for single men. Since ratio is better than most of the US..

When it comes to heat, the worst part of TX I experienced was Laredo.. It was overwhelming! San Antonio and even Houston were manageable compared to Laredo..

I love the warm summer nights of Texas. I love not having to put on a jacket ever during the summer. What I like least about Austin's climate is actually the winter - it gets too cold!

I travel a lot for my job first time I ever went to Austin was in 07 and I how nice it was I could walk all over Austin and not have a care in the world, as the years went on I see the change. Manor, Texas is a dump. Those that know, know that you avoid most areas east of IH 35 ie Kyle, Manor, Eglin, Hutto, Taylor, Buda, Pflugerville, Round Rock and most of Georgetown. The school system in Manor is below avg. If you want to see what is in Manor, just go to the junior high or high school. You will see enough from that to know Manor needs to be avoided. And traffic? ha ha ha ha ha

California is a tough state to match , especially when you have the luxury of getting from the mountains, deserts, city, suburbs, and beaches all within 3 hours.

Where is the best for operating food truck and living a family and education? Austin or Dallas?

I’m from California and I love Texas but I would describe Austin as “California with all of the drawbacks but none of the benefits.”

I just hate the generalizations. I love my state. I live in Kern county, a rural area... I paid cash for my house, no mortgage. And I'm an hour outside Bakersfield, in a national forest. 3 hours from the beach, like 2 hours from LA. Yet I have lush forest, and a river two blocks from my house... I'm in California... I hate that everybody thinks LA is all of CA... It's LITTERALLY 1 city. The majority of the state other than san Diego, San Fran, & la, the rest of the counties are red counties! Tons of farms and oil rigs, rural AF. Cheaper too.

Saving time: Austin is not Cali. Cali is not Austin. Austin is lower cost for a reason. Cali is a higher cost for some reason(s) including extra Cali tax!

As a Realtor how many people do you think are looking at what is going on and thinking "I have to get out while I can still get a lot for my house" or I will never be able to go back to California? Do you think a lot of people OVERPAYED to get here and are trying to escape the REGRET if housing goes down considerably to what they paid?

M husband and I are trying to figure out where we want to move. We want to live in the country but within 45 min drive of a major city. What area's would you recommend outside Austin? We are not looking for anything above $200k
