UP 4014 "Big Boy" Returns to California
6 years after it left California and the restoration began, the Big Boy #UP4014 makes his triumphant return to California after touring the UP system!
Partnering with RailGiants in Pomona, CA, Union Pacific brings the Big Boy back to California for a special excursion from West Colton to Barstow and back! A two day event that cannot be missed!
Unfortunately I could not attend both days but only 4014's return on Wednesday and half of the excursion Saturday
Nevertheless I applaud UP and the UP Steam Team for making the impossible possible and blessing California's legendary Sunset Route with steam once again!

forgive the camera shake This is the best I can do as a one man army with a crazy mission to witness the Big Boy in action From catching it in Echo to witnessing the ceremony in Ogden it was an exciting adventure and I regret nothing Hopefully next time I will have more time to spend in catching 4014 in action but it felt nice to be there seeing it idle and moving equipment

Spent an hour railfanning Downtown Burbank station at it's most busiest afternoon hour with constant Metrolink and some Amtrak action.
