I feel like this show is what it has always been. You need only watch the very first season for clarity. It was presented as a "social experience". It was diverse and raw. The games were always secondary. Now we have troupes and semi-scripts. Today's viewers think it's about who wins. It's about scandalous entertainment. Like everything else out here.

I recently watched a movie called A Simple Plan (1998) which was about a trio coming across a stack of cash. Very enjoyable. I haven't seen any of those Planet Apes movies. The latest is being hyped but I've heard many critics claim it lacks the quality of previous versions. Each has to judge for themselves of course, but it wouldn't be surprising to agree and then conclude that this is just ANOTHER story that's been dragged well past its shelf life.
