Ascend 133x | Mercury 6hp Outboard Struts!
Переглядів 4,8 тис.3 роки тому
After a test run on the water last week I found an issue with shifting the outboard. There would be enough torque to jolt the outboard and flex the rear deck. This is how I went about trying to solve that issue. Stay tuned in the upcoming weeks to see how it works out on the water!

Was an exciting day to get it tested. Was a little upset that I had a limited amount of time to take it out on the water. I know where it needs to be strengthened and weak points that need to be addressed. Thanks for tuning in! Finally getting out of the garage for some testing!!! I was excited to get it on some water to float test it. was having some camera issues; getting used to having multiple camera shots and meshing them together, (Editing learning process) Also, I mentioned in the video that i wanted to try to remove the trolling motor while in the water which was a little difficult so i just hopped on from the...

Ok so this was a littler longer then what i wanted it to take to finish this part of the build. I had to go through some trial and error to get it to shift properly. In the end it came out great, just a matter of making it look good which ill go over that later on updates. Thanks for watching!!

Heres a short intro of what im working on, quite a bit more to go over. Looking forward to seeing you all here viewing the content. Hope you like what you see. Be gentle first time recording so im a bit edgy. Will work on the delivery in future videos. Thanks!
way too much work.
I would just plug them up 😅😅😅
Use scupper plugs.
Definitely pull that trolling motor up or you’ll have a bend shaft. Been there and done that few times on my jet boat
BEATIFUL sound !!! Boat not for open water
You should lower the seat to help you be more stable. Hobie has that problem. I am thinking of doing one also . I will be putting foam to stabilize the floor and rear tank well. Lower the seat that will help on your stability. I worked at a kayak shop did many kayaks. I was one of the first to do out boards lol.
Man awesome set up. Will look for more of your videos to see how you transformed into a boat :) and hope find some links on the parts you used.
In what fisherman's world is 15 mph "Extremely windy"
I plugged and sealed my scuppers and run dual bilge pumps is pretty much unsinkable
Why is every Accend video about warping, sinking, or some type of failure? You will never see one on the PNW salt, or even a rough lake.
You have done an excellent Job!!!!! I have a similar boat, with the same outboard, and I use it in the traditional way, but it is a little bit uncomfortable, your invention is outstanding!
Even if there were scuppers back there, the speed of the motor would cause water to rush in regardless. I installed ones that will not come loose and I also installed a bilge pump in the rear area just in case.
Where you go bro how’s the kayak?
Mate nice set up ill have to get one but if your going to put a petrol motor on it just buy a tinny
just bought one a week ago and when i stand in the front of mine I fill it with water very dissapointing
We no longer know anything about how your kayak is doing. Do you recommend that I do it the same as yours? Everything is going well because I like how you set it up. Please tell me something. Thank you.

Hello, in the end, what happened with the kayak? Is everything going well? I plan to do the same as you. Do you think it's the best combination? Have you had any problems with the motor?

14 dollar bilge pump
super glue the rope on the bottom of the plug.
Ocean kayak brand “scupper valves” let’s water drain, doesn’t allow water to enter from below. They are tight in the 123x but they fit and work.
Fake Gator head remote 😅
Man your better than me a trailer would have been the first mod for me😂
Hey man. Nice build. What kind of rear motor mount plate do you have on it for your outboard motor? Looks like the plate goes completely across the back of the kayak. Im interested in putting an outboard motor on my 133X.
Custom made from starboard 😁
Outboard = water in tha back. Nuff said.
Not honestly trying to hate. But bro...seriously if you gonna use a gas powered motor, just get a bass boat. What I personally see is a fisherman with no actually died in the wool fishing skills. Just an observation. None of this shit exsited when I was taught to fish. All them damn gadgets and gizmos. Now, will you out fish me? Damn right! I'm not using all that!
What is your overall take putting that 6HP on there? I have my eyes on a 5HP i think its 25 lbs... did it stress the hull? too much? thanks!
Can u insial 10 hp motor or even more?...thanks
How does the title process work buying these from Bass Pro Shops?
Hey, are you still around? I installed valve scuppers and glued them in with marine adhesive. It worked great, I was doing about 10 mph and no water came in at all.
Just a thought…the scuppers will only drain if they are above the water level outside the boat. It could be that with the heavy motor and gas tank the stern is dropping down so much when running the motor that the scuppers are at or below the water level?
Add pool noodles inside the hull and your Kayak won’t sink if you get water in the hull. It will just be swamped if you get too much water inside but at least it’ll stay floating.
Where did you get that Transom-Mount? It looks super strong
Nice! I got the same kayak that's crazy I want to see it in action!
Wingnut or trailer? Hm-m-m... Just hitch and go. You decide. Thoughts?
What deck plate are you using ?
Not a problem get yourself a 1”-1 1/2” round hole saw, (I did this on a 3,000 hobie). Drill holes all way they take two one on each side, get the thin walled pvc tubing or a black plastic fuel line size of the hole. Stick it thru, cut it off 1/4” sticking out from flush, veg littkepropane tor h now take it to low heat it will take it about 10 mnts each side but best lip of tubing up, I used a steel ball bearing, 1 1/8” round smashed pushed bearing on top of heated tubing flaring Tubing outwards cannot flare it out too much get some 1/16 rivets drill pilot hole river flare into yak after you applied jB weld marine around tubing under flares used 6 rivets, it squeezed the jB weld out and sealed so good I then applied a water seal 2-part mix and brushed it around it’s actually epoxy resin clear for table tops, repeat same price was in bottom but put a lot more flare nearly 90 degree angle, seal river reseal apply resin. Been like that for Two years going strong
Just an idea..what about cork, like a wine bottle cork, or cork you can shap
Add a bildge pump and be done with it
I rather put that 6hp on a hobie kayak PA 14
I didn’t see it but hope you have a kill switch otherwise very cool mods
I fished out of kayak in Louisiana 15 + yrs. ago in simpler times ...I looks a lot more complicated now ..Seems like putting a rifle scope on blunderbuss --but interesting ...)))
I had another kayak brand that did something like that...turned out it was a warped hull underneath from improper storage that caused the problem by pushing the scupper column's up into the upper deck. The damage you are showing in the video looks very similar to what happened in that kayak. I also agree with other comments that these kayaks are probably not strong enough for an outboard like that as its more strain than they are engineered to take...just my humble opinon. Good luck! Hope you solve the problems and get back to enjoying fishing out of it.
Freakin ingenious !!! My fix would've been so ugly and included 5 huge rolls of duct tape 🤣 I'm thinking of getting a 133X for the river and love ur vids 👍🍻🎣
I only have a 3.5 hp mercury, and I want to incorporate the struts like you have, but I don't want to drill into my motor, do you think it would work as well attaching the bars to the corner of the mount instead?
It’s better incorporate a higher triangular angle, which will be better for the thrust that the motor puts out. And spreading it out over a larger footprint so the support is not all in one spot.
@@thejuanderdude7911, thank you, I understand. I am also trying a brace on the back wall of the kayak, just above the water line, that received the motor shaft and stops the hinge effect on the mount. Maybe a combination of the two.
