cool video man, i do love a mine. beautiful area too
@ForsakenExploration thanks mines are cool got some abandoned houses to do soon when weather gets better but I'm mostly mines
@Gunniboysexplorers yeah nice mate
hi danny, cool video will drop you a sub now, we urbex in devon and cornwall. lovely part of the country
@ForsakenExploration thanks mate I live cornwall brilliant and stunning places to live lots of stuff to look at i will sub you back
@@Gunniboysexplorers thanks man means a lot, great video again
@ForsakenExploration thanks did one today at the same adit just waiting for it upload just digging bit more
@@Gunniboysexplorers yean nice mate
That's just a trial adit doesn't go anywhere mate! We dug that two years ago!
Job well done mate, always appreciate the help with my spinal injury limiting my digging efforts.... and there's a bonus just down from last one you looked at a smaller hole again with what looks like a telegraph pole submerged in there
Cheers mate the 1st one i will dig it at some point i will do the other one 1st as I have already started it i will look around for any more next time
@Gunniboysexplorers also further along main path, small fenced area with loads of branches and foliage covering it but could be more a culvert
@@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 I will keep eye out cheers mate
When you go past the Bit on your knees and there's the little cutout on the right. If you poke your head through, its actually a shaft going up 👀 good vid 👍
@ExploringWithConnix thanks bud yeah was going to go in but was thinking about the weight on the planks next time I'm in there I will have a better look i knew it went up but didn't realise it was a shaft
mate youve got bigger balls than ive ever had, i wouldnt have done that. Be careul and be lucky.
Fully submerged planks with rubble weighing it down... Screw trying that alone! Cool vid dude
@ExploringWithConnix cheers I'm not crazy enough to try them planks on my own sod that lol
@Gunniboysexplorers it's tricky enough to get past when the tide is out...Was dry when I visited a couple year ago
When we done this one shaz was stood at the end while I went over the winze. She turned her lights off and got 2 deep breaths in her ear both caught on video... spooky lovely adit
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 yeah it is a cool mine I wanted to cross it but because I was alone i was like I will wait for another day
If you go down to the next fenced area, theres an incline that takes you to that level with the shaft and then goes on down to 'Clapham junction' Good explore....
@@wookiesundergroundadventures will have a look next time I'm up there
All the fun is to the right at the cross roads, climb up the spoil and your into the stopes etc
Thanks for sharing buddy
@@carlhatton6315 that's ok
That shaft you found on the second side of the bridge is i think Lucys shaft. My 2 kids and i went exploring there last summer, found it and the bricked up adit. If you follow the path after the buildings it eventually takes you to Grenofen Bridge.
@@keithdawe8521 yeah that's it
I went looking for that last one but failed to locate it...saw all the other features that side of viaduct but gave up... Did find an old birdwatchers hide though
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 yeah we found that bird hide out it's towards the bridge follow the gully from bridge you will come up on it
Good Job 👍
Didn't even know this was here just looked in when I was in slow traffic and thought got to check that out my gran and grandad own leg o mutton garage
Great video keep em coming ,many thanks .
@@biffa1234100 thank you
Once again cheers for the memories , walked all over that part of Roborough down never noticed any mine works?adits etc just all those humps, bumps and gullys you mention, and lots of quarrys . there is what appears to be the remains of an old trackway/holloway runs parallel to the tavistock rd that i like to imagine was the original yelverton to tavy rd before the current one was laid , that terminates in a large quarry now .The area was home to Yelverton airfield in ww2 and theres a few reminders of that history to be found up on the top by leg o mutton . and further over towards the river lots of old boundary walls from previous farmsteads, long gone. anyway cheers mate I enjoy your videos they take me back to better days before i ended up here in the not so lovely Medway towns ,Kent.
Brilliant ,again that took me back, walking all over the hillside ,all along that sunken path down towards double waters ,where theres more adits and mine buildings on both sides of the river ,across Grenofen Bridge and up the Tavy towards Tavistock more adits. its been 20 years and i still remember it vividly. Many thanks for the explore mate ,look forward to youre next adventure.
@biffa1234100 it's been a pleasure to do it for you I enjoyed it i will have to go further on and fine them some time I have spotted something on other side when I drove through today may be nothing worth a look tho going to try and get one more video out before Christmas day if not I will do one in the holiday of somewhere
👍
THANKS for that brother ,that took me back i scrambled all over that hillside and beyond , your lad is fearless aint he the way he just walking into the bat cave, that used to frighten me was always thinking it was going to come down on top of me or i was going through the floor. looking forward to part 3 , . on way back to Bedord/Magpie bridge keep close to river under the cycle bridge ,pass a couple of buddles and more building ruins etc. Anyways thanks for a trip down memory lane.
@biffa1234100 yeah he is fearless some times I just got to remind him what's about loads of stuff to look at probably more to find that's hidden
Couple bits I've not seen before like them extra adits near viaduct
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 yeah never knew thay was there bet there's lots hiding there
Be careful, don’t go alone always keep someone on the outside . And get your self some type of air monitor .
@americanadventureoutdoors4213 I have been looking in to air monitors i really need to get one but someone to come with me every time I got out I hard but I know what you mean tho my missus can track my phone on a map so if I didn't come home see can show that
The tracker is life360
Don’t trust those trackers they can be off by a lot sometimes . Find the ones you want to explore on your own and do the exploring in the Mines when you have someone that can go . Better safe than sorry .
It’s a spider egg sack
@@stephenmonk6552 could be mate
Brilliant, many thanks for that , its been nearly 20 yrs since I was last on the R Walkham I walked extensively around the area for many years as a resident of Horrabridge and then Tavistock. I do the walk up the river in my mind nowadays quite often. Look forward to the next 2 posts. Stay safe aand thanks again. From an expat sadly back up in the Medway towns in Kent.
@biffa1234100 no problem mate it is a nice walk through there bit cold mind but got it done still got to go back found even more holes to look at that be after Christmas done the 3 main ones I wanted to do I'm glad it brings back the memories
as an ex coal miner you should know better than going into old mine workings alone
@Electronicpoacher1 who's an ex coal miner if i want to go in alone i will but look at the dangers you face every day like ride a motorbike a car walking across a road or the boiler in your house exploding
That second adit , looks like it led into the shaft at the top of the hill ..the one with the tree fallen across it , as I recognise the red bag on the ledge is that right
@cousinjack5100 yeah that's what me and someone else was trying to figure out if it is that shaft with the tree i think it could well be
@Gunniboysexplorers I checked my video of the shaft . It is that shaft you did well to get to it. Its normally absailed as I don't even know which one of the adits leads to it. 4 features shown in the rubbish match exactly to our video so good job getting there without the absail , I live opposite chimney rock so often go in those woods ..
@Gunniboysexplorers I measured that shaft few weeks back. You were at about 36 meters depth at the shaft
@cousinjack5100 cool did you measure with laser
@Gunniboysexplorers surveyors tape with weight
Nice finds dude 👍 last one looks awesome!
@ExploringWithConnix cheers mate don't think it's long before the entrance gives way on the last adit but apart from that pretty cool
you got BALLS of steel brother , I was gripping the arms of my chair when you threw that rock down that deep shaft, Something in the DNA of you Cornishmen the rest of us have not been blessed with. Stay safe and many thanks.
@biffa1234100 some of it even scares me sometimes and think what the hell am I doing i will get to Walkham that's next place to go i think
Shaft! Arghhhhhhh.... _He'll save every one of us_ ....
do you ever explore over the river into Devon, Horrabridge and Grenofen wheal franco etc. Extensive ruins down the walkham from Bedford /Magpie bridge. Worth a look and a video pls.
@biffa1234100 yeah i do devon great consols did just across the bridge today I have been to the ones your on bout but never video it I will be going back there
WOW thats a long one, Got more bottle than I ever had Brother , I was heading back out when the water noise got that loud. Fair play
@biffa1234100 yeah i was surprised how long it was too sometimes the noise freaks me out thinking it collapsed behind me or it makes me think I heard voices
brilliant thanks takes me back .
@@biffa1234100 still got more to look at up kithill just so wet at the moment
Dont know how this came up on my feed but 20yrs ago AND FOR 12 YRS I used to roam widely over Tavy and walkham Valleys in and around the old shafts and addits alll the old mine workings around Grenofen and Double waters etc . Absolutely made my day to come across this. I miss Dartmoor very much I walked all over it extensively. Thanks very much .Liked and subscribed.
I love walking all the same places mate I just can't walk past a shaft or adit with out a look never know what you going to find glad you like the videos I will do my best 😊 thanks for the like and subscribe appreciate it
I was getting worried you were gonna find a couple adits i have on my list, was sweating towards the end with worry lol Great footage of fox
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 nice to see fox i know there is more but that be another explore just got to keep looking
Had a go at draining that first adit in the past but didn't get far and forgot to return. 21.00 minutes, it dries out in summer, ive been in there and its a bit strange as in how does it even flood
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 yeah could go lower but need a pick to do it really
What mine is this
My mate from down that way had his name up in there,it's Dobson if I remember correctly
Most of the names are starting to fade now
@Gunniboysexplorers the highest radioactive area is the blocked archway at end. Supposedly 200 where normal exposure for a year is like 12....the majority of it is around 100 of whatever it's measured in
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 ah right it was bit deep with silt so didn't get to it dont think we was far off it tho
Going underground you need a helmet very sensible to wear one Don't be a Muppet
@kernow..exp. I have one I'm not stupid
Quite a few bits I've not seen there, never been down that incline track to morwellham, always wondered where that last stream seeps from
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 I'm not sure where it pops out to at the bottom bet there's lots of hidden stuff there in the under growth
@@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 never give it a thought where that water was coming from
Ah you found the one down the incline lol, theres a 2nd entrance to that one
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 found both one had blue pipe coming out of it nd gatted forgot to take photo of it the other one starts shallow then goes deep
@Gunniboysexplorers was that by wooden bridge
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 didn't see one must of missed that
There's more to that one, where the broken box is theres a hole going up at the end. This takes you to a stoped area with an old ore shute still intact. A bit sketchy though , take someone with you.
That small wooden frame you found is what's left of a wooden wheelbarrow
@@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 cool couldn't figure out what it was at the time
Was down at that one today lol
@@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 yeah just watched your video 😆
Cool explore! I took the same route about a month ago! Didnt have time to go down the arsnic flu tunnel though! Looks cool down there! There is another adit right at the top of the hill (flooded) and lots more in the area
@@ExploringWithConnix get on would have been easier if it wasn't so over grown lol that flu tunnel was cool someone been digging it I'm going back at some point to look for more
You can climb up into that open worked stope from mine adit at the bottom of the valley directly below where you were filming....
@@wookiesundergroundadventures not from the adit no it collapsed in side
@@Gunniboysexplorers Go left at the winze climb behind the winch and there's a hole up with a rope in it... Unless that's got filled up!
@wookiesundergroundadventures I didn't get in that far next time I go back i will take a look
What a pity you explorers don't make a note of some simple facts like the compass azimuth of the lode or vein system and its dip, which you can see in those stopes.
@karhukivi I have never done this I'm still learning my self so give me chance
@@Gunniboysexplorers They are great videos, most of us cannot go there or into those old mines, so you are our eyes and ears!
@karhukivi thanks I will look for the veins next time I'm out not sure what mine I'm doing next
Theres a lot of open stopes ive not seen, noticed a couple and always wondered where abouts the cart was...wheal fr and the last one is wheal fa. Went in last one with brick surround, proper specialist that one, scared my mate just looking at it,was locked last time i looked
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 yeah it was still locked looked nice in the entrance there was a ally ladder in side so don't know if someone been looking after it still got to have a look in that 1st adit and have a proper look and squeeze over that collapse where it goes left
@Gunniboysexplorers yeah you saw a pump to the right through a squeeze,I done it once but 2nd time with better lighting I realised how ropey what I climb through was.if you go left instead you will come back to that flooded section you could see to left before the pile/ dead end,I'm sure there's a way up there into that wide stope, you can see a bit of rope going up
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 oh ok just a horse shoe bit that way then I want to have a look at the pump but it dose look dodgy i liked the big flat wall to the right that was cool that pile came from somewhere i think it's from the stopes it looks like someone been up top of the stopes where the rope is but I'm not trained to do climbs with ropes so won't be doing that
@Gunniboysexplorers yeah I'm not trained for vertical stuff, was gonna learn but me backs really gone down hill so easy stuff only from now on in
Ive been looking for that bottom adit but never ventured below them sand/ waste banks...this footage is really good as last video i saw by someone else was towards dusk
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 yeah it is good over there still got to go back and have another look round
@Gunniboysexplorers you won't be disappointed,I've covered 2 more adits on our channel close by
Dusk? It was pitch black 😅
@@ExploringWithConnix that's it totally dark
Youre the first one i know gone down that grill and tunnel. Great bit of iniative
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 got to be done the ladder was there so thought y not not sure where it goes to mind
Must get back into this one as not done it for years. Im very aware of whats beyond that high watery area and it will be more than chest deep, its a blocked off stope by looks of it and if you get past it i believe it dries out and goes on and on. Plus theres what remains of a false floor which aint a lot.... Good bit of footage
@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 thanks thought it would be that deep i would love to get other side
Great video. Was that copper i could see in there (blue stains on the rocks)
@charlottewebb6780 thanks could well of been didn't see it at the time but looking at the video I see it now you mention it
That ones over waste deep in places, not been in there myself though
@@maffersnshazzasbigadventur9135 thought it was that deep i do have waders but not sure to do it or not yet
