Citroen CX wreck starting after 12 years
.. one classic wreck story ..
Background ::
Car was bought in Žilina, Slovakia for 150€ as non running wreck. It was dedicated for scrapyard, but im a Citroen lover, so i decidd to buy it and make something better than scrapyard.
We pulled it out from its many years place..it was stuck in garden, wheels were half dug in the ground. It took over 3 hours in night (10pm) to dig it from ground, move on the road and load it on trailer.
I didnt see much from the car, and the next day i took my old camera with me..
Car had no papers and was officialy decomissioned from traffic (scrapped) and in my country its not possible to put it back on the road legally.
Overall condition was bad, no hydraulics.. and no brakes. We braked only by engaging gear. Body and interior bad.. because it had open window and hood for many years, and water got inside.
Budget for this car repair will exceed budget for buying car in good condition.. so it was dedicated for parts only, there was no hope for full restoration.
In the end, this car made me 100€ + some fun and knowledge :)

Later i had BX 16V, 4x4s, Xantia Activa turbo, XM V6s, C5 v6, C5 HDis, C6s.. but everything is sold out. I have just one C6 3.0HDi, Cadillac and Mitsubishi now. The C6 is already 460 000km and is a daily driver. This CX was sold for parts. Engine is running in another car.

This suspension offered comfort that you could get only on luxury cars that only millionaires could afford. No wonder the market didn't like it.

All the footage I see of this car, it’s always in snow
Because it was in rally Sweden, one of the few times the car finished the rally and it was their best result in the championship.
It had no centrall differential. Snow is more forgiving for this setup. But on the road and less slippery surfaces, the transmission will have to endure much more stress, and worser results..and it did.
Learn how to fix it at first and stop saying that they don't need you there they never did that is why they engineered this so well to let them know once again who is the boss of engineer like always you are not allowed to have that car too expensive for all of you Learn how wipe your ass first boy!!!
I catched a Citroën Xantia and restored it by myself with new hydropneumatic suspension. I never seen that and i had a lot of modern véhicule before. Now i driving a cloud.

I am going to predict that the next Tesla will have hydropneumatic suspension. Granted this is not production vehicle, but then again which year is this 1990's??
1988 Activa prototype. Toyota had 4WS at that time. Hydropneumatic suspension still lives in toyota land cruiser. For electric vehicle it will be excellent, its more reliable than air suspension.

I had to cut my view short so I could try to find an even more annoying soundtrack than this one.
Dismissing this suspension type is one of the most retarded decisions in the automotive industry.

Hydropneumatic suspension needs to be *mandatory* for the ambulance vans all over the world. EMS personnel will be forever grateful.
It was used in french ambulances for years. Since DS, Type HY, CX,XM,BX,C5...
I have the honor and the pleasure of driving a Citroen with this wonderful technology, a Citroen C5, and I enjoy every kilometer driven in this car. Superb!
It's so sad they don't make this suspension anymore. They are making them worse now. I myself had a 2004 Citroën c5. I will forever miss that car.

Does Citroen still own the patents on hydropneumatic suspensions? If not, why aren't any other car companies producing it?
I believe they do. But since it's 'old' technology according to PSA management, they decided to scrap it. And the license is only owned by Citroen. So i don't believe anyone is going to be making a hydropneumatic suspension any time soon.

It was, Toyota landcruiser 100, 200. Smaller prado had only hydropneumatic stablizer disconnect

Una grande e originale innovazione tecnica quella di Citroen,poi vorrei anche citare il contributo di un grande stilista scultore come Bertoni.Bene,la C6 me la ricordo,a me non dispiaceva,(anche se non potevo acquistarla) e forse è stata l' ultima Citroen a montare queste sospensioni; peccato che non ha avuto il riscontro di pubblico adeguato,qui in Italia guardando ai numeri di vendita,ad es.ci fu un anno in cui ne vendettero solo duecento! Peccato,lo dico da appassionato di auto,ma purtroppo quando si entra in settori Premium è difficile fare concorrenza ai marchi Tedeschi: comunque mi ha fatto piacere vedere questo video 👍

I have 41 vintage cars. At Citroën I have the DS 21, a CX and the presidential C6 from 2007. But I don't find anything very interesting in your report.
You have cars just as collectible item. I had it like that, but 99% of them, were just sitting in yard / garage. I have sold all of them finally this year, including rare cars as BX 4x4, BX GTi 16v Mk2, xantia activa turbo.. I have my last citroen, C6 3.0hdi. But i drive it daily and enjoy it. The problem is, i cant get parts from citroen, for cars that ended production in 2018, like engine mounts (that fits c6 and c5x7). I love C6..but i hate citroen :)

For sure it's dificult to take one every week but they are perfect and in a garage. It is the principal. The C6 have 80 000km. It's a presidential. A matching number like the first day. All option. Best car ever developed it was designed in time when quality was more important than profit. Today greedy stockholders prevent truly good stuff from getting developed. Greed and corporations that embrace it are detrimental to advancement of humanity.
