How to Wear a Miko Outfit
Part 1 is about the undergarments.
Part 2 starts at 5:34 and is about the kimono (Byaku-e).
Part 3 starts at 10:25 and is about the hakama (Hi-bakama).
I hope this video helps people who are interested in learning how to put on a Miko’s garments. This is meant to help cosplayers and people interested in learning more about Miko clothing. I am not a Miko (shrine maiden) and this is not meant to be religious (Shinto). I did research (in Japanese) on how real Miko wear their garments and did my best to represent it accurately given my knowledge of secular kitsuke (kimono-dressing).
I have several years of experience with kimono and learned kitsuke from a Japanese Dance Instructor, but am not an expert by any means. I do not have a license or anything like that, for instance. I would consider myself an enthusiast.
Lastly, I apologize for the less than stellar sound quality in this video. It was mostly recorded with my cellphone and there's some background noise I couldn't get rid of. (^^;

Переглядів 5973 роки тому
Part one is an undergarment explanation and Nagajuban (well, technically, it's actually a Han-juban substitute for a Nagajuban) demonstration. Part two, the Kimono how-to, starts at 6:13. Part three, how to tie a Kai-no-Kuchi knot using a Kaku-obi, starts at 11:08. This video is meant to help Cosplayers (directed at people who Crossplay) with putting on a male kimono. I have several years of ex...
Princess Mononoke Serenades the Forest
Переглядів 3554 роки тому
I won't do this very often since this channel is meant to be for tutorials... this video is NOT a tutorial... it was my entry to Crunchyroll Hime's Cosplay Cup (for Virtual Crunchyroll Expo 2020/VCRX). I love Princess Mononoke (my favorite Studio Ghibli film) and wanted to channel some of that love. I was one of 30 finalists, and even though I didn't win anything in the competition, I had a goo...
How to Make Rinoa's Ultimate Weapon, Shooting Star
Переглядів 3764 роки тому
This video is a walk-through guide of how to make Rinoa’s Ultimate Weapon from Final Fantasy VIII, Shooting Star. Final Fantasy VIII is a game very close to my heart and making Shooting Star was a passion project. (*^_^*) Many of the materials you can find easily. For example, the foamboard I bought at my local Target, and the EVA foam is Yaya Han brand 5mm EVA foam sold at Jo-Ann. I bought my ...

The video walks you through how to sew your boot covers to your tights from beginning (pinning) to end and is beginner-friendly.
How To Cut Bangs on a (Synthetic) Wig for Cosplay Using a Wig Head
Переглядів 2774 роки тому
Cutting part starts at 3 minutes 30 seconds. (The first part is about how to prepare your wig head and the supplies/tools you'll need.) Just getting started with cosplay and have a wig with long bangs that you need to trim? This video is for beginner cosplayers who want to cut bangs on their wigs but don't like cutting while wearing the wig. Using a your-head-sized wig head eliminates a lot of ...
where did you get your Miko outfit its really nice
Thank you so much for this putting this up. Saves me so much guess work on making mine for next week's convention that I'll be attending. I am in the process of making this version using the same materials but the feathers will be in a hint of yellow and gold mixed into one.
super ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🦊🦊🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴
What if you bought the miko outfit from an online store, ProCosplay in my case, that only sells the kosode, and hakama, no other stuff? Very basic compared to what you showed. Would this be helpful to men who wants to cosplay as miko, such as Kikyo?
Thank you so much!! It looks amazing!
7:03 who is face it's hakurei no miko have you're just miko think I'm skin ?
My next question is now I know how to wear one is: where do I find authentic and non costume-y miko kimonos?
Where did you buy it?😮
So much more complicated that I thought! Great video.

wonderful
very valuable info thanks
How do I do the hair
Should I have bought my costume on a different website? My byakue is a lot shorter than yours, and it doesn’t have the ties I need to help me keep it in place(I bought it on Amazon, by the way).

Where can I buy this outfit is beautiful!
Did you know shoppe?
wow your miko outfit is so detailed! i stumbled upon here bcs i was wondering if the skirt really has openings on each side 😅 turns out it's really like that. i'm going to cosplay utahime too! thank you for this!
I'm so glad you found it helpful!
calming~🤍🤍🤍 love your cosplay~🤍🤍🤍
和服漂亮
How many pleats does this hakama have?
So THAT is what the removable part is for!
This video, THIS VIDEO!! It is the video I've looking for! Since like 2019! THANKS!! 😍🙏😘 question: does the white kimono have openings on the sides too? Like the "underkimono" does? Thanks for telli ng us the names and everything! New sub!!
Hello! I'm so sorry about the late reply. The white kimono does not have openings under the arms. Those openings (called miyatsu-kuchi) are present in women's kimono where you have to adjust the length (making an overlap called the o-hashori). Because the white kimono does not require a length adjustment (due to being worn under a hakama) it does not have those. I hope this is helpful!
@@kayacosplaytutorials super! Thanks, this was verte helpful, please keep doing this amazing job!
@@andygarcia3599 thank YOU for writing such supportive and nice comments! 😁💗
Im going to cosplay as kikyo for next halloween
That's great!!! Inuyasha is such a classic. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask me!
I LOVE KIKYO 😍
@@kayacosplaytutorialsdo you know how to put on the miko cosplay? I'm having a hard time figuring it out
А как дышать.
I watched this video to help me with my Utahime cosplay so it was a nice surprise to see you cosplaying her as well! Thank you so much. This was very helpful!
I'm so glad it was helpful!!! ❤️ (Yay more Utahime cosplayers!!!!! :: Fist bump :: (・ω・)つ⊂(・ω・))
Did you use an elastic thread for this?
Great question! No, I didn't have to because I used a zig-zag stitch. If you want to sew with a non zig-zag stitch you'd have to use elastic thread.
Great idea! We kept making the boot covers tighter and tighter but they still slipped down. We'll have to try this before Halloween tonight! Thank you!
Hi!!! I'm so glad you found it helpful!!! Hoping that you were able to use this successfully on your Halloween costume 💗!
cool tutorial, nice channel. That was very, very helpful as a template for a 3D model. Thank you very much +1 sub
I'm so glad it was helpful!!!
Thank you so much. This is so helpful. And you are so dedicated. Wow. And your Utahime's cosplay is so good too.
Aw thank you so much!!! 🥺💓!!! (I'm sorry this reply is a week late!!!)
Is the Hi-Bakama a skirt, unlike the traditional Hakama? Cause when I see a hakama it’s a pleated trouser like pants…
The name of the style that Miko wear is called "andon-bakama" which is more like a skirt as you have observed (the legs are not separate). You can look up more information online if you're curious about it!!! ☺️💗
@@MichelleRogoyskiMountainView That’s what I thought… When I try to look it up tho it’s hard to tell if it’s the pants like hakama or andon-bakama…
UTAHIME! Nice. Watched this to figure out if i could use her miko outfit for a fanart concept but it will be incompatible w what I have in mind.... nice video btw!!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad it was helpful!!! 💗
Thank u for this video 🤍 Have u got link to this outfit?
Hi!! Thanks for commenting on my video! I bought my Miko Outfit through Rakuten (a platform which sells items from Japan). The shop I ordered from was called ODORI COMPANY. Here is the link to the Hakama: item.rakuten.co.jp/odori-company/sj-854/ And here is the link to the Byaku-E: item.rakuten.co.jp/odori-company/n5455/ (It's in Japanese which might make it a bit hard, but unfortunately I don't know of an English link I could send you.) Be sure to check the size information very carefully before ordering. Rakuten has a Global Shipping Consolidation Service called "Rakuten Global Express" that allows you to order from shops that would normally only ship to Japanese addresses. They give you a Japanese address (which is their warehouse address) and then when they receive the items you've ordered they consolidate and ship everything out for you in one package. I recommend waiting for a shipping discount promotion if you're not in a rush since shipping from Japan can be quite expensive. It also makes sense to order all the things you would need and wait for everything to arrive and be consolidated to save on shipping costs. They can hold items for up to one month. I hope this helps!!!
@@kayacosplaytutorials thank you so much 🤍
Great and well-detailed explanation! I love Miko Outfit so much but I don't know where to get them. 😥 Mind telling me where did you buy the outfit?
Hi Ashley!!! Thanks for commenting on my video! I bought my Miko Outfit through Rakuten (a platform which sells items from Japan). The shop I ordered from was called ODORI COMPANY. @@kayacosplaytutorials Thanks for the reply! I'll be sure to check that out!
This is so well made, nice job!! I have made Rinoa twice now but haven’t made a prop for her because I’ve always been pretty intimidated. It doesn’t look too complicated the way you’ve explained it; much appreciated!
You can do it!!! I'm so glad this was helpful! 😆 You can ask me at any time if you have any questions or are stuck on a part.💖
@@kayacosplaytutorials Hello! I have a question. Is there a more sturdier material to make the feathers out of ?
@@MomoMochi I thought that the foam looked the best since it's somewhat translucent. I don't know of any sturdier materials with quite the same look to be honest -- but you can look around and see what you find! For what it's worth, this prop is still in one piece at my home and hasn't fallen apart or anything so I think the material is sturdy enough for what I've used it for (posing for cosplay photos and carrying around at local conventions 😆)
I don’t plan to cross play but I watched anyway. This is so informative and you’re very good at explaining all the steps. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼
Thank you so much for your comment!!! I really appreciate it!🥰
I'm so happy I get to enjoy this beautiful performance again! (/ω\) ♡ You've done such wonderful work, as always!

Where did you get the wig if I may ask
Sorry about the late reply on this! I got this wig from AliExpress in 2018 under a listing for an "Asuka wig"! There are probably similar ones available still.
@@MichelleRogoyskiMountainView okay thank you so much
Whoa, i c... This stuff is Rinoa's. U crafted it really detailed on those size tho. That was fascinating!
