Is it Haunted | Roughside Bothy
What a stay at Roughside Bothy with @SteFortune absolutely epic. The Bothy is easy to find, close to the small village of Bower. As we approached the Bothy, we could see that people had already accommodated it. However, what good lads they ended up being ( Wayne and Swifty) we had a right laugh.
The Bothy it's self is situated in a stunning location, but it still has a bit of a chilling side to it. Some things happened that we couldn't explain, and some things the camera picked up that we didn't see/hear in real time. I hope you enjoy the video.

Haystacks | conditions caught me out!

In this video, I set out to complete a hike of 5 Wainwrights. Unfortunately, due to the unexpected conditions, I was only able to complete the Haystacks, and even that was a struggle.

Nice bothy this marra ive been here before myself but it was full at the inn lol good on the lads there with the wood and chainsaw love it nothing better bumping into good lads nice and murky on the morning like never no i migjt get next year and try again topper fire was great can't beat it few beers and burgers
Aye, lovely place, mate. I would have liked to have seen it when all the trees were still standing. The lads we met we're good craic, you always seem to meet a lot of like-minded people on adventures. Yeah, you should definitely try again, I couldn't recommend the place enough.... see what you can cook up for grub and don't forget ya beers.... or AN IPA TO MARK THE DAY
What is a bothy?
It's basically a free to use shelter. They are normally found in remote locations, like mountains. They are normally old work/farm buildings. In other countries, like the states they are called mountain huts, i think 🤔. They originally provided shelter to land keepers when caught in rough conditions, but hikers also used them. Please follow this link it will give you more information. www.mountainbothies.org.uk/
@@raceoutdoors wow thank you so much for sharing this information with me
It's not a problem at all, my friend, I'm pleased I could help. Thanks for visiting my channel. 👍
Sell iz ya snowman
Goodness, stop sniffing into the microphone.
Haha 😄 sorry, but it was the middle of November, and what you don't know or hadn't realised I was full of cold, but I still got out and filmed for my subscribers to enjoy. I use a mobile phone without a proper microphone... I'm a small channel on UA-cam, not a Hollywood producer, and i dont aim to be, lol. I do it for the love of being out and sharing my experience with others, nothing else. Obviously, looking at your non existing content on your channel, you're a pro at filming in the middle of nowhere with a basic mobile and being full of cold in the winter, lol. My goodness, don't be a Karen, haha, just because someone has a sniffle 😂😂😂 Thanks for watching, lol 😅😂😂
@@raceoutdoors jeez u always get one muppet😅😅
@@ChristineParkinson-ek1ll totally agree with you 💯 👍
You do better outside in November with a cold then. Sounds like you're the life and soul of the party.
@roof30 I like to just get on and get out, mate. Unless I have family commitments, or I'm seriously laid up, I'll be out enjoying myself and sharing my experiences with others via my channel. No little sniffle will stop me, 🤣. Thank you for watching my friend, and I hope you enjoyed it. I'll be back out on Saturday, doing a Solo Camp in a quarry....your the first to know. Keep an eye out for the video. Take care 👍
Y ya some blot outdoors to rights mandingos great video
@RyanWaters-t2z cheers, pal... thanks for the watch 👍
I hope you have plenty of beers mate haha
We've got two ciders and a bottle of prosecco left mate...it will have to do, 😆
I'm getting stuff ready for tomorrow the weather isn't stopping me doing some filming haha
@raceoutdoors that's not enough lad is there a shop near
@@Crossbowpete sadly not, we've been told the snow plough is on route...so we should get home, sadly 😢
@Crossbowpete class, mate. I look forward to seeing what antics you get up to 👍
That field needs a snowman 😂
Do I build a snowman or jump in the hot tub 🤔 🤣🤣
@ do both! Snowman then hot tub 😂
Grab a cold one 🍺 sit back and relax mate 😁👍🏻👌🏻
I think that's going to have to be the plan, haha 😄
I bet u r furious 🤣🤣
Ragging mate, haha 😂😂@@anthonymorrison9150
Looks nice no midges etc let me know if you see any ghosts
Didn't see any ghost, but some strange noises and my dog wouldn't settle. He kept freezing and staring at something. Obviously, we couldn't see anything. It was just a little creepy. They say animals can sense things that we can't. Hope you enjoyed the video 👍😨😨😱
Having a laugh is my 2nd favorite British saying. Having a wank is my first.
@CountryMouseCityCrimes Hahaha, there's plenty of British sayings that can be used to describe certain acts of enjoyment, if you know what I mean 😉, but I best not repeat them on my feed, haha 😆 😄
y ya some blot out doors brilliant lads just subscribed
Haha, thanks, mate.. pleased you enjoyed it, and will be more to come. 👍
Ere mate sell iz ya carbone vodka CARBONE 😆
🤣🤣🤣 it's wasn't the nicest stuff. We left some for the next lot of Mandingos, that rock up.... RIGHTS!!!
Looks like it could be proper creepy that gaff!!
It is pretty creepy. I definitely recommend it to those looking for a bit of a haunting adventure 😱
What I find with a bivvy is you gotta allow for a tarp in your kit for bad weather. I have a tarp with me regardless as it's the most versatile bit of kit you can carry. I love the colour of the bivvy. Olive green if I'm correct? Very stealthy and even with a tarp you are very low down so you won't stand out. Even more stealthy near hedges or trees as you are below the tree line. I have used a bivvy bag a few times, not a hooped bivvy like this. I think I'd have had better experience with hooped bivvy. If I wanted to buy this bivvy, this review tells me everything I want to know and some extra facts thrown in. This is how reviews should be done. Nice one! 🫡
Brilliant mate, I'm pleased you liked the review. Yes , as you mention, I would definitely recommend a tarp with a bivvy give you somewhere to sit under in case of bad weather. Yeah, the colour of my Snugpack is olive green, ideal for those occasions where you just want to blend in. Again, I must say, I find the Snugpack Stratosphere a good bit of kit, but that's down to the users' choice/experience.
0:34 smile for the camera 🤪
Haha, this is my first review video, and I must admit, trying to keep it professional is hard, lol 😆
Why ya some story ruiner, top night lad, Ste and Swifty Ziplines are the next big thing 😅
Haha, it was good craic that, really enjoyed this one. 😊
@@raceoutdoors Proper great laugh mate, eerie place also, love a bothy camp, definitely want to do more 😎
Still a good go marra I havnt done haystacks had plenty opertunitys but I'm saving this one and the others you were gonna do here for a nice summer day it is sketchy like in the wet good choice to pull off the rest being solo marra and you forgot the ipa so this was set in stone from the start lol the apex challenge will be a good tester for your training I hear it's a good event like so I will look forward to this one got some ca ny photos here bud
Thanks matey, Aye it was pretty sketchy like....I don't think this was meant to be. I had the IPA when I got back, and throughly enjoyed it, lol.
Great easy to watch video, we just came across it by accident. We have lived in Byrness for the last ten years so we've walked all round these local areas, and feel lucky to have such great views on our doorstep. Just subscribed, love the good banter between you both.
Ahh, thank you so much. All I can say is what a lovely place you live in, my friend...I have to say I'm well jealous. Spithope was such a good experience and a right laugh. It was good reading the visitor comments in the books that are there. Hope you keep enjoying my videos, and thanks for the sub....absolute respect 🙏
looks really nice mate. Good video tour!
Thank you, mate, you should take you and your lass there. I can't recommend the place enough.
Absolutely loved this trip, felt so free stood on the shore just singing away, what it's all about my friend 😊
Absolutely unreal trip mate, probably my most favourite adventure, out of all the ones we've done so far. There are many more to come. 😎😊
Unbelievable 😅😅😅
Yesss marra nice show around the lodge looks spectacular and the hot love it few beers and familly time cant beat it would say let your hair down but as you said with the dryer you have no chance 😂😂😂 good vlog mate got to do a relax one now and then and this is the way to do it and the the mirror part 😂 class
Like we were chatting, mate. We have to make time for our loved ones also and this was the place. Would definitely recommend it, marra. Thanks for the watch, I've watched your latest video also, thanks for the mention. Looked like a canny day out, I might have to venture up there.
@@raceoutdoors no probs marra I think i could book here for the daughters they would love the hut tub
Flamethrower level is that
It was bleeping!!! unreal mate, we had to bail out
Does it even float? What's the float rating? 😂
It has a sinking rate of 8/10 when this big lad gets on it 😂😂😂😂 so I'm guessing that makes the floating rating 2/10, lol 😅
Hope you've got a fire extinguisher ready 😅
Spare bottle of Evian will have to do, 😆
The pack up takes me half a day fueled by about 10 cups of tea..... Never rushed 😂
Haha 😄, I hate packing up, but it's all part of it. If I could only have a permanent camp without having to pack up, lol. Now that I have a new tarp, I'd probably leave that up till the last minute and take my time packing up. I mainly hate it when it rains, and your mate brings a bivvy instead of his tarp that he promised, hahaha 😆 😂
@raceoutdoors when you order your mates from Temu and they send you a let down instead...... Why am bothered? Aaahhhhhhh 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lucky pooch to be having that
Don't normally get to eat like that when I go camping. I wouldn't normally have cheese on my steak, but it was there. So why not, lol 😆
Why have you put cheese on top of a steak?
Because it was there, and I couldn't be bothered to make the sauce, lol. I'd already drank a bit by then, haha 😄
Ey up kids! Watch out for wor Arthur walking his dogs mind 😂
Aye he'll be there bright and early 😂
Yesss lads shame about the callab camp but you 2 are out nice and local to me this place 😂 giggle here taking the mick outa steve talking hahaha burgers beer and woods can't beat it the bivvy 😂😂😂 he didn't half get hes own back there about ya coat 😂😂time with pals camping class lads
Hahaha, it's good craic, if you can't take the mick out of each other then why bother, 😂. Aye it's ashame that the callab didn't happen, but plenty of time for that. If your local mate, your more than welcome to join us sometime if you're up for it 👍
Well done lads easy mistake to go off track like loving the ipa on the highest of the day i will add this on my next vlog for you this is my thing i do a swig at the trig and i do add chanels that have a sying on the tops lol class love it and as for the fella with the water shamefull lads could of gave you lads it shaocking hate that greedy follwed by what you called him lol good stuff well done cant beat a good old mooch

Cracking mate, 11 bagged. Just dropped you a sub mate, from a fellow UA-camr 😉👍
Class, mate, I'm pleased you enjoyed the video....plenty more videos to come in the future. I've checked your channel out, and I like what I see, so I've subbed. 👍😎
Well Done lads, weather conditions terrible, but all part of the challenge, nice one lads 😎
Rock piles aka Cairns
Ahh, thank you. I didn't realise they are called cairns also, I thought they were just stone path markers for hikers to use as a navigation aid in bad weather. I thought cairns were just the circular walled structures that you can take shelter in. Every day is a school day 👍 thanks again, because I totally forgot to google that 😅
First time I've seen your channel. Love the Cheviots. Come up there every year from deepest Norfolk. Looked like a great day out. Thanks for sharing
You're welcome, I'm pleased you enjoyed the video. I used to go to Norfolk regularly, to a nice little place called Hemsby, but sadly, the place is coming to its end 😢. Not much of the beach left with the tidal surges. Lovely people down there. Hope you are keeping well, and thanks for watching 😀
Nice to meet yous boyos . N hope you had a great birthday I was a bit sore for mine haha 😂
Thanks mate, hope you had a good day. Aye, it was good craic mate, bantering with yourself and Steve. Wish we had a couple of extra cans for you both. You looked like you could have done with it, lol
Some cracking views. Nice one
It's lovely up there. I may even consider a camp around there in the future.
I'm walking like I'm running away from someone ha ha, beautiful views
Haha, well you did have me and Dicky behind you, lol
@@raceoutdoorsDicky was too busy rock hugging to catch me 😅😅😅
Nice video matey, cracking morning
Camped there for around 10 years.... Its like mice central so keep gear off the floor pal
Yeah, I've seen a couple already. We've been about 7 or 8 times now and absolutely love the place. I would be willing to meet up for a joint camp if you fancy?
@@raceoutdoors sounds a good idea. I tend to use my Amok now due to the little buggers lol. It's a very very cold damp place in winter so wrap up!
Yeah, I learnt that, back in January this year. It was good fun, though, and very much part of the challenge of wild camping experience
Looked like a good day/night making memories with family! Cool camping spot aswell
Thanks mate, yeah it was absolutely awesome, and the kids lived it 👍
😂😂 good video sir New sub here💪
Thanks, that means a lot, and thank you for the sub. Hopefully, you'll enjoy my future videos also 🙏
