Happy 2024!
I am Celebrating 45 years in the entertainment industry this year. I have been blessed to excel in many areas of show business.
I left Conway, South Carolina in 1979, to pursue a career as an actor in NY. I am a proud member of Actors Equity.
Eventually, my gift of gab and quick wit, along with my love of Singing led me to a variety of stages from Atlantic City to Las Vegas.
My original blog to chronicle the history of ( Hello Dolly) morphed into a talk/variety series called , "Richard Skipper Celebrates."
This series which ran for 3 years is now syndicated on most popular podcast platforms and UA-cam. After three years of not performing due to the pandemic, I'm returning to LIVE performance in 2023! As of this writing, I'm booked at Crazy Aunt Helen's (Link: www.crazyaunthelens.com/events) on March 18th. The show is called Plate Spinners, Jugglers, ...and Richard Skipper!: Tales of a LIFETIME in Show Business! Now available for Booking!

have always been a fan of yours - i have to say you have the muscles from head to toe - just saw you in "The Waltons" episode "The Diploma" - too bad you never got more roles showing your muscles - you put Holly hunter to shame - - you should have had a series or been in more - Happy Thanksgiving 💪 wow - what a lady you are - 75 yr. old Italian guy 😍
❤❤❤ Richard I’m going to be calling you. I’m sorry I lost touch. I just saw this episode and it is now November 18/24. This episode made me cry. Jerry was like an angel who saved those women. What a gorgeous episode. I’m still crying with love Jeffrey Shonert. ❤❤❤
Two of my most favorite people from too long ago. Amazing how time moves so fast as you get older, and it wasnt supposed to be this way....Darlana
Thank you for this! I saw Loni as Griz 2x, but it's her work as Evita that really sounds like it was the absolute phenom of her career. She really was terrific in that. Also, she LOOKED terrific as Griz, one of the best.
Rosie would've loved you both! Wonderful conversation. Here's cheers to both your creative paths as you journey through life making great on your gifts.
A must see, entertaining, elevating and wonderful narrative history of the evolution of one of the most iconic show celebrating the power of an unstoppable woman! Get your tickets before it’s sold out ~ you’ll be glad you did!!!
Best show I have seen in a long time! Richard is charming, funny and a great performer!
Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot to me to know that my performance resonated with you! Tell your friends I'll be at theGreenRoom42 on 12/27 at 7PM. Reservations a MUST!
I first saw Judy years ago in As the World Turns as Ariel Aldrin. I thought she was so stunning. I loved those eyes. I love her still. (2024/10). Take care of yourself Judy and so happy to see you still working, and is as beautiful as ever.
I’m black and I’m thrilled that sally morgan has a good relationship with the black community! Black black black
I JUST watched the "Mathematics" video (several times), yesterday. I guess that is why this is in my video feed. Not familiar with Richard Skipper, but Melissa Manchester is one of my favorite singers, of all time! So, I will be checking out the interview. Melissa Manchester, if you read this: KNOW that you're loved! 'And, THANKS for all the great music.
…my dear friend…and I was at those Xmas parties…I also have stories…
The montage clip is fantastic. Richard, you're at home on any platform in your vast repertoire of natural habitats including: media, environments, formats, venues, theatres, clubs, and events. Your return to the live stage has been much anticipated, while today's conversation with glorious Linda is another gemlike addition to your prolific podcast's voluminous archive. Here's cheers to: teamwork, The Process, a reliable retinue of gifted/ in-demand/go-to MDs, emotionally evocative accompaniment arrangements, "Mame," sourdough entrepeneurialism, possibilities, hope, 54 Below, and Billy Stritch. Like, comment, share. Love, respond, support. Indeed. 🎶🎤🎭🗽🌴🌉 🌐 ♥
Wonderful show as always! So nice to see you back where you belong, Richard! And what a lovely way to get to know more about Linda. Have a wonderful show! Cheering you both on from LA
Loved her in the original cast of Titanic!
Thank you for your kind words! Her performance really left a lasting impression on so many of us.
@@RichardSkipperCelebrates oh yes!!! I was around 12 at the time and I vividly remember her performance as Caroline. The final scene she has with her “lover” on the boat deck as she is pulled away from him onto a lifeboat as he sings his last words to her “May this one brief moment make eternal ties” still after all these years rips my heart out. So great to have discovered this interview so many years after seeing her in 1997. What a treat to “catch up with her” here.
A 6 degrees of separation moment. When Quincy, MA was mentioned as Jackie's hometown (city) and Richard said he performed there it was with my company JM Productions at The State Street complex in the 90s at Raffaels Restaurant. I produced, MC'd, took tickets, bused tables, and dressed Richard at costume change time. Another 6 degrees is the fact that Jackie and I grew up together. I was not the hockey "best friend" but we were best friends in high school and beyond. Small world!
This was a smile-inducing and fascinating hour featuring two people who really feel like they are kindred spirits...to each other..and, yes, to me as well. Richard, you're not out of line at all with your 'fantasy next step' career-wise. You WOULD be a tremendous asset to TCM. You fit the profile to a tee..passion-wise, relatability-wise and, of course, knowledge-wise. As for Sandy? Well..let's just say I hope have my OWN "Lesley Anne-Warren moment" someday and get to meet that gal in person. My calculator doesn't go high enough up on the numbers scale to count the moments of joy and entertainment she's brought to my life. And, listening to her in these interviews, well..as my wife said.."She's like the female version of YOU, sweetheart!"
Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot to hear how much joy Sandy and our conversations bring to your life. Here's to many more inspiring moments ahead! Now, how can I celebrate YOU today?
@@RichardSkipperCelebrates Thanks, Richard! You can celebrate me by letting Sandy know what i posted here about her. I really want her to know how much she's contributed to making my life..for over a half century now..a much more enjoyable one!
@@nycmusicguy I’ll gladly do that
SUCH a delight! Sandy (my 'TV crush' for over a half-century) and Don are EXACTLY how I imagined they'd be as a couple. "Perfect may not be good", as Sandy profoundly says. But, in THIS case..sorry, Sandy..you two are a pretty darn perfect match! And, Richard, you really ARE a true gentleman...and a super-talented one. I recall writing back and forth with you a few times during a period when you were doing the Carol show Off-Broadway, and you were as authentic and kind a person as Ms. Duncan says you are.
I truly appreciate your kind words! It means a lot to hear that you found us to be authentic and kind. Those qualities are what we strive to showcase!
Fantastic
Thank you so much! Your support means a lot to me!
Spectacular interview! I was privileged to work with Grover and his editor Jennifer on A BOY LIKE THAT. I also worked for Grover at answers4dancers starting about 15 years ago. I know the book inside and out. I know all the stories... But to hear and see Grover talk about the stories is such a thrill and adds so much dimension. The book is a must read for dancers and dance enthusiasts or anyone else. And now I can say this interview is a must watch. Great job Richard Skipper!
Thank you so much! You just made my day. Feel free to share
Desperate to obtain a recording of David singing My Great Dream from Miss Spectacular 🙏

amazing lady and so talented...as time passes, we will all marvel at how gullible we were about covid
Thank you for your kind words! It's always fascinating to hear different viewpoints on such a complex topic.
I found Robert Preston in Victor/Victoria. I have two questions. Who was the Matador? Did Robert know the second group of dancers were not going to catch him in Lady of Seville?
Thank you for your thoughtful questions! I love that you're diving deep into the details of Victor/Victoria. It’s always a joy to discuss such a classic film!
FANTASTIC
I didn't know this many played Dolly
Thank you for watching! It's amazing to see how many people appreciate Dolly's talent and artistry.Where is home for you?
@@RichardSkipperCelebrates I saw Carol Channing at the Orpheum Theater in San Francisco she work the stage non-stop...it was as if you were watching a master class in Theater .

Thanks a ton for the love, darling! You rock!
TCM needs to do a special of Patty Duke films.
Thank you for sharing that thought! Patty Duke's work deserves more recognition, and it's great to see fellow fans who appreciate her films.
I miss Johnny Meyer. We once discussed releasing Heartbreaker, to be narrated by John himself, but I couldn’t make it happen.
Your loyalty to Johnny Meyer andHeartbreaker means a lot. How did you find this video?
Judy was born 102 years ago. Meyer, who recently died at 86, may have been her very last surviving "boyfriend." I don't know if Tom Green, also much younger than Judy, is still alive; that's a very common name.
I would like to see this exhibit in Ottawa, Ontario or Montreal, Quebec.
Thank you for your interest in the exhibit! Your support means a lot. I hope you enjoyed the interview.
She needed a better agent. She should have been on the Carol Burnett Show every season, had her own show, been a substitute host on talk shows, had a sitcom, etc.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It's clear you really appreciate her talent, and I totally agree with you.
I love ❤️ Anita Pointer, she was an amazing talented lady who I really enjoyed watching her, her smile is contagious, and The Pointer Sisters, they had amazing voices and music 🎶. R.I.P. 🙏🙏🙏June, Bonnie and Anita, your legacy will live on. You all were very funny, beautiful and great singers, thank you for the music and interviews were lots of fun and so many laughs. I still listen to your music 2024.🥰

Such an endearing interview to watch. Love your ending to the interview. Gratitude is a thought Murray always taught me. He gave me such wisdom & thoughts towards life years back. I miss spending time with Murray. Moved out of State & here & there communicated. I remember one evening Murray took myself & one of my best friends out to dinner. She worked in Latin T.V., Telemundo & L.A. Marketing. It was strange yet a compliment to Murray when she , sitting next to him, asked" May i touch you for good luck?" He said sure yeah". Proceeded to say lol, " If that helped touching my arm , good for you." Then Murray continued with explaining that no matter what form of business you are in, keep pushing for the top. I miss the good old days sitting at that same bar in his home. The conversations & guidance he gave me & the laughs too! Thank you for this interview. Murray is sharp as ever! Kindly, Linda or as Murray used to call me " Pollyanna " since decades ago I was always so kind, naive to peoples judgement of others ( in actuality I just let it roll off of my back). This wordly & interesting man has had adventures, heartbreak, huge success, & a deep fondness for his home, his dogs, & the people that are or were important to him. I cherish my copy signed by him of his book. Very sincere interview on both of your parts!
Your words are so heartfelt, Linda. I'm grateful for your support and for you sharing your experiences with Murray. How did you find this video?

On this celebratory day of Juneteenth, June 19, 2024, I am thrilled to come across this video of Peggy Dillard Toones. After attaining my Master‘s Degree in Performing Arts/ Dance from American U. in D.C., (1981), I ventured to New York to test the waters in theater. As a naive North Carolina native, I was thrilled to meet Peggy at her hair salon, Turnin’ Heads in Harlem. She gave me a beautiful hair cut which highlighed my afro hair and accentuated my face. She, along with her husband, Lloyd, welcomed me into their home in New York, and fed me. Peggy gifted me with a few clothing items(one leather), that I treasured. Peggy inspired me. I think she has no idea how much this interaction uplifted and strengthened me. Shortly thereafter, I ventured to Europe with a touring company of the musical HAIR where I performed as the lead female character. I met my husband, grounded our family here in Europe and continued to perform. I continue to wear my hair natural, show folk the God in me, follow a holistic lifestyle, treat folk with kindness, and wear my southern upbringing like a cloak. Thank you Peggy. ❤️
Your story is truly inspiring, and it's heartwarming to hear how Peggy's kindness and generosity helped shape your path. Thank you for sharing. How did you find this video?
