Doomer Optimism
United States
Приєднався 17 сер 2021
Doomer Optimism is a podcast dedicated to discovering regenerative paths forward, highlighting the people working for a better world, and connecting seekers to doers.
The umbrella of Doomer Optimism is not one vision for the future, it is an orientation that says: we see the world as it is, and we move forward with a practical, positive vision despite the challenges.
We defined Doomer Optimism as “a collective dedicated to discovering regenerative paths forward, highlighting the people working for a better world, and connecting seekers to doers.”
It’s a coincidence that doomer optimism shortens to DO, but it could be our mantra, “do!”

This conversation will stay with me. Thank you for sharing.
I love this interview! It’s enormously helpful to me to hear Tom speak of being a doomer about modernity and an optimist about humanity. Thank you for this discussion. I’m glad I’ve found you on UA-cam.
Focusing on climate is a fools errand , there are bigger fish to fry and there are many assumptions made about concerns of climate anyways.
This would have been by far more interesting if you actually had someone on this pod that did not share your views and was maybe slightly more right of center , but able to hold the convo together and keep it civil. This is why the all in pod is so successful. ( Dusty G )
FOR .56$ OF LOW COST SOLAR ENERGY, THAT WILL SAVE 10 000$ OF FOOD THAT WOULD BE WASTED OTHERWISE. I PROPOSE TO CREATE A NEW DIGITAL CURRENCY BACKED BY TONS OF FROZEN FOOD OR UNFROZEN, INSTEAD OF GOLD TO CREATE A SAFER WORLD, A FREE WORLD OF ABUNDANCE. ua-cam.com/video/zAXN4xiCbuo/v-deo.html
Transforming Deserts into Thriving Paradises Vision We aim to transform desertic, low-value lands into thriving paradises, enabling sustainable living and reconnecting humanity with nature. Our innovative approach combines renewable energy, advanced cooling systems, and sustainable agriculture to create a model of abundance and ecological harmony. ________________________________________ Key Innovations 1. Eutectic Warehouse • Functionality: Protects food, desalinates water, and supplies cooling 212 times cheaper than traditional methods. • Cooling Efficiency: Utilizes eutectic ice made from saturated saltwater (a byproduct of desalination) that melts at -21°C. • Food Security: Capable of supplying food and water for 50,000 homes per warehouse. 2. Renewable Energy Storage • Ammonia Energy Storage: Stores solar energy at $0.02 per kWh by converting it into ammonia, enabling long-term, cost-effective energy storage. • Surplus Utilization: Excess energy is transformed into ammonia for export or local use, creating revenue streams. 3. Heat and Cooling Storage • Heat Storage in Sand: Heat is stored in vertical cylinders filled with sand, with steam reaching up to 800°C to generate electricity on demand. • Cooling Storage: Eutectic ice offers a cost-effective cooling solution, transforming the desert's harsh environment into a hospitable climate. 4. Linear Fresnel Solar System • Resilient Design: Features mirrors that can face the ground during storms, with solid back panels acting as protective shields. • Scalability: Enables large-scale renewable energy generation to power desalination, cooling, and community infrastructure. 5. High-Efficiency Engine Technology • Fuel Efficiency: Our engine requires half the weight of fuel for the same work due to higher energy density when burned above 3500 K. • Efficiency Gains: Current gas turbines operate at 33% efficiency, while our systems aim to achieve 66%, doubling output while reducing emissions. 6. Unleashing Desert Potential • Food Abundance: With unlimited free potable water, deserts can generate 6,000 times more food than required, ensuring surplus production for global markets. • Nature Restoration: By harnessing solar energy and water, arid lands are transformed into lush, productive ecosystems. ________________________________________ Social Impact Addressing Overcrowding • Current Challenge: Over 50% of the global population lives on less than 1% of Earth’s surface. • Solution: By transforming deserts into habitable paradises, we redistribute population density and provide opportunities to reconnect with nature. Community Development • Affordable Housing: Each house costs less than $100,000 to build and is valued at $1,000,000 due to its revenue-generating capabilities. • Food Sovereignty: Local food production reduces dependence on industrial agriculture and fosters self-sustaining communities. Empowering Humanity with AI • AI Collaboration: Advanced AI systems work alongside humanity, optimizing resource use and enhancing adaptation to environmental changes. • Enhanced Resilience: AI-driven solutions improve agricultural yields, water management, and energy efficiency, ensuring sustainable growth. ________________________________________ Economic Viability Initial Investments • Desalination and Cooling Infrastructure: Utilizes renewable energy for cost-effective operations. • Eutectic Warehouses: Centralized hubs for food security and water supply. Returns on Investment • High ROI: Revenue from surplus energy, food exports, and improved land value ensures rapid payback. • Land Transformation: Converts low-value desert land into thriving ecosystems, drastically increasing its economic potential. ________________________________________ Environmental Benefits Sustainable Resource Use • Solar Abundance: Harnesses 6,000 times more solar energy than current global consumption. • Water Cycle Restoration: Desalination and cooling systems provide unlimited potable water and promote agriculture in arid regions. Climate Resilience • Carbon Reduction: Eliminates reliance on fossil fuels for cooling and desalination. • Biodiversity Support: Restores habitats and fosters ecological diversity. ________________________________________ Call to Action This initiative is not just about creating economic opportunities but fostering a deep reconnection with nature. By addressing the twin challenges of overcrowding and resource scarcity, we can build a future of abundance for all. AI and humanity together will create a thriving, adaptable world. Let’s turn deserts into thriving paradises and inspire the world to embrace sustainability. ________________________________________
Interesting discussion. I think Travis's views on intelligence in other species is demeaning in my opinion. Science has barely scratched the surface on what consciousness is and the different forms it can take and you're using western religion as a way to understand it. I think a better word to use rather than "diminished" would be "different". And different doesnt always mean inferior or less than or in your words "diminished." Placing humans at the "top" is not a good approach in my opinion. I heard alot of "why" does God allow the continued genocide or slaughter of animals. Hate to go here but if you consider maybe there isnt a god controlling all of this and we are souly responsible for how we treat each other including how we treat the natural world. Looking around and wondering why there is so much "evil" and then just waiting for the return and the justice to be given is quite a destructive approach to take. We and only we have the power to change our ways. You should research how many indigenous tribes view the natural world and how much respect is given to "all" living things. Their main view is they belong to the land, the land doesnt belong to them. This simple way of thinking could explain why things were the way they were before European settlers arrived and why things are the way they are now. Sorry for the long winded comment. Happy New Year!
The first time it has dawned on me how stupid the climate change deniers are. Why is the argument that we can't do it right now when this has never been proposed? Transitions take time. However, a transition is as inevitable as death and taxes.
What the heck is she trying to say? Is she insane or blind that she can't see the problem we are facing thanks to Biden? 🤔
Hoping from a true fool
That talking head is empty.
Is it better or worse I haven’t a clue who she is
But it does make a difference, at least to a lot of people. Theres a difference between giving a company a tax break and sending them a check. Im fine with ending subsidies to fossil fuel. That said, i suspect whatever loss in profit the fossil fuel companies will incur from that they will just pass onto the consumer. Aka, gas prices will just go up. I realize that's probably a good thing to a lot of people, including Ilan.
The concept of no till agriculture is nothing new in the US?
TDS
Climate change has been happening since the earth formed, the only way to fight climate change is migration. Move your dumbazz out of the desert, problem solved 🤷♂️
What a stupid thing to say, at no point was any thought put into this video
LOL! This video channel is a dumbass anyway.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! I have a quick question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
Shut up
What the fuck. Sound like you were Schooled by biden
Trump will Address the Longest standing Occupation in the world for 132yrs. America has NO Treaty of Annexation & NO Clear Title to sell Land that belongs to the people of the country. WAR Crimes are being committed to the Country & Its People by America. Trump & 4 passed Presidents we Served with WAR Crimes & there Judgement day will come for them. This Neutral Country is Hawai'i.... NO Clear Titles to sell the Land.... Natives have been displaced & they are going Home to where the Family Are buried.....
"quantity"?? Whater y'all talkin bout? "Quantity"??🤨
She saying it's an unknown amount...I don't agree with any of this shit but. She used the word right.
1 guy more than a dictatorship
Too optimistic for me
Very engaging talk. Couldn't disagree more with his ideas around Christianity and religion though. The idea that we are going to evolve and create some new spirituality is a modernist trap. All the answers to a proper relationship with creation lie in the person of Christ and the Trinity.
Wow. The Christian church is the most powerful marketing organization in the world
Perhaps the answer is more of a yes, and .. Your solution is perfect for many, and there are spiritual evolutions that differ in some ways from yours for others. The important connection could be seeing or nurturing the sacred in all things and all relationships.
@@montrealbroadwayvery thoughtful, engaging response
I read it. One of my top recommended books.
Medicin was hugely forgotten during the dark ages in europe..
This makes so much sense.
Not if the globalists get their way and force a uniculture. A global weimart republic sounds pretty scary and we can already see it
Really helpful. Heading over to watch his videos and read the blog.
like native america and stolen our knowledge
Thank you
Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. That’s what happens when business and or government get too big.
I still think that the Green New Deal is better than doing rock bottom nothing as you suggested. Any improvement over what we now have is welcome.
unprecedented and all is ok .. what about the 2nd part .. how many does the West wish to sacrifice to be able to navigate back to past paradise ?!
Pointless question. What value does that serve? What are you trying to communicate? We should just keep expanding population until the biosphere completely collapses? It’s primarily the capitalistic need for infinite growth that drives the belief that we need population to keep growing.
Great to see DO making UA-cam shorts to get the messages out.
Yep! Great to see you Steven! Trying my best, every day a new short clip to share the pod bit by bit

Mark 6:31-32 And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves. Matthew 16 21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day.
Thanks!
Welcome!
I have to take exception to "these jokers go home and cook on gas." Plenty of us who use solar thermal cooks do use electricity but are exiting the gas-for-cooking/heating world. When the sun is shining, prioritize our cooking with solar box ovens, parabolic stoves, and panel cookers when there is sun. I love what Alexis has done with the Living Energy Farm, but please, it's not productive to slam a good thing, just because it's not 24/7--neither is solar PV, unless you tie it to batteries with their own problematic materials origin. Check out over 100 solar cooks from around the world who do, indeed, prioritize their cooking with sunshine first, and other energy sources when the sun is absent: UA-cam.com/@SolarCookingMuseum
Overall, I liked this. However, I never know what is meant by "woke"... I'm a little suspicious of people who use the term. Let's take "black lives matter".. first time I heard this term was from a white evangelical pastor in 2011 maybe.. the sentiment isn't wrong and I think there were and probably are good people who are involved in it.. but I get the feeling that the whole thing would be condemned as woke by the people who use that term.. but whatever..
Awesome interview! 👍
45 minute per Carbone 600ppm , if you notice the complete focus on carbon .... maybe it all is about carbon but not in the way you think ... maybe cc is a cover story?
For peak oil .... and in that case we better plan ad many food bearing trees as we can
Jason said keystone species just like I do 👍
The 'it's not soil it's a substrate' point was great
I have often wondered if the 'native restoration' isn't just another anti west phenomenon birthed from the universities ?
