Draconis Expanse NPC Hunting Guide - Part 1: First Time To Jupiter

- Note: when things like torpedo launchers are deleted from a projection on the server, the projection appears to vanish. Use the command "!entities refresh" while outside a cockpit, or just relog, and the modified projection will be visible to you.

This is a guide to get started with NPC hunting with nothing more than the things you can buy from NPC stores at Tycho.
While the specifics of how you get money or non-hunted tech is outside the scope of this video, it may be useful to know that many player stores at Tycho or elsewhere will pay more for lithium and other staples than they cost to buy from the NPC stores on the same station. That's one way to get money without actually mining or making trade goods.
Additionally, be aware that the KOTH point on Europa generates basic belter components over time for anyone to take. While the danger of doing so varies, it might be a better way to get them than paying up front at Tycho.
Also: I forgot to talk about it in the video itself, but the ship has a rotor with nothing on it for a reason. The existence of a subgrid on your ship induces Space Engineers to better calculate your ships position on your client, making for a smoother experience that is less likely to result in you colliding with another object.
Some other notes:
Time between DX NPC spawns is typically around 10 minutes, give or take a few either way. This might seem like no time when you need it and forever when you're waiting. NPC spawns tend to send you a message in chat, so you can always check chat to figure out how long it's been.
You'll want to move somewhere new once you've killed an NPC, but after that your state doesn't matter-- you can be moving or sitting still, but it's still going to take about 10 minutes.
NPCs do not spawn in gravity fields. Jupiter gravity, weak as it may be, starts at 360km, so try to stay at or above something like 380km to avoid interference.
To display the radar on your HUD, you need HUDLCD. While HUDLCD is a mod, it can be loaded clientside in any server using plugin loader. I recommend plugin loader to anyone who somehow hasn't heard of it, as there are numerous quality-of-life plugins and mods that can be added clientside using it.
While we are using a railgun with an aimbot script, if you cannot or do not want to use the script, this same ship or a ship of similar durability and flak count should be able to kill numerous pirates at PDC range before taking significant damage. While this is likely to destroy more of the loot, it's an option for those who dislike scripted assistance. Otherwise, everything shown in the video should be achievable manually if necessary, and the general tactics used with the aimbot will work the same once a turreted railgun is acquired.
- If doing this, cherrypicking for TIH2 Stations might be best.

    hey for some reason the links in the discription for the script and the ship are not working anymore... what is the name of the script ? so i can find it in the workshop

      Sorry, UA-cam broke the links :s. The script is KTZHunt, and the ship is Beltacruisa_fixedrail. However, this video is very old, and a lot of stuff has changed; I don't recommend using a fixed railgun to get into hunting NPCs on DX anymore. Among other things, Weaponcore introduced artificial inaccuracy into the scripting API function it was using, which took them from dodgy to just awful. I've long since stopped working on that version of the script, and KTZHunt2 does not support fixed weapon aimbot. Furthermore, the grinder related features in the script predate ToolCore and won't work either. On the upside, NPC hunting has been greatly streamlined on the server, and the availability of the tech used in turreted railguns and coilguns (only 25UBC) is much easier to simply buy at player stores. In the event you don't want to buy tech, TTU that spawn in asteroid belts or places like around Vesta have only token defenses and can be disabled safely with fixed weapons like the kess, by aiming at epstein or their weapons directly, then looted for tech from their cargo. Once you have enough for a coilgun, you can proceed directly to using that to target the weakest pirates.

    This ship got me my first turreted rail, so thank you very much! Pointing it out for anyone who stumbles onto this video now, 7+ months later, there is currently some sort of issue either with the script or the servers where shots fired from KTZ hunt aren't registering server side. KTZhunt and this ship can still be used by just letting KTZ hunt do the targeting, turning off the aimbot script before it fires, and firing the Zako with a key press. Everything else with the script and the ship work fine. I assume this is some sort of server sync issue, but can't seem to remedy it. I relog upon joining the Jupiter instance, I do !fixship in the instance. Nothing seems to get shots from KTZHunt to register with the pirates. Also, for the newcomers, MAKE SURE YOUR PDCS ARE ON, and set to AIshoot. I literally lost two ships because they were left off once and the second time they were left on mouse control. This ship is nice, but the dozen large reactors are EXPENSIVE to get mats to print multiple times.
