My first Detroit Sludge mix hit 1000 views recently, so i thought it might be time to do another episode. Unfortunately this subgenre never took off on a larger scale, which is both: good AND bad. Good, because what goes up must come down, sometimes in the most unpleasant way (Dubstep) and bad, because there is so little music available, especially on vinyl. Marshall Applewhite, one of the leading minds behind the movement, still produces great stuff, but somehow the new releases are all digital. That is why i had to use some old sludge records and combine them with more recent "slow techno" releases, which are cool in their own way, but very different from the distinct sound of the original stuff. The mix itself is pretty rough and bold. I didn't prepare anything and i was in a "rough" mood and therefore had no sense for accurate beatmatching and long transitions. ;) Enjoy!
