Pt. Suresh Misra ji was a disciple of Pt. Dhruvatara Joshi ji, Ustad Ilias Khan Sahab and Ustad Vilayat Khan Sahab.
He was the principal and professor in Sangit Bhavana (Dept of Hidustani Classical Music) in Visva Bharati University.

It was a private concert in Santiniketan where two eminent musicians as well as colleagues of Visva Bharati, Pt. Suresh Misra and Pt. Ranadhir Roy played a fantastic duet in Raag Bhairavi. They were beautifully accompanied by Shri Pulak Dutta. This concert was recorded in 1974 by Jin Nakamura, who was a student of Pt. Suresh Misra in Visva Bharati.
