    My husband has a family history of type two diabetes (mother, brother and sister all have had issues) and though he isn't at all over weight (and neither are his siblings), and we eat reasonably healthily he did tested at the top end of prediabetic early last year. (BTW stress is also a trigger for type 2 and we've had our fair share of stress). The Dr was very good, he contacted my husband and retested him and then referred him to an NHS online course which gave lots of advice and information. Initially there was probably 20 people on the course but about half dropped out before the end. The course was over 9 months, 13 zoom sessions, initially twice monthly and then the last few once per month with a review and a personal phone call from the nurse at the end to check on progress. Then retesting. My husband managed to get his reading back out of the prediabetic by small changes (not having a biscuit before taking the dog a walk! and cutting out some of the breakfast cereal in the morning) and keeping his steps up, not massive exercise workouts at all though..... The purpose of my comment is information as you didn't seem to know much about how the nhs responds to a high reading. Keep up the good work Gregg .

    Thank you David for being so open and honest about your weight and journey. There are similarities with my own journey. I was bullied with name calling, always being picked on and at the back of the queue for most things. I have always been insecure about my body, I was shy because of being obese, my Mum took me to the Dr's at 13 yrs old and sent us both away with a diet sheet. I have no idea why food has always been an issue, did something happen, was I just rewarded with food. I never ventured out much and was pretty much a homebody, me and my Mum shared a love of food. It's been the bane of my life. My heaviest weight was 20st 7lb and the one and only time I did really really well I got down to 12st 5lb, it was a combination of good old Slimming world and then Rosemary Conley, but Rosemary Conley went out of business so I stopped yet again trying! It is so hard, really hard work to lose the weight but oh so simple to gain it all back again. Early this year I was nudging just over 19st so tried to rein it back in, some small success but only by losing maybe a stone. It's been a lifetime of bad habits and yo-yo dieting for me. Not ever been happy with my body, my self esteem and confidence has always been lacking and then there's anxiety issues BUT I've joined Showmefit again and do feel more positive. I've not got into it properly yet but have tried a few of the recipes. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I hope one day to share mine :) Best wishes to you and your wife.
