A 12 minute chill
As a one handed potter there are limits to what I can make. A 12 inch bowl may not seem large when compared to what some potters make but to me its fairly big.

End of month kiln opening

I've used various colors in this glaze fire. White is not a color I use very much but it is quite effective so I may return to it again. Hope you like this batch and thanks for watching.
Unloading bisque ware, a few mishaps
Переглядів 24Місяць тому
Although not as glamourous as a glaze unloading the bisque part has to go well for the glazing to go well. Sometimes not everything survives the bisque process, for various reasons but usually human error. Mugs and smaller pieces generally go according to plan but bigger pieces sometimes crack. Anyhoo, its all part of the process and I hope you enjoy the video.
Sometimes you have to change tack

Rather than post everything that has worked well, I figured why not show the reality? Sometimes, what you set out to make does not go quite as planned. In this instance, I ended up with a smaller piece than I had planned to make...... hope you enjoy and please feel free to like, share, and comment
Kiln opening
Переглядів 32Місяць тому
As my last kiln opening video seemed popular I thought I'd upload this morning's unload. As you will see it is mostly bowls. The mugs were pieces I couldn't quite fit in my last firing. The blue glaze is called Nordic Fjord blue. My firings tend to be 12.5 hours with a slow cool, this gives me much stability on the glaze finish. Comments, likes and subscriptions are all welcome ;)

Throwing mugs one-handed
Переглядів 1832 місяці тому
I get asked about how I manage to create pottery despite having the use of one arm. This video is to offer a bit of hope to any others out there who may have a similar injury or who have other issues that its possible to make stuff without the use of two hands;)
Making a 'larger' bowl one-handed (a nine-minute chill out)

Throwing a larger pot onearmedpotter style ;) Yes, there is a slight wobble but I can live with it. No, my videos aren't the most professionally made ( actually straight off my phone ;) ) but hopefully its enjoyable
Have a 20 minute chillout
Переглядів 1804 місяці тому
I've been busy making stock. Mugs and cups are pretty easy to make, so I like throwing a few at the start of the week. I have a kiln full of bits and pieces ready to bisque so once I've trimmed everything and attached handles I can fire up the kiln. This will keep the studio nice and warm and speed up the drying process. Feel free to comment.

A few moments of chill
Pull up a chair, put your feet up and relax;)
Переглядів 4586 місяців тому
Today, after giving my studio an overdue spring clean, I thought I'd better get some bowls made. I find that it takes me several throws before I get into a rhythm, whether throwing cups or bowls. Not all of my bowls are identical but they are similar enough, handmade, each one unique in its own little way;) If you enjoy my content please like and subscribe and feel free to comment
Trimming and attaching handles Part Three

Here is the final part. Being a one-handed potter means I have to figure out ways of overcoming various tasks. My handles are functional and as they never fall off I'll stick to this method ;)
