Thanks for watching!
Did the one in the pill bottle emerge? I was wondering if laying it on its side was a good idea?
Yes! She did emerge. Probably not the best idea, but that was how I could get it to fit in the incubator.
But it worked.
They sell frame holders for the A Z frames. I put one on each end, hand it in my Lang hive, when it's drawn out and ready I take the extender off and slide them in. I use them all the time for moving from one type of hive to another. Suzanne Broullet (last name spelling isn't correct I'm sure) sells A-Z equipment and accessories. Just a note: your back doors may warp. (mine did). True Slovenian hives don't have the problems American made Slovenian hives have. Ask me how I know🙄. Place a 2x2 across the center of the door and it pulls it back straight. You will find out if your beespace is incorrect when burr comb is everywhere. I had to reconfigure the interior of mine. I hope this helps you in the future . I had to learn it on my own.
I was so invested! I did see her right at the end thanks to you doing the slow down!
Thank you for watching and commenting! ❤️
Aww Kraz - It happens. Good video, Buddy 😢
Thanks Bruce.🙏🏼
I saw it at first first time
Good eye!
Im really new 😊😊
Every body scews up, just part of the game.
Ain’t that the truth?!!
Wow so cool!
Very interesting. Good to see you guys last night.
You, too!🙏🏼❤️
Nice one Kraz, I kind of want to spread some of that on some freshly baked biscuits - yum 😎
Good video. Nothing like the taste of honey right out of the comb. I think you'd be happier with the result if you let the cut edge drain by setting the comb on a wire rack for a day or so. That way the comb won't be sitting in wet honey in container. Mike Barry (Barry's Best Honey) and Gus ? (Crain's Nest Honey) have good videos on this.
What a great idea! Thanks!🙏🏼🐝
Looking Good Kraz, I have been wanting to see you populate this thing. Nice video.
Nice video thanks for sharing :)
Looking forward to the sequel this Halloween.
Brilliant video Kraz! I may have do do a video over my questions along these lines too. Great job.
Thanks. Saved me a lot of time...and mistakes!
MACIEEEE holy crap i had to comment when i saw her.. much love to that dog <3 -this is cameron btw on my dad's computer lol
Awesome work. Very interesting.
Thanks, Chris!
Tear off the cell and look in the cup, if there is still royal jelly, then you had good number of nurse bees in the builder.
All three of them still had a bit left in there!
I'm adding your contact in this reply and into the video description. Thanks as always to my beekeeping mentor D.C. from D.C.’s Gadgets. Here is a link to his website: dcsgadgets.blogspot.com/p/beekeeping-gadgets.html?m=1 Here is a link to his UA-cam: ua-cam.com/users/tsbroke
Great video. It was nice meeting you. Happy bee keeping.
Living Miracle Homestead Thanks! Great to meet you, too!
I enjoy following your bee journey! And wonder about buying some honey and wax...
As production hopefully increases, I'll let you know what we've got to offer. I learn more and more every day!
thanks for helping the bees! Are you selling the any honey yet? I'd like some!
I probably will be in the spring. Right now most of the honey has gone to gifts. I'll let you know when we have more to sell! Thanks!❤️🐝
Hello! I wonder if you can help the work of preservation of native bees in Brazil? I have a UA-cam channel Meliponário Santa Luzia. If you can help would continue with the preservation. Thanks for answering! My name is Márcio Rainer Viçoso.
Amazon sells a food grade lubricate for the bottom bearing from McGlaughlin oil company. When you extract leave the honey gate open and let it drain into a strainer and/or a bucket. You don't want the honey level to rise above the lower bearing. It looks like it will do a fine job. To clean it just hose it out, take care not to lose the bearing. I hive 5 permanent hives that I took about 275 pounds of honey off of. Our fall flow is just getting kicked off with golden rod starting to bloom.
The alpha hive needs a new queen to calm it down. It's much nicer to tend bees that aren't easily triggered. Nice colonies. You must reside in an area that doesn't have a winter either.
In Florida on the Space Coast. Yeah, probably time to requeen. She has just been such a good girl.
Where are you located?
@@guardiankraz Just north of Baton Rouge.
All that drone, I would look at replacing her, my first year also now at 3 hives. Never tale honey from deet. Leave for the bees, looks great subscribed please do the same and good luck
Ray Sarasin Thanks Ray.
20% drone population is normal when the resources are available.
Love it Kraz!
Thanks Randy!
Ha ha. Clever video, man. Good looking bees!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Congrats! Let us know how it tastes :)
It's really good!
Do latex gloves work well against bee stings ? I have heard they do.
Examination thickness gloves give very little protection, dishwashing gloves a bit more. The thicker, the more protection. The problem is you accidentally crush more bees because you can't feel them on the frames. I prefer un-gloved hands unless the bees are fired up and very defensive. I keep long beekeeping gloves on my belt in case they get grumpy and I'm getting tagged.
Try using liquid smoke and go glove-less.
What is a swarm cell?
earthmothersheart, It is when the colony prepares another queen cell, (a wax cocoon type of thing where a new queen grows), and prepares the colony for swarming away from their established colony to start a new one somewhere with the existing queen. It is usually because the colony has run out of room. A new queen will be left behind with some of the bees.
Watched this with my son. He thinks it is pretty cool to see the inside frames covered in bees! Also liked seeing the Queen. 👍🏼
love the videos-- great to see your progress and learn about the bees!!!!
norrash6 Thanks! It’s quite an adventure!
DC!
Cool video! Great job!
Bee-utiful art by your daughter! ❤️
Do NOT use brown, dark or raw sugar!! With further research and comments from my beekeeper friends, it can be bad for the bees. It can give them dysentery!!
Pretty cool! The color is gorgeous!
Great video and glad you could use the scraping :) Thanks for sharing!
Thanks again, Suzie!
I forgot to credit Matthew Townsend for the loaner of the nuc and frames! Bad Kraz! Thanks Matthew!!🐝🐝
Does the ginger overpower the blueberry? Any other flavors?
Not so far. It blends nicely. But then again, I love ginger, so the stronger the better.
earthmothersheart, I have made other flavors: plain, mango, and a couple others, but personally like the blueberry-ginger the best.
guardiankraz I like ginger but I am worried this would be too strong.
I want to try making Kombucha, pretty cool.
I spelled Kombucha wrong at the beginning. Measure twice and cut once. And hire a professional editor.
Love it!
Looking forward to sharing this with my First Graders!
Great! Make sure to get any questions from them and I'll answer or make a video especially for them.
Will do! Maybe when you are up and running, we can do a virtual field trip on Facetime.
Adam, Sounds good. I have been into a couple of hives with friends, neighbors and the local bee club. Got to edit that down some. Stay tuned!
continue to keep us posted on your new bee keeping adventure--- i would love to keep bees but i am allergic so i am living bee keeping thru you!!!
