Meet Jonas Nguh, PhD, MSN, MSHA. Jonas is diabetes nurse educator with the Indian Health Service and a recipient of the American Association for Men in Nursing’s DAISY Health Equity Award. In this video Nguh speaks with Amanda Gibson, BSN, RN, Relias, about his joy in working with Indigenous communities and special programs he developed to help community members make lifestyle changes to control their diabetes. I’ve had these same moments and have always considered it an honor and privilege to care for patients especially at end of life. Patients have shared intimate moments , last requests and secrets with me. I recently retired and would not have changed my career for anything.

Alisha, the story of our journey and pathway in nursing is a positive and inspiring motivation for me. I too, started at step 1 in nursing as a nursing assistant, moving forward to a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), an Associate degree, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and now Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) less than 1 week ago. Truly, the journey has not been easy, but we'll worth it. Thank you for sharing your journey. 🙌🏾👏🏽

A good role model for those considering Nursing, which is a wonderful career, difficult but rewarding in countless ways. I have enormous respect for nurses of any era but especially today with very difficult hurdles and the added stress of Covid superimposed on everything else nurses must confront and work with.
