Wondering if you exceeded Combined Vehicle Weight with two adults, two dogs, full fuel, camper shell, loose cargo, trailer tongue weight, propane, sway control, battery? Tacoma only has about 980 lbs avail.

Your vacumn pump is shot

Its either the DOD lifters if they havent been deleted or the preload on the highpressure fuel pump to fuel lift is set wrong which is definitely a possibly and requires installing a fuel lifter lash cap. Very tedious job.

My 2018 Silverado 5.3 that I bought with 21 miles on it makes the same noise on every cold start. Goes away after driving for me. My Silverado is still running strong with 50K miles on it now with no recalls and no issues since day one. Only time mine goes to the shop is for lifetime oil changes. I will always be a GM customer.

This gives me pain, my 2000 Silverado sounded the same exact way

I miss the sound of my 2002 Silverado 5.3 it just sounded more aggressive lol. The 2015 I have the typical engine noise is just too weird.

My 2014 GMC Sierra SLE 5.3 males same noise and runs very strong 💪 . Noise doesn't get louder. Its the HPFP.

I have a 2015 Sierra, 14K miles and it makes the exact same clatter, love everything about the truck other than this fuel system noise, it's driving me crazy.

After changing the injectors and shimming the hp pump mine is now quiet...the only thing that makes noise is the whipple supercharger. 🤣

Did you have a rough idle at all? I have a 14 with the same noise and a rough idle and really falls on its face when I hit the gas on the freeway.

My Sierra is just as loud. There’s so many threads online from new truck owners all worked up about it lol it’s ridiculous

UPDATE: Traded truck in 5/8/21 with 106k miles. Probably the worst truck I’ve ever owned. Sad because it was the best looking truck I’ve had. But between the AC Evap core failing at 90k and I had to spend an entire weekends removing the dash, the “service trailer brake” message, the “service brake assist” and brake pedal feeling like complete garbage at times(yes I replaced the vacuum pump and had dealer do the recall, still did it), the constant loud ticking from the HP fuel pump, the final straw was the truck not wanting to shift out of 1st gear. Sorry folks but I gave up on it. After owning 3 chevys I went and bought a ram 2500. Good luck to everyone else who owns one of these

I have a similar noise. My local “stealership” recommended a motor tear down to replace the lifters and camshaft to the tune of over $6000. Mine is no where as loud but I still think it is the cause. I have no trouble codes yet so I’m gonna let it ride for a bit longer until I can do an oil analysis for metal to see if anything else is going on inside my 6.2.

I also take my dog and leave him in the vehicle. Loves it out there
