SPOONPLUGGING: HISTORY AND INSTRUCTION
This channel is a series of video clips about the unique approach to fishing called Spoonplugging, which includes knowledge about fish behavior, how they react to their environment, and how to effectively present lures to catch them. This knowledge was discovered by Buck Perry, the "Father of modern day structure fishing" in the 1930s and 1940s. Facts about fish behavior do not change over time. I began fishing this way in 1972, and in 1989 started videotaping my experiences on the water, at outings, and in the classroom. This U-Tube channel is a series of those clips which I will be adding to in the future. I invite you to subscribe and receive notice of new additions, as well as check out my Spoonplugging website: chasesfishes.com, which contains many fish pictures, instructional articles, and history notes.

Glad you enjoyed it. He was a good man.
Chase, I would love your help with an upcoming Spoonplugging video! What's the best way to contact you? Submission form on Chase Fishes wasn't working...
Email me at ckspoonpl1@aol.com
I love these spoon plugging videos, but I hardly ever see anyone have impressive catches, especially with largemouth bass. I see other people catching lots of bass without forward facing sonar, but I don't see much success with the spoonpluggers. Maybe I'm missing something
Check out my website picture gallery at chasesfishes.com
Those were some great fish on your website. And what I meant was that I see pictures like that from other websites, but what I mostly see for a spoon plugging videos are not very impressive when it comes to largemouth bass. So many people claim that this method catches bass in ways that you cannot otherwise. I'm just saying, with so many ways to record video, why don't we have more proof of it being superior to other methods of fishing? It seems to be an excellent way to catch Northern Pike, and other type of fish at times, but just mediocre at catching largemouth bass, which is the main way it was promoted. I'm not saying it isn't everything it claims to be, I just wonder why I'm not finding much proof of that, except for old photos of large catches of bass, but I get the same photos from people using other methods back in the day. I hope this doesn't come off as critical or negative, just questioning the claim a little bit. @@chaseklinesteker5879
Someone else caught their PB Pike when it grew to be 44” thanks to Don. Way to go Don!
Thank-you Chase, I have have watching a number of Your productions This best on so far Quality of this video was excellent

Thanks for sharing. I get new tips from each video that help me become a better Spoonplugger!
Great to hear!
Very instructive, I'll be watching this one multiple times. Thank you
I was lucky enough to meet Buck Perry when I was probably in the eighth grade my dad took me to the Chattanooga jamboree. I think it was called. Smart man thank you. He liked my green book because it was wrinkled and dirty and he said that’s the way it’s supposed to look if you’re using it. And then he signed it.
Buck was the man who helped us all catch more and bigger fish.
Thanks Chase - these are so enjoyable
You are welcome. Some great memories!
Thanks north ala
Thanks roger h wheeler dam. Tenn river n al

Chase, this is fantastic thank you for sharing. If you have any other lectures from Buck please upload for all to learn from.
It is best to share what you have learned
i had never thought about raising my rod tip for line length adjustment - i always reeled in a little or let out a little - I will try that - I feel dumb sometimes even after all these years
There is always more to learn
YES SIR!!!!!
Thank you Chase!
Bob was a real pioneer and very gracious.

Wow Buck is an amazing guy.
I'd heard about Farmer Bob but never seen a video with him - thanks Chase
Chase, Thanks for sharing, this really helps visualize the material that is in the study guides, I fish Lake Hickory and Lake Lookout in North Carolina, I have all of your videos saved for reference. Thanks again for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
I feel like I've gone back to the 80's - when everybody else was pounding the banks and only spoonpluggers were out there with markers. Nowdays they run over or pick up your markers. Thanks for all the videos you've been uploading lately.
Sometimes, due to heavy boat traffic, I could use only 1 marker and had to stay close, but it helped me visualize the structure.
I'm really loving these vintage videos!!!
Excellent Chase - there has never been a man like Buck
Amen!
Was a teenager in the 70s and bought the series of workbooks called spoonplugging ,wslay ahead of its time.62 years old now.
Yes! I started Spoonplugging around 1972. That same knowledge about fish is true today.
Looks like a good spoonplugger who knows the bottom of his lake and has his line sights down. If anyone is going to catch fish on a particular day it would be this guy, Thanks Chase
Another excellent video from the man - it's always good to go back and check the basics - thanks Chase
You keep posting videos that are gems I have never seen - thank you so much
Glad you like them!
Thank you for posting these videos. Having read all of Buck’s materials and trying to apply his teachings, it’s priceless to hear and see him explain with on the water examples. Thanks for all you do to make this information available.
Glad to help
Thanks for sharing. Great to hear from the master himself.
Thanks Chase - always good to go back and review Buck.
Always!
I have fond memories of camping Cygnet Lake in Canada. Dad captured one of his trips ua-cam.com/video/X_iUV7-atwg/v-deo.htmlsi=Pd83mDSxFNdZ4HUP with his buddies same as your analogue video. There's something special about that! Of course back then, Canadian Indians were allowed to hunt/trap without much regulation. Not sure about now. That's how the bears came into the video. I recall the story told to me of how two Indian boats went out into the lake to claim the bears. Otherwise, it was an awesome guys trip by all stories told!
Thanks Chase from down in Texas - only been to Canada once to the boundry waters. We dont have any of those pike down here. Not too many spoonplugger videos on youtube these days so I really appeciate this.
What year was this video shot? Is it on lake of the woods??
1989 on Lake Nagagamesis in Ontario, Canada north of White River. We stayed at Kirmick cabins
@@chaseklinesteker5879 thank you. I have been to Sioux Narrows many times. Everyone who loves fishing should experience Canadian fishing at least once. I really enjoyed your video. Brought back many great memories. Thank you
I discovered the spoon plug last Thursday, started down the rabbit hole and tried some trolling Friday eve. Caught a small bass and a eater channel. Sat thru Sun we caught 2- 3lbrs a 5 and a 4.5 all on 6xd's bc we didn't have our plugs yet. We are hooked, can't wait to see how the spoon plugs work.
Re: JB2 they are no longer in production but John Bales still has some available. Need to contact him directly.
