Hi, I’m Cal, a UA-camr from Australia. My channel is a hub for all things hands-on and practical, focusing on metal scrapping. I explore the world of metal scrapping, where I cash in on scrap metal. I share tips on efficiently collecting, sorting, and selling scrap metal, providing insights into the market and best practices for maximizing returns.

Great vid mate, but Process the sealed units and motors id say you've missed out on $300 to $400👍🍻
You have such a cute doggo
why did you scrap air conditioners is it for spair parts or is it just for fun
Thank the lord Jesus for inventing angle grinders aye?! On a serious note, I fuckng looove taking these apart, there is something so satisfying, therapeutic even about punching copper out of those channels lol
Good video god bless you 💖
Good job god bless you brother❤
Dirty aluminium what price are you getting for cable ? Well done
Even the dog could smell copper nice teardown thanks
You bought the air compressors and quoted a buy price and sell price on the scrap but I didn't see a buy price for the AC units if you didn't pay for them that's great profit compared to the air compressors and the way to go. Sorry if I missed the buy price. I just found your channel and have items to sell so I found your channel very informative and understand price change so keep up the good work
More more more 🙌🙌🙌
I assume any refrigerant was recovered ahead of time?
Great job buddy and good pay day 👍😉
@ElectronicWasteExplorers Thanks mate & it's very rewarding isn't it.
Awesome
Prices your getting mate are low you need to find a better scrapyard to sell to
Yeah mate the prices change monthly at my local scrapyard. Some months are good, other months not so good. I think the prices are pretty reasonable for a small town that I live in.
im so sry theres no copper in the transformer i hate that when it happens to me the thing look old
@tristanberecz8024 yeah mate it's unfortunate, but still fun to pull apart!
@@calowattsmindset try looking for older ones
u makie more money if u check if the motors are copper if it is take the copper out of the motors and compressors have a copper motor in there to get the copper out of it
Thanks for the comment! You can get copper out of compressors, but I personally think its bit of a time-waster, not to mention the mess they cause with oil. I'm going to make a completely separate video on compressors though mate so stay tuned!
Good breakdown. Time lapse is way to go, otherwise it gets too long. We have a fast forward button ourselves. Honest breakdown at the end. Excellent info in these increasing hard times facing many of us. Keep up the good work. Many youtubers get too obsessed with talking tooooo much. Facts are what we come here for, not to be bored by personal opinions and fake stardom..
Thank you for the comment mate, I'll take all that on board!👌
Clean it all get the copper out of compressors and motors and you probably quadruple your money
you really should wear a respirator when grinding you'll get all that dust in your lungs not worth the money if you aren't protecting yourself
Yes... I can be slack on the old PPE at times, I'll remember to start wearing one mate! Thank you for the comment!
Where'd you find the centerlink hold music?
😂😂
How much would you make if you sold the AC's as complete units?
Just selling the outdoor units to the scrapyards as is, 0.30c/kg for aircons, would've roughly been around $110.
Be careful with the beryllium part. When they try to crush the actual heating element in the magnetron its going to create cancer dust....
I had no idea, just finished some research and your 100% right, its carcinogenic. I'll remember to be careful if I handle them in the future.
That’s a nice tool bag u got. I need one like that
They still work dude. Didn't you notice the fan is still spinning?!
Hahaha, don't be fooled, I only pulled them apart for the video, I ended up putting them back together mate
@@calowattsmindset Man stop lying. GTFO
Smashing it!
Huge enough, very informative video mate.
Nice video what tools and brand of tools do you reckonmend to us for scraping
Hey Dominic! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Great question, mate. You can start off with basic hand tools such as regular and flush-cut pliers, screwdrivers (flat blade and Phillips head), a shifter, and a set of Allen keys. Oh, and a hammer comes in handy when things don't come undone-you can smash it to pieces! Eventually, with all the money you save from scrapping, you can start looking into a grinder and an impact driver.
Another good one, cheers for all the information you cover👍
After the video was filmed, I took everything from the AC units to the scrapyard. I’d like to correct a few things. Firstly, the PCDs are categorized under TV and monitor boards, which are valued at $0.25/kg, instead of motherboards, which were $2.10/kg. Secondly, the copper pipes from the outdoor units, which have the reversing valve that is brass, categorize them as domestic copper. Leaving them as is would result in a price of $8.25/kg, rather than No. 2 copper, which is $9.40/kg. Thank you for watching once again, and I apologize for my mistakes. I’m learning every day!
You should be getting the copper out of the condenser and the motors and make more money
Well now we know to be on the lookout for compressors in our area 😂.
@LiquidMetalLab If you can only pick out the copper winding air compressors, your winning!
@@calowattsmindset We did recently break down a welder on our channel and it had aluminum windings was kind of a bummer!
Great video mate!
Excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to make it.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
That was very interesting, an engaging topic but a lot of tedious hard work; let's hope you can find something else more to your financial benefit.😊
Thank you for the comment! Yes, it can be strenuous at times, but I enjoy the process and learning experience. I hope you enjoyed the video!
How would you know if the capacitor wasn’t discharged? Would it arc out? Is that safe to do? Great video mate very informative.
Good question! Yes, if a capacitor isn't fully discharged, it can definitely arc when its terminals are connected or touched, depending on how much charge is left. You might see a spark or even get a shock in some cases, which is why it's always a good idea to safely discharge capacitors before working on them. To know if a capacitor is completely discharged, you can test between the two terminals using a multimeter, which will give you the remaining voltage.
Looking forward to seeing more, great video👍
Thanks mate, appreciate it!
Those pressure guages and regulations would surely have an ebay resale market.
Great suggestion! I just wouldn’t be willing to spend the time trying to sell pressure gauges online; it would take up a lot of precious time that I could be using to scrap other items.
Great job m8
Thanks mate, appreciate it!
Hi, great video Cheers from Hungary 🇭🇺 👋 Why didn't you disassemble the compresor part and the pressure regulator Cheers, keep up the good work . Tomi from Zalău
Thanks for the comment! Yeah, I did mention in the video that I would take the regulators apart. Off camera, I disassembled one, and it just took way too long. Not worth the time and money. I'm planning to make a video on micro scrapping, and I’ll definitely include a pressure regulator as one of the items.
Excellent video, please tell me more about the scales.
Thanks for the comment! Will have a video cooking up in the near future about the scales!
Awesome vid mate, keen to see more
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. More content coming soon!
