Central Washington - 2019 YZ250 - April 1st 2023
This is one of the places you can ride all year round in Washington! I've been sitting on this footage for the last year! Watching my old Yamaha videos makes me think about how fast and light this bike was! It's got me thinking of ways to shave weight off my KTM...

New Trails November - Part Two - KTM 250XC-W 2024

I just did a transmission oil change and it was quite a bit darker than I thought it was going to be! The first recommended service is the "break-in" oil change after the first operating hour. The second recommended oil change is after 45 operating hours! WOW! Way too long! And yeah it's a 250 so I'm using the clutch a bit more in technical terrain but that's still way too long! I would recomme...

Update on bike setup : I switched up my gearing again in the search for extra torque in the gnarly stuff! I was at a 13t front sprocket and 47t rear sprocket, now Im running 12-45 and I went back to the less aggressive throttle cam and voila! The sweet spot! I could see how this low gearing would be the right move for technical riders. It is defiantly helping me stay off the clutch in slower mo...

This should have been Oct. 22nd Part 3, but the 3rd part was lost, gone forever, never coming back! Mistakes were made, a lesson was learned! Moving on! :) This ride however has been sitting on a spare SD card in my desk for a over a year now and I've been consumed by creating new videos with my brand new bike! And there is much more where this came from!

This is part 2 of 3. I thoroughly enjoy the fall weather in the Pacific Northwest! The changing of the colors with lower temperatures and fewer riders out on the trails makes it something I look forward to every year! I want to get out and do as many rides as I can before the season closes! Part 3 coming soon! Cheers!

New camera angle! I have a suspicion I'm getting better and better on this bike and getting more and more capable on tricky sections like the ones in this video. I've never owned a 300cc 2 stroke. (The ultimate trail weapon) I wanted to start with the 250cc so I can learn better clutch control and throttle input and all the rest because the 250cc requires more skill and input than the 300cc XC-...

This is the last of the ride I did on October 10th 2024. I have a ride I'm doing tomorrow I'm super excited for! Sorry if this one comes out a bit shaky in spots. There is a lot of little things to learn about camera settings and even battery power having an effect on resolution and how smooth it looks at the end. Cheers!

Bike set up continues! I went to 111 mm of rider sag and switched the handlebar mount around to the forward most position in the triple clams. I also just got a TUSK handlebar bag mounted on the bar pad. A little more weight on the front end with the sag set just right has made quite the difference. I also set my clickers in to 14 clicks out on everything and 1 and 3/4 turns out for highspeed c...

    It looks like it has lots of get up and go? I’m an intermediate rider and most recently been riding an older 450. I enjoy a bike that can be a bit rowdy but more wanting to ride enduro. Do you find the 250 xcw has enough go to keep things interesting when you want to get on it and a little wild? Been looking at this and the TE. Thanks!

    • @ParkerRichards360
      @ParkerRichards360 2 дні тому

      Absolutely! If you're thinking of going for more of an enduro capable motorcycle, the TE250 or 300, the 250 or 300XC-W, the EC250 or 300(GasGas) are all fantastic options! You literally can't make a wrong choice there! I choose the 250XC-W over the 300XC-W because it likes to be ridden a bit faster than the 300, it feels a bit lighter than the 300, it has more of a 2-stroke personality than the 300 because of its more exciting power-band, and I found a screamin good deal on one just before the 2025s were released. Another reason I went with the 250 is I heard lots of people say it takes more skill than the 300. I wanted a bike to push me to improve my skill (clutch and throttle control) instead of going for the one everyone said was typically easier to ride but was less exciting! Hope this helps. Love to answer any other questions! Cheers!

    Great job. Only thing I would say is keep your RPMs up higher and use the clutch that’s gonna help you preload the motor and then when you let it out, you’ll get a real good jump and then you can keep your momentum. Thats what I try to do situations like you’re in. Also rear tire I’m not familiar with the Tusk Talin but in situations like you’re in the tire that I have always used is the IRCJX8. That thing is insane for rocky hard packed terrain.

      Thanks Bob! Great handle by the way! I appreciate the feed back! Yeah I have a lot of experience with wide open desert and faster riding so this stuff is new to me but WOW is it a good feeling when you can make it up a tricky section easier than you did the last time! I just did a few performance upgrades to the 250XC-W: Medium comp TSP head insert with oversized power valve cover and FMF Gnarly expansion pipe. I can't wait to try it out on the trail in this video! I've got to get around to testing some IRC tires I've heard really good things. I'll remember what you said about the clutch! Cheers!

      Super fun bike huh!! Yeah I moved it to the left so I can give the bike a little throttle and press the button at the same time comfortably. . After a few starts I was convinced I could start the bike faster this way! And the kill switch has been on the left for every other bike I've owned so Im used to that on the left. What gearing are you running? Stock?

      I went to a 47t in the rear (stock is 45) and Im dangerously close to going to a 48t just to see if it gets even better. First gear is nice and low for the nasty stuff but what it has done to second gear is the best part! Gearing this down with the transmission they use makes second gear the most usable gear on a two stroke Ive ever experienced! Thanks for your question!m Cheers!

    Why did you move the start / stop buttons to the left side?

    • @ParkerRichards360
      @ParkerRichards360 Місяць тому

      Ahh great question! I consumed a lot of content of these KTM branded 2023-2024 machines before purchasing and noticed a common trend of the guys riding these machines...the wrist on the throttle hand being contorted a bit to give the bike a little throttle while pushing the start button with the same hand. After having it on the right side awhile, I realized it looked uncomfortable for a good reason: It is! On the left side I am free to have the kill switch in the same spot as every other bike I've own AND be able to comfortably give a blip of the throttle while pressing the start button. This also means you can start the bike faster being able to do both at the same time comfortably!! Thanks for your question! Cheers!

    Where are you riding ? That is some sweet scenery!

  • @soldierforeggs
    @soldierforeggs Місяць тому

    Pretty spot on description. Depending on how you like to ride the two stroke you make the most power revved up so you have to be on the pipe and maintain more speed and momentum which can be a blast but it suffers if you lose that. The 300 makes that low end easy linear power so it doesn't really give a damn as long as you have traction but doesn't have that hit and playful speed like a 250. Both are great just depends on what you like more and where you ride.

    • @ParkerRichards360
      @ParkerRichards360 Місяць тому

      Thanks man! It's been a blast getting to ride these back to back! I had an idea to change the gearing to get the 250's second gear as close as I can to the 300's first gear for getting that low-end traction that comes effortless on the 300! Might not work very well but right now I have a 47 on the rear and it defiantly seems like a step in the right direction for that 2 gear traction!

    Beautiful area, looks like WA. I got the same bike, with about 5.5 hours on it. Does yours spooge a ton of oil out of the exhaust? If I clean my muffler, and then ride one tank of gas until the fuel light comes on, there will be oil all over the end of the can, the oil will run down the bottom length of the muffler, and then just start to drip on the swingarm. I am OK with it if it is normal on these bikes, but seems excessive. Runs great though. Using Motorex 2T oil in the injector tank.

    • @ParkerRichards360
      @ParkerRichards360 2 місяці тому

      Dang that seems a little excessive. Mine will run to about halfway down the silencer on a long ride with lots of lugging but if Im going a little faster and only ride for 2 to 3 hours, the oil only makes it down an inch or two on the spark arrested cap I put on. I typically try to keep the rpms up a little more just cuz that's where the power is on the 250s.
