The advantage of using this response system is that it allows the Responder to distinguish between 0-2 points and 3-4 points by eliminating the 2NT balanced hand bid. The Responder bids 2♥ to show less than a King with 0-4 points in Q’s and J’s. The Responder bids 2♠, 3♣, 3♦, or 2NT (5+ ♥’s) to show a 5+ card suit with 8+ points. The Responder shows a 0-2 point hand from a 3-4 point hand by bidding the lowest available bid from 2N, 3♣, 3♦, and 3N, called a 2nd Negative, if the Responder does not have a fit for Opener’s suitor a 5+ card suit with 3-7 points.

7.2.01 Overcall After Both Opponents Bid
Long time no see😊
excellent instruction,Allen!
Could you do a Kaplan Interchange [KI5] lesson, too?
Thank you Allen! Never seen a comprehensive version of this conventions, up until now.
41:04 in the first slide you have told that opener will bid 1NT if he holds balanced hand irrespective of 4 card majors so by this rule 1NT will be the definite bid..
How does responder show strong hands - 15-17 points or 18+ points ? Will these all go through the 2D route?
Thank you VERY much!
Thank you!
Thanks I learned a lot 😦
excellent review of reevaluation. I find it very useful.
its Jacoby as in the Jacobian Revolt not Ja Coby
Thanks a lot!
surely after 1H-2S - better to use 2NT to show extras and use 3NT as weaker.
Can you explain the line 2-3-4=7-8+3=2 level ? How does 2-3-4 = 7 ? Where does the 8 come from? And how is the 3 determined?
You describe a jump to 4C 19:04 as 4 card club suit - but on the next slide you say 4C is a void - so which is it? By the way on the next slide you have two hands with 14 cards :-)
Allen, thank you for this. A wonderful lesson/review. This explained the topic of breaking transfers very well: uncomplicated, clear and supported by excellent examples. Again, thanks!
1h - 2h - how does opener show a void in spades - 3s bid would in theory show a 5611 or 56x2 shape? do you play 3s is a void/singleton here or 56 shape?
on the 3nt 3rd hand where you held x, AKQxxx,AJxxx,xx - you actually have 14 cards - i'm guessing you are 1552 shape. You said after 3nt 4d shows a cue bid and that it probably won't have the ace of clubs...but if you are playing gerber over this 3nt then you only have 4d to cue bid below game - should this be a last train cue-bid - or should you abandon gerber and just cue bid instead?

Thank you:)
