No offense, but this is another example of only digesting the title and refrain of a song and not the emotionally powerfully sad lyrics. The song is about a lonely desperate woman who craves human touch and love so much her life has become a series of tawdry, empty one night stands. She's not remotely heroic. Nice job with the video however. Would have worked better with "Holding Out For a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler.

Ignore X-Men: The Last Stand. If you want to understand why the "Dark Phoenix" leaves such a lasting impact, collect any collection you can afford (from Uncanny X-Men #101-108 and then 129-138). There are plenty of omnibus' to make it cheaper to read. And remember that Jean Grey was the weakest character of the X-Men. Not only powers-wise, but just character-wise. She had been written as "just the token girl" on the team before she "died" and resurrected as an awesome power (All due to Chris Claremont and John Byrne . Her arc was what got me hooked on Marvel back in the day, and it remains the touchstone of my adolescence after I long left Marvel behind-- Before they ruined it completely, this would bring me to tears). This is THE story of power corrupts & absolute power corrupts absolutely. And before they ruined it by the crap that followed by assholes who wanted Jean back just because X-Factor, it was THE heartbreaking, shocking story arc of the era. This was the "good guy who did a terrible thing, and now must pay the price" moral tale. Fuck everything Marvel did afterward. [And mutherfuck the horrendous way the movies crammed it in as just another story beat.] Just forget what you'll see ( and see her die again). It's the only way to understand the impact of what we read firsthand. There wasn't any other character who had been usurped by her fantasy-powers so completely, and who didn't get a last-second save. (And remember too, because it matters, we were waiting month-to-month wondering how Jean would be saved/redeemed--- Only to have her suicide because of the horror she inflicted and because as a human, she understood she couldn't lock down her own impulses into the future).
