Does anyone know what tuning he is in for this version? I have been struggling to get the finger picking style down for his awesome version of Cajun Moon he did at the roxy in the mid 80's and found this here version while desperately seeking better footage that might show his hands more clearly. But now I want to learn this one too.. lol.. I recently found out that JJ is buried just about 10 miles away from where I live. I wanted to someday visit his grave and possibly bring my acoustic and maybe a few doobies and spend maybe an hour there paying my respects. And if it feels right maybe i will pick up the guitar and play something, or if I'm really ballsy I could do renditions of Cajun Moon and maybe King city. Problem is that for some reason I can not get down that Tulsa style finger picking rhythm. Those are the only 2 songs, in my 34 years of playing guitar, that I have tried to learn and failed to do so. Its strange, I have always considered myself pretty good at finger picking. With those 2 songs I am able to just do my own thing and finger pick in my own style and do not struggle at all. Buit its that Damn tulsa fingerstyle (specifically the thumb striking the bass notes and alternating back and forth between 2 strings, while the fingers play the weaving , often syncopated melodies on the higher strings.) In the next few days I am determined to finally put in as much time as it takes to practice, reverse engineer (if i have to) and hopefully figure out and become fluid with this tulsa fingerstyle. But after seeing this video, I am thinking that learning this version of cajun moon would be a pretty good warm up,or if nothing else, a sort of confidence booster, before once again attempting to slay this two headed dragon, by finally figuring out how to play the 2 songs that he opened his 2nd set at the Roxy back in 1986. Here is the link to the 2 songs in case anyone might not have heard these amazing versions: Cajun Moon @ the Roxy - ua-cam.com/video/eh_JMj_YSo8/v-deo.htmlsi=YbikYidNEAq4GJQY King City @ the Roxy - ua-cam.com/video/sQtbXl42zmo/v-deo.htmlsi=vJqlIt0bSOd1rbcy

J J Cale inspired so many musicians, Clapton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kansas, for starters. First time I heard this was on Kansas' first album back in the 70s.
