For the first time in around ten years, a group of ringers managed to get permission to ring on all ten bells although in this video just the tenor can be heard being rung. There has been a church on this site for over a 1000 years, although this church dates from 1719. The bells were cast in 1726 by Abraham Rudhall II and maybe were cast form the same moulds as saint Mary's Lichfield. The church was paid for by Arkwright (the mill owner) when he lived in Dunstall hall. The church is very beautiful and the tower almost has a French castle flavour to it. The church was designed by Naylor of Derby and was constructed between 1903-05 and was payed for by Bass. In 1905 a 21cwt bell was placed in an eight bell frame, then in 1947 five more bells were added cast at Taylors (being called the "victory peal") This was also payed by Bass. There are still two empty pits, but non the less it is a very nice six and possibly one of the best in the country! ...
