JRC Global All You Can Eat Buffet, Wood Green Vlog
Переглядів 4,8 тис.5 років тому
This has been edited from Perry Exploring's 10½ minute Vlog dated June 2018 and is being uploaded here temporarily. This is the latest foodie thing apparently - an All You Can Eat in Wood Green, north London. Unfortunately Perry's commentary isn't in English but it sounds like he's less than impressed by what he's seen in this particular restaurant. A lot of the fare on offer looks less than ap...

Some of the many personalities who lit up the school previously known as Creighton Comprehensive School in Muswell Hill, North London in its formative years from 1967 to the mid-70s. The choice of photos used here has been determined mainly by what's currently available online in the public domain. Music by The Kinks. Use of Ray Davies's copyrighted music gratefully acknowledged. 1960-62 A-Leve...
How to insert names into your photos

A very easy-to-follow guide showing how to create textboxes for you to insert names etc into your saved or downloaded photos. You'll need a PC with a mouse with left and right buttons, and to be familiar with left clicking and keeping your finger pressed on left button to highlight words or to "drag" the textbox. Be sure to save your work with a NEW filename so that you don't overwrite your ori...
Ossie Mair - Muswell Hill and Hollywood Star!

Video compilation of Tollington/Creighton School's unsung hero. A fine and versatile comic actor, succeeding against all in the odds in that most unforgiving of places, the self-styled Entertainment Capital of the World.

The much-loved and missed Ritz/ABC Cinema in Muswell Hill, closed in January 1978. Grateful acknowledgement to Compton Lodge Studios for their excellent footage and Ralph Stephenson and Dukashenka for use of their Flickr photos.
Muswell Hill 1940

Edited scenes featuring some former iconic Muswell Hill landmarks from 1940, now sadly lost forever. Particularly poignant are the images of the virtually forgotten 2nd park on what is now the site of the John Baird pub in Fortis Green Road. From Public Gardens, 1940's - Film 192 by HuntleyFilmArchives.

Muswell Hill 1959-60 and 2017

A Then and Now comparison, based on footage of Muswell Hill from the 1959-60 film Beauty in the Borough. I have not tried to copy shot for shot the original unknown cameraman's work. And I like to really look around, hence the 360 degree shots. Music by Michel Legrand and Lalo Schifrin, use of copyright material gratefully acknowledged.

The full version of this 1959 dated cine film on floral beauty in the former Borough of Hornsey , now LB Haringey. Some great footage shot in Fortis Green Road, Muswell Hill Broadway and the site of the former Muswell Hill Rail Station. The (unknown) cameraman seems to lose his way a bit towards the end of this film with some strange location choices, but still a unique glimpse of life in Horns...
Muswell Hill Broadway 1959-60

From the film Beauty in the Borough, now with the London Screen Archives, officially dated 1959. The film showing at the Ritz Cinema "Dentist in the Chair" however, made and released in 1960 would suggest that most of this cine film was shot around mid-1960. Cameraman unknown.
John Baird 1959

From the 1959 film Beauty in the Borough, now with the London Screen Archives. Cameraman unknown. The John Baird pub and park in Fortis Green Road, Muswell Hill. Bizarrely, iron raillings now surround the garden beds giving the park an eerie prison-like feel.
Hardly changed a bit.
Great video. You would never believe it was 65 years old . And them kids running about are pensioners know ,me includiud.
I remember the benches by the old station / primary school from the 80s. There were two old sisters (or a mum and daughter?) that sat there all day. Mrs Jones? Not sure if they were homeless, but it seemed like they were always there
So nice and so clean, wonder what happened
i walked those streets
I love the canvas awnings all the shops had back then!
Lovely happy times, I was eight. ❤
What happened to the name “William Grimshaw”?
The school made. “William grimshaw” and l was there the same time as the Kinks and Rod “the Mod “ Stewart! The Kinks did not have a drummer from the school!
How firm is the 1959 date? At 19:43 is a famous advert 'Guinness 5 million daily' poster by Abram Games which is nearly always dated 1960-61
Muswell hill, now famous for a bunch of aggressive toxic cyclists that killed someone and never apologised.
A nice film, looks lovely. John Letchley a relation came from there.😊
WORST SERVICE AND HYGIENE WHILE QUALITY OF FOOD EXPERIENCED I am writing this review with deep disappointment after visiting the restaurant to celebrate my mum's 70th birthday. Despite reading mixed reviews, we decided to give it a try due to claims of new management. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an odd sight - a security guard at the door and a door with smashed-in glass. Our party included over 30 people, including children. When settling the bill, we were informed that my 12-year-old niece had to pay the adult price of £26. This was surprising, as there was no indication on the website about such a requirement. Upon discussing this with the cashier, we were met with rudeness, and the manager joined in, insisting it was because of our niece's height. Attempting to reason with the manager was futile as they dismissed our concerns and even suggested she could be 18 based on appearance alone. It was disheartening to experience such unprofessionalism on my mum's special day, especially considering the manager's history of rudeness, as I later discovered. To make matters worse, the staff handling food were not wearing hair nets, raising concerns about hygiene standards. The security guard's inappropriate comment only added to the overall negative experience. It's disappointing when a celebration turns into a regrettable encounter due to poor management and service.

also love the Dirty Harry music addition at the end of the video clip, nice touch 👍
great video, love the composition of now and then. I prefer 1959, things looked dignified, smart, no road marking like look left, look right, no box junctions and all manner of nanny state we have now. Also too commercialised now days, too much ads on your face.
Driver's road manners were bad even then. Cars and even a bus failing to give way to pedestrians waiting at a zebra crossing.
Men in Jacket and Trouser’s as Normal every day. women in hats Cars back then were not fussed about stopping for people crossing on Zebra crossing,it must be 50 years since i was there And honestly i cannot relate to much🤔
1:11 Pretty sure that's my Mum on the right taking a rest on the garden seat! 🙂🙂🙂
Never changed
Very much a utopia then...now it is a crap hole populated by ungrateful immigrants!
Good work
I feel so homesick, I wish I had a time machine, To go back in time to exiperence the way it was would be absolutely a dream come true- I grew up in Muswell Hill, worked on Fortis Green Road, a little shop called Zu, also another lovely shop called, One Foot in the Door, J'Zan and The Gallery on the Broadway and Diva Art. The best and happiest days of my young life, so many wonderful characters, lovely old benches and beauitful churches , always somewhere to sit and soak up the beauty of a very very beauitful place!! 🌟 Thank you for this wonderful heartwarming video the music so touching and sweet. X
This place is disgusting stay away
Can anyone identify the location in the clip from 19:26 to 19:47?
Turnpike Lane?
Home of Ray and Dave Davies of the Kinks. Birthplace of "You Really Got Me"
Still looks the same. Considering all Muswell Hillians still try to live in the 70's and wanna be hipsters
How long can you stay in there gor
nice video i am your fan
It is truly astounding how little Muswell Hill has changed from the 50s till now considering how much the rest of London has changed. I grew up in this area in the 70s and while Highgate, Archway, Crouch End, Wood Green etc seem to have changed a lot, Muswell Hill hasn't.
Breathtaking
Nice to see views of the closed Muswell Hill station..... just think, if London Transport had opened the already electrified line from Finsbury Park & Highgate through to here after the war how much better the road traffic would be now. Instead they claimed Green Belt legislation stopped the Northern Line extensions (true for north of Edgware but not here!) and removed the electrification equipment in the late 1950s to electrify........ the Epping to Ongar branch of the Central Line! deep in the Essex countryside......
They definitely backed the wrong horse
Magnifique...rien à ajouter!
London has lost so much charm
That crossing at the beginning is still busy today
I love this. I wish you had photos of my old road Creighton Avenue.
Wow, at the time that the Davies brothers were still living there! I lived there for 18 years but I just cannot recognise the place where the kids are playing, especially that underpass. Where is it?
It's at the top of the hill, Muswell hill.. Where the junior school was built.. It's all heavily grown with trees now. It's the start/end of the Parkland walk
Lovely memories, thanks so much :). I lived further down Colney Hatch Lane on Wilton Road as a kid, but each weekend would hop on a 134 bus to Tottenham Court Road to find adventure in the West End, passing through Muswell Hill Broadway each time, and riding round that oddly placed but somehow magical roundabout….
I lived on Coppetts road, Nelson Mandela Close.
I love the channel name lol.
Wish he'd shown St James Parade down to the John Baird Pub. My Dad owned Bond's Tobacconist & Confectioners opposite the Odeon. Also there were two other similar shops - Henry's and another. Would love to have seen a picture of them.
Muswell Hill is my spiritual home! it's where I grew up. Love it. lovely images, lovely music.
lol spiritual, how??
Wonderful find! Back when old people could sit outside or go for a walk without fear. Although using a zebra crossing could be hazardous - you could be waiting a long time before a driver actually stopped!
They can still do that in Muswell Hill 🙄
@@fredmila Exactly. It's hardly Tottenham and Wood Green lol which is where I'm from. Then again we all fall under Haringey much to N10's desire
I went to w Grimshaw when it first opened john harper
Great film, so many memories. Lessiters the home-made chocolate shop at the beginning, and I think it's my mum sitting on the bench at 00:38! Very surprised that the bus doesn't stop for the pedestrians at the crossing. And I could have been one of those kids at the end!
Thank you so much for this vision of the past...I used to go every day to school at William Grimshaws at the same time with Rod Stewart and most of the Kinks. Walk every day from a Bus from Crouch End...lovely walk I though!...I think now that the cars should be done in for! O well times change!....doesn't they?
I did not know Road Stewart wen to that school.
lived there in the seventies as a student. nice memory. from Switzerland🇨🇭
Can't remember the building name now, but did you live in the student accommodation next to the church on Pages Lane?
@@wodenravensHello . no i lived in Dukes Avenue 16, a bit under a church, i worked part time at the KFC without permission since switzerland is not in the UE.
Interesting, even though I have visited Muswell Hill once the once, to go to the (Odeon, I think) cinema, back in 1977. But tell me please what is the music played, it rings of familiarity for me.
It's from the soundtrack of the 1980 film Somewhere in Time composed by John Barry starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour.
@@muswellhillbilly3931 Thank you very much, it has been haunting me.
bloody hell then it all was more epic :(
Hasn't changed a day!
I8 lived there for a while in the seventies . Groovy area... Kinks TOWN!
