The part OP is holding at 7:13 that's inset for shorter shifting rod... Does anyone know where I can find this? I pulled parts from an MR2 with MT for my conversion and don't have this part.
Alternatively, can you just use the old rod and mate it with the new front plate to mount the shift selector hardware?
🔥🔥🔥🔥
What were your symptoms to make you replace the entire compressor? Ours would blow hot air every now & then, but gets back cold at times too. Our Clutch Faceplate gap was out of spec. It should be between 3mm - 6mm, and ours was 8mm. I removed the clutch, removed 1 of the 3 shims and replaced the faceplate. It has been working perfectly ever since. I also made a video. ua-cam.com/video/RnsRK8HYRyU/v-deo.html
This particular clutch was fine but the compressor had a broken seal inside making a bad clack noise when activating leading to no compression or flow.
Is it the same location for a 09 Honda civic hybrid?
@@Jazthakid no idea but it's pretty easy to pop under there and see it if you have a jack. Make sure you use a jack stand.
@Jazthakid A lot of these hybrid vehicles use the electric assist inside of the transmissions to spin the engine. I have seen some without external starters.
@@carboydino thanks for the response! I’ll check it out also I subscribed 😁💪🏼
FIRSTTT that’s my dad😎
@@Matrixshine That's right I'm over here trying to get famous lol
This video is disgusting. This job is WAY harder than you made it look. If you don’t have a lift, prepare to jack the car up an lay on your back underneath the car for several hours. You should definitely remove the front section of the exhaust otherwise you’ll have no space to work.
I did this video on my back in a driveway and thru the wheel well without removing the exhaust! Nowhere near several hours. Basic knowledge of tools and mechanic work is needed to do this. I am always happy to take on the job if its too much for you! No shame ok and you can even watch!
Thanks brotha 🎉

Good job bro 👍

@@carboydino welcome brother
Wow...
Do you have to create a vacuum in the system first before introducing the refrigerant?
@@ralphdoid Yes I just suck at making videos and I left out a few parts but after you assemble the lines you pull a vacuum and then you induce the refrigerant. This helps eliminate contaminations like humidity and air. It can also help you test for leaks during that vacuum. I have seen many mechanics do jobs and not pull it vacuum and everything is fine but I believe down the line the contaminants catch up with you.
@@carboydino Thanks for the reply. Yes, I was certain a vacuum is pulled during the process but wasn't sure at what step.
@@ralphdoid yeah basically right after you put everything back together you pull a vacuum to verify there are no leaks and to decontaminate the system. At that point you charge the freon and turn on the car.

When is this guy gonna put out a new video sheesh
Today go look!!
good day, does the kit from MW contain all the necessary parts for the conversion? can the conversion be done with original parts from a manual transmission car?
If I'm not mistaken most of the parts were from factory vehicles other than a bracket
So I think I had to get three different kits from them depending on the model of transmission and also the type of car. Feel free to give them a call they are pretty cool in getting you into the right parts.
they r the best
i'm just finish to install this Kit and i really rediscover my car SMT is shit ! but i' have a CEL error now P0450 and P0451 it's about sensor pressure Canister and he work great before modification and i don"t know how resolve it again...
You are awesome
where can i get the conversion kit
I'm speechless and so damn jealous - thanks for sharing
Hay man did you have a link for this kit
t30 for the handle and lock?
thanks alot Dino, very detailed video it was perfect. it helped me so much. keep it up. great job!!!
Great video, thank you
I love your videos. I must’ve watch the video 10 times while doing my swap. I finally got it done. Everything is great no cold or anything but for some reason my car is idling at 1500 RPMs.
So wait when you swap to manual shifting it's no longer up and down SMT motion? Is it possible just to change to manual clutch and still keep the paddle shifting?
No the system will bug out and put you into safe mode second gear all the time
@carboydino ok so paddle shifters are no go. but if it isn't an up and down motion to change gears then it's not a sequential transmission
You are absolutely correct It is not a sequential transmission. It is by all form and function a regular manual transmission. It has a solenoid that pushes the clutch in and another two shifts solenoids that move the shifter. The only thing that is up and down tap is your controls. I believe it is the most inefficient and ridiculous blend of automatic and manual transmission but thanks to them doing it this way you just have to change a couple of components and you can shift the exact same transmission yourself with h pattern because that's exactly what it is. A regular standard transmission.
@carboydino wow that is just downright silly haha I need to convert mine
I wish this could be done in Australia. Can't find anyone in the country who is comfortable doing this swap.
Have you thought about doing it yourself? The monkeywrench kit is pricey to get over here but fairly rewarding to do on your own, I've almost completed my conversion in Melb and it has cost me around $4500 for the kit including shipping, plus 500 in import fees.
That's great to hear and I commend you. Unfortuntely, I have no tools or a garage and he only time I have ever used a screwdriver was to unplug a drain.@@williamlake11
@@williamlake11 I'm too scared and the last time I used a screwdriver I almost lost an eye.
This is one of the most comprehensive videos I've seen thank you very much for sharing. You are the bomb my friend.
Ty been using this to install in my 2002 spyder. My kit didn't require changing shift shaft. Only thing is I wish you had done more video specifically on the wiring and ecu. About 2/3 complete now. Hope to have it running again in a few days
I hit all of the points needed to do the swap let me know if I'm miss anything. The instructions weren't that clear that came with everything.
What is done with ecu and tcu tho. Not covered on video
Hi Dino (hope spelt your name right, else apologies) , Many thanks for your video instruction with the most comprehensive steps, however. What is need to be done with the 3 holes that were left over once the SMT pump assembly has been removed? In this case, I guested, we just terminated or block them, right? Thanks again. Hay
If you are talking about the ones left over after removing a component, as long as they are not drain plugs or any type of structure piece that is needed everything will go exactly as you see it in the video.
Awesome video. About to go try this. How’d you prevent that little screw from falling?
Is there any difference if you do this on prefacelift model ?
No difference
iirc most pre face lift models are 5speed but the conversion should be the same
Did you change ECU?
For factory corolla ecu.
@@carboydino bro, did you bypass the inmobilizer? Or change the ECU and, key and key cilinder?
Roof wifi is dome light
So crazy.
my pump was leaking and weak , it took over 30 sec to stop pumping , also 2 of my position sensors fail , they are over $200 each , my smt fail on me 3 times(130k) , I was stuck on the traffic light 3 times, they are not reliable ! i did the swap with my friend , it is not too hard to do, basic tools ,jack stand , drill will do the job , the kit from moneywrench included everything you need!
Not only are the SMTs notoriously unreliable, but the oem fluid to refill the hydraulic system is over $150 a liter in most places. luckily at 190k miles mine is still kicking, but I'm doing this swap as soon as possible.
Just use dot 3 brake fluid in lieu of the special SMT fluid.
25k ?
for the kit or install?
How much do you guys charge for job like this?
I would have to see. Parts where alot. Are you in houston?
Love the video bud, currently doing the same but not with the kit on a 95% complete MRS but I might need some help with a few things: The wiring sections, what to remove from the gearbox and is there a link for the clutch installation template? Oh, one more thing, did you replace the SMT ECU with a MT one or is it the same one already in the car? Thanks again for uploading the video!!
Did you ever get the answer to these questions. I am about to do my car and want to know more!
@@adamr4003 Not on here, but I did get help from forums. Important thing is manual ECU, manual injector loom and ask about
Thank You!!!
Can you provide more detail/video on changing the ground? It's not clear what exactly you changed. Thanks!
