Interesting perspective. I don’t mind flawed characters if they are done well but often I just feel it’s too forced lilt they “have” to be morally grey. I like it if it feels natural and fits with the story but otherwise.. anyways thank you so much for leaving a comment it means the world to me and I truly appreciate the opportunity to talk books with you!

nicolreads I definitely can understand that. Divergent was an exception but usually I have a 100 page rule because some books don’t have a great start imo but then get better as they go. Usually by 100 pages though I have a pretty good idea of whether I’m going to like it or not. :)

Hey Genevieve, I totally can understand that. I love audio books! I just really am wondering if there's a contemporary out there for me. I don't believe the audiobook for the hate u give would've changed my opinion on the story because it was the story itself that I thought wasn't very well done as supposed to something like finding the names difficult or struggling to differentiate characters voices, etc. I read six of crows and reread it with the audiobook and loved it from the start. Josh and hazels guide to not dating is the first romance I've ever tried and honestly just didn't like it. I don't mind a semi predictable story but I still have to be engaged and interested in it and connecting with the characters and I just didn't with these. Anyways ill definitely keep this in mind fir the future. I get that mood too where I just want something happy and that when I like what I like to call fluffy fantasy. Very happy, fairytale esque fantasy. Think the selection series by Kiera Cass. Loved that. Thank you so much for the comment it is very very much appreciated 💞💓💝

We all need to be kind. I disagree with calling people out so loosely. I don't think we are going to find that balance. Calling someone "racist" because they didn't enjoy a book written by a POC author will never sit well with me. Not enjoying a book does not make one predjudiced. On the other hand I do agree if someone is being overtly predjudiced and hateful towards a specific group of people, then they are not being kind and therefore we should perhaps suggest that they take a second look at their own actions and beliefs and remind them that kindness is required and violence will not be tolerated. Any -ism that refers to a form of predjudice needs to be viewed as a very serious accusation and given that weight. If you are going to call someone "racist" be sure that they are in fact portraying and exhibiting "racism". Hate for a group of people based on their race. Not enjoying a book written by a member of a particular group does not in and of itself infer or imply hatred towards that group. Anyways thank so much for watching ❤️❤️😀👍
