safety concerns for Goxawee rotary tool
How are you doing? Has winter hit your area yet?
Yea not worth 5 dollars let alone 700
That is quick! Looks awesome!
Thats awesome! I'm glad you sold your work! I can't wait to see your paintings this winter!
@@SteveHoltArts yeah the first things to sell was the squirrel and rabbit paintings I was surprised and encouraged
She's beautiful! I hope she sells!
Looks great!
Im sorry that broke on you. Hopefully it wont happen again.
@@SteveHoltArts yeah rock carving is on hold till I can get another flex shaft turning this rock in to the trails of tears art show tomorrow hopefully it will sell or win an award I have no other money coming in at the moment
What kind of rock is that? I like the colors in it. I have spent many hours staring at rocks to see what is in them as well.
@@SteveHoltArts it's a very hard sandstone
Looks awesome!
@@SteveHoltArts thanks
Oh goodness. So strange how I feel so proud of you. Scrolling through all the amazing art and then coming upon yours. Smiling ear to ear. Your piece, I think even if I did not watch you make it, it would’ve been my choice. Someone will purchase this piece. It is truly an amazing carving. A work of art you can hold. It has weight. It’s emotional. Beautiful work.
Thank you Susie there are some amazing art work this I did not win any awards this time but that will not stop me from trying again next year or the next up coming art show I still don't know if I'm accepted yet if I am I'll let everyone know it's still 19 days away
Fingers crossed 🤞 for a sale
Fabulous 👍
@@SuffolkSusie thank you
@@SuffolkSusie thank you
What kind of stone is that, please?
It is a very hard sandstone I find here in northeast Oklahoma here is what it looked like in it's raw form and I plan on making a video later today and show her completely finished ua-cam.com/video/ykRUI5BGqnc/v-deo.htmlsi=bUKDaqS4lSfXJUOH
👍
🤞
She’s coming along beautifully
@@SuffolkSusie thank you
I am really enjoying this! The suspence!!! Truly amazing process and VISION coming together.
Thank you, Susie and the 6 others that have been following sense I started this one. I was very surprised when I seen your comment that 75 others had viewed today's video hopefully I can get her arm and maybe part of the face and hair tomorrow. We'll see how close I can get her finished. She will need a name I'm drawing a blank at the moment maybe you and other viewers can help.
Looking forward to seeing your new art piece 😃
I got a little more of it cut down after I uploaded this video you can see tomorrow afternoon
congrats on your piece being accepted!
Thank you.
I use that same rotary tool with a Dremel flexshaft. It fits perfectly and is way better than the one that comes with.
@@CarverSean thank you I hadn't tried to swap them out yet but I will
Looks awesome! I hope your luck turns around!
@@SteveHoltArts it will just don't know when but it will I'm not worried
Looks really good! The hands look great! I have a hard time knowing when to stop on my projects because I look at them too much. My family tells me it looks good and i keep looking for things to work on more. I really like your work! Sorry i have not been on here for a while.
@@SteveHoltArts no worry's and I'm also have a problem of knowing when to stop but I'm getting better
Sorry i didn't see this til now. I had surgery. I like the hands but i agree that a little smaller would be a good idea. They look good already though.
@@SteveHoltArts glad the surgery went well I did cut the hands down but then my Dremel quit on me but as you've seen I did finish it and Monday I'll submit it to the homecoming art show in September
oh the hands look GREAT. look at those fingers!!!
@@SuffolkSusie thank you
excellent job. Loved seeing the day to day process. Have you priced going rates of similar art? Sorry, I'm clueless
The only thing similar I can find is soapstone and alabaster sculptures and I can't afford to buy raw stone and have it shipped to me yet . There are people in India doing similar stone and they get anywhere from $300 to $1000 for a peace
I am not good at pricing because I have not sold any of my work in 18 years. Its an awesome piece! I hope it sells!
@@SteveHoltArts yeah last year just the first time selling anything sense the mid 90's and back then it was at farmers markets and fair's these art shows are a new trick this old dog needs to learn
You have such a great attitude 👍👍👍👍
Life is school and everything is a lesson. Live and learn is all we can do.😊
I believe you will follow your instincts. I love that you are showcasing your work at the cherokee event Such an important part of your culture and our collective history.
Your carving is looking great!
It was another slow day too many clouds couldn't run the electric as much as I wanted. I'm about to upload what I got done today let me know what you think about the hands if you would please.
My dremmel died a few years ago and they sent me a replacement for free when i sent it in for warranty. I hope you can get it replaced soon.
Yeah this one is about 10 year old I have some brushes around here somewhere if I can find them and see if that works if not I still have my harbor freight rotary tool until I can get another one
Oooo check that out 🤩 coming along very nice 👍
Thanks 👍
So glad the rock turned out to be a good one - crack wasn’t a problem?
Nice! I can't wait to see it finished!
👍👩🌾
I've been busy and haven't been watching UA-cam much I hope your garden does well this year I know it will I'll probably binge watch your videos when it turns cold sorry there's just not enough time these days
Oh I think I see the face 😀
Hi Donald 👋 I’ll be watching 👍👍👍
Hi , I don't know if my mind is a safe place to be, but I thought I'd let people into my thought process. I'm not a very social person very quiet in fact I hope I can explain my thoughts as I go . Hope I don't mess up but if I do you'll see how I fix it
Im sorry you lost your footage. That is a great carving!
Thank you I'll probably do day to day progress videos on the next one it'll force me to do at least a little carving each day to get back into the mood we'll see
Looks good 👍
Thanks 👍
Have you been doing any new peaces
That owl looks great!
Those are awesome! I'll bet you will be able to sell them easy!
Hopefully I can get a base of 70 different ones if they all sale it'll be $700 and have already sold a couple at $10 a peace I've started a pattern book I will replace tic mark them as they sale to keep track of what sales and what I'll rethink and replace . I need to find a place to sale though I live on my brother-in-law's property and he's not to keen on the traffic and I don't have the money to pay for a spot at a local farmers market but I'll figure it out
These are really well done. $5-8 each is underselling yourself. I don't know what your local art community is like, but I think $10-20 is a reasonable price for the skill alone. Best of luck and stay safe during storm season
Thank you. The town I live in is small and I thought I'd try a yard sale $5 would be my bare minimum and if people seem to like them I'll raise my price but I can make 3-4 of them in an hour watching TV in the evenings if I plan ahead so with the initial investment of about $20 for wire and spray paint I'll gain more than I lose and my carvings take days to complete and will be priced in the $100's that my wire art and metal embossing will be my main sales when I reenter the local art market but it's been years the art world has changed but I'm going to give it a shot wish me luck I'll need it and thanks for watching and commenting
What a great job my friend!
Thank you I've been having Internet trouble but now I think I have it fixed so be looking for a new video soon. As long as I don't get blown away with this Oklahoma spring weather
And I'm going to copy your irrigation system because dry carving is very uncomfortable, even if you soak the stone from time to time.
It will cut the dust down drastically and if you are outside which I recommend because of the mud splatter apply bug repellent and add dish soap to the water to combat mosquitoes
Greetings from Spain, thank you very much for sharing this exciting activity. I have little time carving stone with simple designs. And for a beginner I'm not bad at it, but I hope to learn from artists like you and improve. thank you so much brother.
You are very welcome
I have the Dremel 3000 machine, it is the least powerful and tomorrow I will send it for repair, I only used it for a few days and for a short time and it broke. But Dremel repaired it for me and in 48 hours. I have it again.
It should have enough power just don't force it let the machine do the work. I suggest getting a flex shaft attachment if you use water as I do and remove the carving bits when not in use.
@@makingd.o.123 thanks for answering friend. I have the flexible shaft which is included with the machine. Yesterday I was cutting sheets of white stone (marmolina). It's the only time I've forced it, so to speak. I only managed to cut 4 and the machine failed. But tomorrow they will repair it. And thanks for your advice to remove the tips when not in use.
How are you doing? Hopefully everything is going well for you.
Doing fine just in a slump with all these storms and no sun. Hopefully I can get a video out this week or next
Great job.
Thank you
Many talents 😃👍
Get your own stone?
I use stone I can find for free locally
Those one line drawing wall hangings are awesome!
Thank you
Looks great!
