Disappointing video quality considering it was recorded during the digital era. If you ever decide to produce high quality videos, there are plenty of Olympic DVDs available. If you're going to infringe copyright, you might as well do it in a high quality way.

Savinova is the best! Can anyone take dope this professionally?
Viewers are gonna hate every brand that comes up during those commercial breaks
Christina Cahill should be the real gold medal winner here
Yes since we all should just assume all British runners are clean- Lindford Christie, Dwain Chambers, Mitchell-Blake, CJ Ujah, and many others, LOL! Also while I can see defaulting to the Soviets doping, you have no basis for knowing Ivan is on drugs other than how strong she was. Heck many less Romanians failed drug tests than British runners.
@@frankiedelgadoes many East Germans failed less drugs tests than British runners as well. Your point is? Ps, I’m from Sydney.
@@darrenshaw767 Nobody failed drug tests in the 80s, and East Germany did not exist in the 90s and beyond (and also Germany all but wiped out their doping program with the unification) so your point is moot.
susy do me a Favor
Why they say Keen Yah back then?
American commentators are a joke.
The “Keenyans,” eh? Mmm. Now we know how they pronounce it.
For the people always moaning like little bitches about the slow time, a lesson -> it's not a time trial, it's a championship race. There is no pacing, each runner needs to know every other runner's style and form, and tactics count. Some finals are fast, some aren't, but the winner is always a champion. A club runner might be able to run a 3:50, but only a handful of guys in the world could split it like that
thats true but it is still a boring race
@@goated_messi_ronaldo sure, I'd prefer to see a fast, exhilarating race rather than a tactic-fest, but I'd still take a slow championship race with the old British commentator bitching about slow splits over some otherwise anonymous meet in Eugene or Oslo with one guy being paced to a WR in an otherwise average field. And winning a slow final doesn't make the winner any less of a champion - Cacho won gold in 92 with a 3:42 or something, but what an epic achievement in his home stadium - Morceli,.Suleiman, Spivey, the Kenyans couldn't get near him (and anyway his best was high 20s, hardly a club runner). Champions like that run as fast as they need to
I mean, Cacho won gold at Barcelona in 3:40.12 but his PB in a random meet in Zurich in '97 was 3:28.95, I know which race I remember
@@rondog540 yeah i do agree. the faster runners should have set a fast pace instead of letting it come down to the last 400m
Incredibly poor coverage. Two ad breaks during a 5000m, seriously? You don't get that on the BBC.
Greed for money has no bounds, that's why
Viewers are gonna hate every brand that comes up during those ad breaks lol
LAGAT, GREAT WINNER
3:50? Wtf is this lol. This is high school level pace.
no high schooler is running 3:50 with those splits
In this time no black women
I was gutted when foster fell
Castro gives school talks today, warning kids not to even think about catching the Africans, or you will get your medal taken by the sneaky Germans.
Wow that dude is quick!
He may have lost, but he lost no face in defeat. Ngeny was a great runner too... lest we forget.
Shame that Szabo's career will be forever tarnished by the performance-enhancing product Actovegin which was found in the boot of her car. After it was found her career nose-dived and she retired citing 'exhaustion'.
Doesn't appear to have affected her overall career achievement and legacy since none of her medals are stripped away compared to Marion Jones and several certain Russians.
@@SoBor911 True. She never tested positive, but the circumstantial evidence is quite damning.
@@SoBor911 The East Germans weren't stripped either though. Freaking Flo Jo was never stripped. Still doesn't change nearly every track fan now knows for sure she was a huge doper, which cheapens her career. It also makes her a giant humiliating hypocrite, when she was one of the biggest whiners about Yegerova, and some of her other competitors. Pot.Kettle.Black.
Kevin Sullivan Canadian hero!
The family celebration at the end, especially the kid in the white tshirt, is epic.
Worst Olympics I have ever seen. Stadium was always empty
hicham comes back in 2004 athens
Makhloufi 2nd Algeria 🇩🇿
Ngugi's running tactic was very unique!
goose bump moment
Fit lass.
i didn't know makhloufi was this solid. i mean even in the 2012 olympics he got a gold medal in 1500

Without the car crash,Noah would have been the 🐐
2016: Why? WHY? 2024: Oh, that's why.
Yep. Time trials don't usually work here.
El bakalli more fast girma
Is it a 400meter game?
Watching this now makes the race by Hocker, Kerr, et al that much more satisfying. Ngeny and Lagat were close to El G but he was better, and yet he let it come down to a tactical race where any of them could win. Then he slowly just claps after crossing the line in second.
And this race is an excellent example of why you don’t want a slow/ tactical race. Because someone like Centrowitz will win 😅
Compare that to Paris 2024, that will never happen again. Speaking of the early slow pace that even a high schooler would’ve kept up, and I’m talking about very average high schoolers, not the state champions
yeah my grade 9 friend ran 2:14 for the 800 and he didnt even get past the regional area.
Amazingly slow race. I don't blame Centrowitz for the early jog if others weren't pushing the pace, but for the viewer, a 3:50 1500 is not the most exciting one.
Wow this race was so slow, 3:50? In today's final everyone in the top 3 ran a 3:27, what a difference
I just came here after watching Cole Hocker today take gold. I thought there was a mistake with the 3:50 time. Definitely slow! Watching this race, I see that they took the first 2 and half minutes slowly and then basically right before the last lap they all gunned it. Seems like a weird way to run a race and completely different from how today's panned out.
I just can’t believe the entire field went with that pace. A very average high schooler could’ve kept up for 800m. The 2024 race today had like a 1:51 for the first 800.
Because today Jakob acted as a free pacer
@@JRcaliforniabecause anybody wanted to be at the front cutting the wind and setting the pace, but of course they could run faster
The first lap was run at 58:44 half marathon pace. The world record is 57:31. This was an absurdly slow race.
Yifter the Shifter, what a legend
Thanks for the memory!😊
