Galbertstown (officially made up of two constituent townlands of Galbertstown Upper and Galbertstown Lower) is an area located in the civil parish of Fertiana approximately 6km south east of Thurles, 13km north of Cashel and 5km west of Horse & Jockey in central County Tipperary. The Irish name for Galbertstown is Baile Ghealbhaird.
Galbertstown GAA club was founded in 1954 when its hurlers, then part of the Catholic parish of Moycarkey-Borris, deemed it necessery to have their own club due to the long distance away of the Moycarkey-Borris pitch in Littleton almost 9.5km away.
The club wore all white and became known as the lilywhites and competed in the mid-Tipperary championship at Junior level between 1954 and 1961. The club held strong ties to the red and gold colours of its parent parish of Moycarkey-Borris at the time. In the early 1970s, the area of Galbertstown that was part of the Moycarkey parish were transferred to the Parish of Holycross-Ballycahill.
A monument was unveiled in September 1998 to the memories of the players by family, friends and local enthusiasts of the former club. This monument can be seen on Google Street view:
