Pros and Cons of Light Movers in an Indoor Grow
We share some of our experiences with using light movers. Our farm is an indoor aquaponic tower farm. We raise our plants naturally with nutrients provided by our walleye. Light movers help our grow environment maintain a minimal carbon footprint and healthy canopy for our plants.
If you want to try light movers in your own grow; head to www.lightrail3.com and use the code “agsale” for 5% off and free shipping.

Are there benefits or drawbacks of using a cradle barn?

So after the waste water is filtered and delivered to the towers, is that water then returned to the fish tanks automatically?

Our system is decoupled, so once the water enters the plant loop, it will not return to the fish

@@aquagardenllc is there a reason for the decoupling? Would the return water be harmful to the fish?

Do you know if you can grow hot peppers vertically, and if so, do you happen to know the ideal indoor lighting conditions and if the lights you use would be sufficient?

What products were used, where u source your growing medium About us: Extra unrelated info We are hoping to use a growing medium we can either reuse, create, or locally source that isnt dependent on on demand delivery system in case we run into a c19 situation again

Can’t wait to see more videos - especially how you circulate the water from the fish pond to plants.

Very cool way to help create urban farming. I’m curious what kind of lights are you using?

Thanks for sharing and I wish you all good luck in this new venture. Surprised you did not additionally opt for catfish, as they are also hardy air breathers, and are a secondary source for producing lots more fish waste water for fertigation purposes.

If that amount of plants were on a typical flat farm, how much space would it take to produce the same amount of harvest you get? How big is your space by comparison? Another thing I always wondered is if aeroponic or hydroponic growers harvest their entire system at one time or do you stagger it so that you always have plants in various stages of growth? What was the cost to put together your system and does it make a good profit? How do you find buyers for your produce? I know that was a lot of questions but they are all things that I would bet others would like to know.

Great questions, we appreciate your comment. 1. Each tower only requires approximately one square meter to hold 52 plants. Whereas you may be able to fit 12 plants (lettuce/herbs) in the same space while growing in soil. 2. We rotate our crops. On average we have 4 generations of plants in the towers at one time. As we grow most varieties for 4 weeks before harvest. 3. Being in our first year, we are not yet profitable. But have plenty of growing capacity to get there. We are just needing to land a few more accounts. 4. We sell to local restaurants, groceries, and have our facility open to the public. We also provide products to a couple programs in the state that get fresh produce to less fortunate people and are working to get our online sales up and running. Feel free to reach out if you want further detail on any of the questions.

Sad to hear that you use Peat Moss. Peat Moss is not sustainable.
