What's interesting is that one of Jack London's daughters claimed he was only a "social drinker", and that this label of an alcoholic brought her a lot of pain
Intense! Great video. Thanks.
Great job, Lou! A+
Thank you for the beautiful pictures, the music, a great film about my hero Jack London, forever and ever👍
Just happened to visit this place for the first today, by being in the area. Loved it.
I know the truth.....Jack was hated by his neighbors....not just for his socialist beliefs, but he decided to divert a creek and make it into a small lake depriving neighbors downstream of a water source...it was a act of arson and revenge.....the law at the time stated one could dam a creek, but not divert its flow...
marvelous !
I lived in the nearby town of sonoma California in the early 80s and visited this park before my parents past away. my mom in particular had me promise to throw her ashes mixed with my father's (they had informed me that even after death they'll still be forever together and by doing that they're ashes were mixed as there request) out In the air by the two large concrete structures which were the first of its kind in California called silohs, they loved it here and came super often. ( excuse me if that was spelled incorrectly by the way, silohs, or silos, either way they're amazing to look at. and how dwarfed you feel when one stands next to them, anyways ) because my father asked my mom out on a date when the park was fairly new I believe in the mid or late 1960s. though some might find it strange that they wanted they're ashes mixed, if you had met them then it would make sense. crazy in love. anyways, of course I threw they're ashes out in the air in a specific spot my mom had me shown when she was still able to walk. I was so sad when I let both of them go. they're ashes just flying away into jack london parks soils. but because of this, this park holds a spot for me in my heart. it really does. me and my wife just purchased a house in sonoma and she's always wanted to come here as I always talked about it, becoming one of the many reasons why we chose to settle in sonoma. I can't wait once things get transferred from here in the noisy city of San Jose, back to my childhood small town of sonona, with a beautiful park that makes me feel connected to my parents. thank you jack london. and thank you to those who work here. I'll be coming here often.

So thankful to have the Jack London Piano Club!
Do y’all have a copy of the Berkeley scan of the only audio recording of Jack London? I’ve spent two hours searching the entire web, and cannot find anything more than the five seconds in an NPR story.
Unfortunately, we do not have the audio you are referencing. We were not a part of that project and don't know who to even refer you to. The only place that comes to mind is California State Parks. www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=23110. Sorry we can't be of more help.
So glad this partnership formed !! Awesome!
What a great video. I just visited the park with my husband and 3 children. We didn't make it down to the lake as it was near 100 degrees out and my 2 year old wasn't having any of it. Do you know when the lake no longer held water? Also as this video was from 2018, are there still any plans to restore the dam and fill it with water again?
So glad you enjoyed the video and the Park! The Lake has been somewhat seasonal until the last few years and the drought has really affected it. As for the dam, repairing and/or restoring is a very large and expensive undertaking, not to mention environmentally sensitive. Plans are underway to possibly rename the area Historic Dam and Bathhouse, instead of London's Lake, which is often seen as misleading
Well done!!!
Thanks Ed!
A wonderful account of Jack London's life and his legacy and joyful spirit. I love being a member and hike his trails. I feel Jack and Charmian's love of each other on the grounds. Thank you so much!💗
Thank you!! So glad you enjoy spending time at the Park :)
Большое спасибо за этот канал от лица русского поклонника творчества Джека Лондона!
You are welcome! Glad you like it!
What are you talking about? Read the history
You wrote this in your own and poem writings to tell the story? Insightful but thought you were going to read from historical writing collections.
Great!
This was a gorgeous house... thank you for the video!
Thank you for the video! I would love to know what the house looked like before the fire... did Jack and Charmian take some photos while the house was being built?
Glad you liked it! If you watch our 2 Minute Tours: Jack London's Wolf House video, there are some pictures as well as renderings of the nearly completed house. It was spectacular. ua-cam.com/video/edeadrrjqOQ/v-deo.html

We don't live far from here, sadly this Nov 2020, along with covid going on, my hubby is on his about 4th yr of brain cancer. But Iam glad to watch this vid, prior years we hiked alot and Jack London park was a fave place we hiked. I haven't been there for a few years and hope the fires we have had (Tubbs/Atlas/Nunns 10/2017 & recent Glass/Shady Sept 28th 2020) didn't harm the area . Funny how its easy to take a day hike for granted, and then have so much happen, one can't just jump into car and enjoy a day hike like just a few years ago ~ Enjoyed watching this vid : )
We are so glad that you enjoyed this video and that it brought back some wonderful memories!
I love your presentation of Fern Lake! Am looking forward to visiting the lake on our next day at the Park. Thank you!
So happy that you liked this, hope you can visit soon!
