i like the alien
the cicadas are a nice addition
Very cool stuff, looking forward to more in the future
pesky gravity and things needing to be level!
Yeah, I did level it off but not enough. Next time i will put a top on the mold and that will take care of that problem. Having the open cast i can see whats going on so im pretty sure it will flow good with a top on next time
Did you that out of and compressor like a fridge or A/C
Hey mate. I just stripped one of these my neighbour put on the verge. Well worth scrapping these. Mine also had twin coils of copper like your's but it was incased in a black resin block which called for the hammer. It took some beating and did the trick i was almost going to chuck it in the copper motor bin
Yeah mate they are well worth it.
Big like number 11 and subscribed! Thanks for sharing!
I enjoyed that mate well done
Ea-Nasir approves of this video.
always fun to find another melting channel
I This came up in recommended video's so I watched it. I don't watch many casting video's but have seen a few, at least your not melting down stuff just to say 'look at me I scrap good equipment for no good reason' like some out there with a useless shelf full of ingots. I would think maybe the copper cooled too fast so coin should have been poured first as that was thinnest section?
Yes You could be right. I will try that next time. I have to make a steel casting box first as that plastic one didn't hold up that well. I do have casting rings but they are not really made for coins just rings. That's why i thought to 3D print a text box to see how that worked. All the stuff i melt down here goes online for sale. My Scrap meets Furnace video was made to order...not sure what he wanted 30 odd alloy bars for but that's what he wanted.
Out of curiosity; why did you decide to film this?
For the same reason you decided to watch it. Why not, its something interesting :)
A lot of copper out there.
Sure is mate
'PromoSM' 💐
Its amazing what you can find in the scrapper!
Sure is!. Ive got around 30KG a big box which im just working out what to make out of it...
That's a whole lot of melting fun! We are working on something to hold a 20 kg crucible :).
I normally just use bricks. Make a base and then build a circle and no top. You can stack them and not have to worry about mortar. just leave a brick out for the burner. Works really well.
Building a massive furnace from scratch. It's turning out pretty awesome.@@Coppercasting
Yes a lot of transformers in things are now CCA wire, and it is not hard to see by comparing mass, the CCA is a lot lighter for the volume. As copper is 10 times the cost, the CCA wire will be used, and the wire gauge that you find CCA in is thinner every year.
oh bummer. It looked like a APC UPS, and I thought those were good brands and I also thought when they used two windings, that at least one would be copper if one was aluminum.
Yeah, I would have thought so to. There were sitting in storage for a number of years. I was pretty disappointed with the results.
@@Coppercasting They would have to be made before 2000 to be sure there is copper in them. Last few microwaves I scraped before even removing from the chassis, and the CCA showing just meant it stayed in the case as sub grade. Chuck the CCA wire in with the extruded aluminium.
