A pair of Hershey's Steeplecabs haul a rake of Texaco type 7 tank cars through Alonzo Mill. The original intention was to model a pair of GE Steeplecabs and a set of Texaco type 7 tank cars as seen in photos on the Hershey in the 1950s. The Steeplecabs are my own 3d drawing and print, the tank cars are converted from P2k type 21 8000 gallon cars with the addition of the high walkways from brass...

Testing Hershey's "train line" on a three coach Interurban combination, prototypically according to Railroad magazine in 1946 one pole of the two would be raised to contact the strop on the adjoining car, and the front and rear pantographs raised. in model form only the centre car 153 is powered and it is equipped with bowser poles to contact the strips on baggage 400 and car 107.

I either use tacky wax, or insert a steel pin into their legs and stand them over a magnet hidden in the scenery.
Fine if your running fake overhead.
It's wired to one of the rails, just in case the purists who like live overhead with shiny wires that curve around corners get upset.

Yes, I've wanted to model it for some time. No timescale to build a layout yet, I just wanted to build some stock then see how it goes.
Wow, this is exceedingly clever!!! Sometime down the line, when I have a permanent layout, I want to have both a more realistic two rail trolley layout, and a 3-rail toy train layout.. I also have some 3 rail trolley equipment, and was wondering if I could ever mix the two, this seems like a very clever way to automatically engage a trolley pole onto the overhead!
