Recently after winning the U.S. open Bryson Dechambeau was asked if he felt freedom in that final round. Brysons reply was he never felt freedom. I thought that was quite interesting.
I'd certainly like to have a better idea of what he meant by this, and his interpretation of freedom. From my perspective (and interpretation of the word), I'd say it was impossible to hit any kind of decent shot without freedom. Just my thoughts...
Think of yourself steering a putt with tension. You either won't strike it, it'll come up very short, or it'll be a mile off line. It's easy to see this in a putt, but it's a different version of the same thing, in every shot we hit... Make sense? Rich
Playing with abandon is a great plan for most of us. Free up the swing. Free wheel. I find it very helpful. We are not robots
So right...👍
Previous video you had a weak grip now you have a strong grip?
At one time I had a very weak grip for chipping, and a fairly strong grip for the long game. But eventually I found a way where I was more efficient in the long game with a weak grip. You'll see that in an upcoming video called 'My crazy, authentic self.' For any person who's working more at the root cause of things, there has to be some trial and error - and there's always going to be opportunities to improve further. This idea that someone knows any kind of final answer in golf is really quite ridiculous. Or that we ever come to some kind of final conclusion. There never has been one since golf first began. Rich
I got you from day one Rich and my golf has improved because of it 🙏🏻
Good to hear Chief... There is a subtle difference in this video. It really did help me when I lost a bit of interest in the swingpath. Keep up the good work Chief! Rich
I’ve noticed this week in practice that if I stay mobile at address I hit the ball with much more freedom than if I’m static it was a noticeable improvement. Great work again Rich 🙏🏻
Cheers Chief! Sounds all good... 😀👍🙏
I was practicing down the range today and found myself moving before I hit the ball. It felt like a bit of a mini Happy Gilmore swing. And the detail would be - and I'm recreating it here in my living room - that after addressing the ball with the club head just behind it, as I started my backswing, my left foot moved forwards simultaneously; not a planned position, it just happened. And it loosened up my swing and I hit the ball better than I have ever before. It was becoming like the athletic 'set up' you would adopt if the ball was moving. My stance for the swing, seemed to be a moving variation of my static stance, which is with my left foot slightly forwards of my right one. All very interesting; I'll be playing about with this one!

Thank you so much Kevin... 🙏
My practice was really starting to pay off about 18 months ago, I had built confidence in my swing and was beginning to understand how to get the ball to do what I wanted it to do. Then I listened to someone online (a well known pga champion) who advised me to buy a grip trainer or I would never get beyond an average player, my grip was strong at the time. I kept practicing until I was comfortable with the new grip but my swing has suffered badly. You have given me confidence to go back to my natural grip and hopefully in the not too distant future better results Thanks Rich 🙏🏻
Very welcome sir...🙏
Great video Rich @speeddialgolf it’s all making sense, keep living the dream 🕺
Rich… the intention part is unreal. How can a misaligned club head go the right direction? I used this with my 26 year old son last night. He could hit the ball in any direction I asked him to without changing his stance and swing. His intention just changed. He was a baseball pitcher so can control a thrown ball. Crazy to see him do the same with the golf ball.
Awesome stuff. Anything like this is a great start. The machine like start (and thinking) we've all been given in golf has been so damaging and limiting for all golfers.
Hi Rich, this is Catherine 😃 thank you for the many good tips and you know what! I got hole-in-one at Walton Heath first hole 😁

I see your videos with headlines like this one. Then I look at the length 15:49 and I can’t be bothered. Surely it can’t take that long to give us the secret!
Well you'll never know then will you Lesley...
I couldn't disagree with any of that Richard - one of your best videos. I chuckled when you mentioned about feeling younger again, such a good feeling to embrace. A few weeks ago a lady member at our club was lamenting on having such a hard time ball striking - the typical freeze over the golf ball. I said to her "what would you do if you were 6 years old"? 'What do you mean" she said. Well, if you were indeed 6 years old and I gave you a few balls and a club you would just take a swipe at it, without thinking about it, without fearing the outcome of the shot or worrying about where it goes or who was watching or whatever. Hopefully she took that thought to the course the following week!
Wow! How awesome was that!! 👏👏 And thank you for taking the time to watch...
Thanks!
Thank you Doug. Totally unnecessary, but thank you..🙏

Thank you for your generosity of thought. Very refreshing and liberating. I have often thought that the golf swing should FEEL good - the movement should bring pleasure. We have certainly drifted far from this in golf.
Yes, sadly I think we do the same thing in many other things too, and commercialism and money hide the truth and decent values. Thanks for taking the time to comment Steven. Rich

Nice morning there Richard
It certainly was... About 5.30am
I agree. Most golf instruction is a scam. We are all different, yet we are told about one way to do it. They measure angles but have no real idea what is best for a particular golfer. We are not Gumby, able to move each part with distinct motion, at 90+ mph. Some instructors do teach well.
Thanks for your comment sir. As you say, there are good and bad instructors. Some very good, and some very bad. Obviously I can't be sure, but my experience tells me that despite there being some very good ones, there's another level that we could aspire to. The system and our present understanding won't really allow it to happen yet, but maybe in time it could. I'm attempting it here on this channel, and on the private Facebook group. And while it may not be ideal, it's a start at least. And for anyone that looks into it enough, asks the right questions, and fully embraces things, there's at least a chance of seeing what could potentially be done. Rich
Rich, yesterday, I hit a bucket so well, that going home, in my car, I got depressed thinking about all the wasted time during my last 25 years of playing AND practicing, and getting nowhere. When I got home, my wife asked if I didn't do well at the range..."why the long face?" she asked...took me a minute to snap out of it. So again, thank you for doing these videos!!!! My next step is achieving freedom at the golf course, when the nerves act up!!! But that is a clear sign of what the real problem is, isn't it? Cheer!
Awesome Roberto, and please keep up the communication... Good or bad... I'm sure we can always help... 🙏 Rich

Your exercise of putting the ball on a hight tee is trickery and i can’t believe that after fifty years i’ve never thought of it.On going out to the range i put a ball on a high tee and commenced to hit it with a 7 iron, after five balls i thought wow this is great so i took the tee away and hit the next ball off the grass putting in my mind that the ball was still on a tee,the trickery worked so i hit several more until the brain said hey wait a minute and i had several bad shots, back onto the high tee again and repeated the excercise over again,it works and then i progressed up to other clubs even driver, many thanks for the lesson best advice i’ve had in years.
