HEY YALL, I'm just a chicago city girl trying to live in a country (texas) world. I've always loved having plants in my home and thought it'll be cool to grow some of my own. I started gardening faithfully in 2020 when the pandemic hit. Having to experience a food shortage pushed me to grow my food. Something I wanted to do anyway but the universe simply showed me there's no time like right now. So until I purchase my dream home and have my dream garden I will be recording my mini homestead and sharing it with you all.
I also promote positivity, self-love, and self-care content.I'vee been through a lot and overcame it and would love to help others do the same. I want to create a safe, positive, strongminded place for us to grow together.
I hope my love for learning and growing to be a better person, inspires you too. Please share the information with your family and friends.

I like when these type of videos pop up. One because I do enjoy them, but also because that tells me they're trying to at least help a bit with channel growing. A garden always brings peace. I really enjoyed watching.

use a food grade diatomaceous earth. It's natural and will take care of all your insect pests, to include the ants.
Thank you so much...cus tell me why I got a whole bag. Well maybe 1/2 🤔but I got some. I'm definitely going to use it ...thank you hunni
I have so many squirrels, I wish I could have a garden 🥰
@RonaRona212 I have squirrels also but for some reason, they don't mess with a lot of things in my garden. I think because my house is surrounded by oak trees. They do run across my fence in jump in the bed. I've also seen them hang around any puddles of water. I'm grateful they don't eat anything in my garden though. Also, you can squirrel-proof your garden with chicken wire. Give gardening a try it's the most peaceful thing I've done. And you get to see the fruits of your labor.

First of all, I can see why your pumpkins are not doing good. You got them confined in those cement squares. I planted pumpkins for the first time in my backyard and the vines grew all the way to the front yard. You are not giving them room to grow you can’t plant everything in containers pumpkin is one mistake ‘and when are you gonna replant your sunflowers so that they can get bigger? I planted mine directly in the ground, but I did not dig them up and separate them so they could get big. I was supposed to do that this year but I didn’t. I’m disabled and can’t get around but as big as the sunflowers were in the little cups, maybe I can plant mine in a pot and they’ll do better. I didn’t think they would do it, but maybe they will if yours is blooming already getting ready to bloom in the little cups let me know how the pumpkins turn out, but put them in the ground
@DeborahK-d2j I've had pumpkins in bigger containers and they did pretty much the same thing. I never get pumpkins. But I find joy in planting them. I will try again next year and the year after that as well. I just love to plant food and flowers. Thanks for the advice about giving them more space.
@@mzteedoubleu yes I bought mammoth size sunflowers like my grandmother use to have.but the way I planted them clustered together they bloomed but produced little tiny flowers because I didn’t separate for space to grow disappointing but I’m gonna try again. But those pumpkins I planted the vines were over 50 ft long. I was shocked😳
@DeborahK-d2j thanks for the advice I'll definitely try that next gardening year
@mzteedoubleu when I was a kid, I planted pumpkins on the side of my house, and the vines grew the entire length of my house plusthe length my backyard. I planted them directly into the ground as well. I got pumpkins. I don't think you're gonna get pumpkins. Growing them in pots, i've never seen anyone get pumpkins from growing in pots. But then again, you might be able to find a video on it. You know how youtube is a magical place lol. Also, since I know you're looking at this comment, look up a video on something called fPj. Look up the video with the fat polynesian dude. He will teach you how to make the best fertilizer you can ever make for all of your plants, and it is all natural. Good luck 👍🏾😊 👊🏾 ✊🏾.
@@deepthoughtdeepbreath2383 thank you for the info and tips. I'll look into it if I grow pumpkins next year
Now you know the Ancestors need to slap me for being too lazy to be like you loll this is my DREAM to have a beautiful garden like this, I am just soooo lazy! Pray for me lol
@kyieberry start small, then grow to a bigger garden.... I started with house plants and worked my way to tomatoes and jalapenos... and then I slowly started adding to my garden.
Everything in your garden needs more space or completely thinned out and you get too much mulch in there and if you got a lot of rain in your area you should not be watering your plants as often most times plants just need to be left alone and let the soil do what it's going to do or your soil isn't nutritious enough you have to cut app branches and stuff and put them in a pile Uber the winter and let them break down with some worms and some natural breaking down in order for your garden to grow and flourish.🎉❤
Thank you for the advice. I'm trying a few other things as well. I'll get better with time
Make u a compose garbage can put end of vegetables in it n potting soil❤😊
@iceequeen1204 i do have a compost bin but if I'm being honest I don't use it properly. I barely water it or turn the barrel. I know i need to do better. But we're all learning

Diatomaceous eating for ants.
@angrycannibal6625 thank you I got a big bag too lol. I always forget about the thing I can use in my garden cus I have to get into the habit of protecting first and so waiting until I need to protect
Get you some borax and mix up 2 type of poison for the ants. 1 sugar and borax and the other scrambled egg and borax. Put each in a separate cup with a lid. Put holes in the cups. Dont mix the sugar water borax too strong so you dont kill the ants too fast. You want them to feed the larvae amd feed the queen . So the get (Mule non scented type)
@williamsmith8760 oh thank you so much. My sister told me that boiled eggs and borax work.... sad to say I didn't believe her and didn't want to waste food. Thank you so much cus now I need to try that and thank my sis lol

When I was a child, I use to catch grasshoppers and a few other bugs with my brother and his friends. Now I hate bugs, especially big bugs. I remember when we use to catch grasshoppers, they used to spit on our fingers. It was a brown fluid. Some people use to say they were spitting tobacco. I looked it up and the information said it was a defense mechanism against other bugs. It is digested plants and digestive enzymes. 🥴🤢
@Dee-cg4hy I always wondered if they really spit. Thank you so much for sharing. The only bug i caught as a child was lightening bugs lol

The cucumbers look weird. What kind are they?
@shaunbryant5788 they are pickling cucumbers... that i sadly to say neglect to water as often as I should be
My Cucumbers grow like that too! Had only 1 to grow like a regular Cucumber. Not sure what stunts their growth. Love your garden 😊
@sugargirlbaptiste686 i was told lack of water stunts their growth or give them that curved neck and these are pickling cucumbers but yea I take the good with the bad and keep rolling.
