Obscure film/ TV reviews and video essays (nearly) every Friday.
Do you like discovering the next cult classics? Do you like over-analysing concept albums? Do you like people who talk about films they think are OK but obnoxiously waste their time saying "but it wouldn't be better if"?
I post obscure film reviews, retro TV reviews and video essays. If you like classic rock, have a soft spot for terrible innuendo, or like trippy films that threw money at the screen, I've probably found a film for you!
My official titles include "Mom of the Group Chat", "British Ambassador to LarsLand" and "High Priestess of the League of Gentlemen Cult" [second in command to our leader Anya]. I'm either the young whippersnapper or geriatric of a fandom depending on who I'm talking to!

Enchanted Essays posts new videos about books, films and more every Friday. I alternate between reviews and video essays weekly. I try to introduce people to obscure movies and TV shows, and look at familiar films from a perspective you may not have seen before. I struggle to stick to a niche, but I'm planning multiple videos analysing James Bond films, Disney films, concept albums and adaptations.

Why Across the Universe Succeeded Where the Sgt Pepper Movie Failed: a Video Essay
Thanks for sharing. Love "The Rutles: All You Need Is Cash." Hearing the song/style parodies again made me smile. Shawn R., Mo-Mutt Music/Sacred & Secular (and Beatles and Python fan)
Give my Regards to this awful movie. Paul can't act.
Lennon’s murder really effected Paul on a deep level when you look at his few albums and projects after. his stints with Stevie Wonder and more so Micheal Jackson and then this movie. He virtually buried himself in these projects. In each of these projects, albums, movies in the 80s theres a lot of emotional baggage he’s subliminally expressing. Even this movie when he’s trying to search for the tapes and his friend you see that fantasy sequence where you see his friends go over the Waterfall and he’s running to save them but to no avail and then his friend gets murdered on the streets (someone stabs him) and he watches helplessly…😞😢 You can just tell he’s mourning for John. 💔
I never clicked on this on the curse of the were rabbit dvd when i was a kid for some reason. Young me would not have slept for days.
I can see why others enjoy this show, as the humour is so zany and out there. My mum loved it when she was younger!
Yeah it's easy to see the appeal. Thanks for watching!
"Tangenital rants"!!!??!?!? 4:33 Did you mean "tangential"? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The steve pissing episode is one of the most perfect episodes of comedy ever
Yeah it's definitely underrated. Thanks for watching!
Elizabeth Hurley. Need i say more? 😅
Yeah I'm sure she's why a lot of guys remembered the remake! Thanks for watching!
Really enjoy hearing Peter's stories, it's great that he's suddenly doing lots of interviews after years of keeping under the radar. Good work! You might like our Vic & Bob podcast where we talk to people who've worked with them: ua-cam.com/play/PL11Ba_QI4Z2_rczxZtu83mE7L4ZW6npL_.html
Yeah it's wonderful! Hopefully his tours and things will lead to another Comic Strip getting commissioned! Oh cool!
"i've been made an mp" me when i manage to edit a video on time 😭
"I've been made prime minister" me when I've finished a massive project but I'm burnt out and don't know what to do next
a sequel should be made with this cast
Interesting idea, but it would be pretty difficult to pull off. I think I'd rather see a stage adaptation personally. Thanks for watching!
I think this is a wonderful film with a fantastic actor jim sturgess
Oh yes he's brilliant in this! Thanks for watching!
Poor Timothy Dalton....
Indeed! He did a great job though. Thanks for watching!
@@EnchantedEssays ya, he's was 31 when he was on Sextette filmed in 1977, before he's role James Bond in 1986 after his birthday turn 40 in march, four few months later Pierce his replacement Timothy become James Bond his due of Remington Steele cancelled.
@@phuongnghiwiggle3121 Poor Pierce! At least he got the role in the end!
I know the Phoenix Arts Club to be a live venue, often with Cabaret. .... The Comic Strip - Young Ones actors.... That looks like it would be a fun night.
It certainly does! Make sure you get a ticket. I've heard that it's selling well!
@@EnchantedEssays We can now confirm Alexei Sayle as on stage guest with Peter Richardson and likely too Nigel Planer. (Sixth). Spread the word

Great episode. Can we please get Wild Monkees review,
Thanks for watching! I've been struggling with burnout, so it will be out when I've worked through this funk. Thank you for your continued support, Pete.
That giant green telephone was used in "Head" for a second.
Oh really? Well spotted! Thanks for watching!
I saw they used "The Girl I Knew Somewhere" during the sword fighting scene. Thought that song fit better.
Ah I'm guessing that's a recreation! They replaced songs during reruns in the late sixties/ early seventies to coincide with new releases and people have uploaded recreations to UA-cam. Thanks for watching!
This episode breaks the fourth wall! "Who writes that stuff"?
Indeed! Thanks for watching!
Very cool 😎
Thank you so much!
I gotta admit: I’ll take Sgt Pepper over ATU any day of the week I know Sgt Pepper is dumber than shit and the plot(if you can call it that) is really just an excuse to get these expensive renditions of Beatles songs to play out but they’re mostly damn good renditions, most of which surpass the originals This movie though: the story feels forced and at the same time seemingly one dimensional. They take such stereotypical moments from the seventies and use that as their excuse to have their players sing Beatles Songs. What’s more is these renditions are either way too similar to the originals and don’t really stand out, or else they dip in quality. The visuals I found to be atrocious. Don’t get me wrong: I enjoy a good amount of Taymors work, aesthetics included, I really found third movie to be unappealing to look at. It’s like they watched either yellow submarine or apocalypse now and tried to copy them but added slight differences in post(like the strawberries) Anyway, it’s arguably what you get if they made a Forrest Gump musical: it’s just surprisingly shallow, not very thorough and bland and forgettable as well as tedious
I wholeheartedly disagree, but I respect your opinion. Thanks for watching!
Tickets are only £10! Get yours here! phoenixartsclub.com/events/comic-strip-presents/ [sidenote: my trailer is on the venue's OFFICAL WEBSITE! Thanks Henry!]

In this episode edited was put in the last minute was "You just may be the one" because it ran short. The selection of this song made this episode much better!
Yeah absolutely. Thanks for watching!
Trump is a crook and liar
😂
"The Frodus" episode rules!!! Micky directed it. Hope you"ll get to that one.
I certainly will at some point! Thanks for watching!
@@EnchantedEssays Thanks ♥
The problem for me is I had to watch inside a mind's video on this show since i didnt know it existed before that video so the whole episode is ruined for me(even if i ended up watching it now, years after he made that vid) and its not like i could just erase the ep from my mind since its such a memorable occurance
its a me thing dont take it personally
Yeah I was lucky in that although the twist was spoiled for me, I knew nothing else about it going in. Thanks for watching!
I rather go to the spookslot then visting Symbolica it will be missed and remain skeptical of Danse Macabre. I would hate to lose a cozy attraction to a nauseating making ride -_- i will find out next year.
Yeah it's a shame. It appeared to be a very chill, atmospheric attraction like the sprookjesbos. The kind of thing you'd only really ever find in that park. I guess we'll have to wait and see about their new stuff. Thanks for watching!
This is my theory about the devil: The devil appears to men as a woman, while appearing to woman as a man (at least I see that in the remake) ❤ Edit: also, if the man or woman is gay, the devil would appear to the gender as the same gender as the wisher/Host. (Like if the man is gay, the devil will appear to him as a dude)
Cool theory! Thanks for watching!
This is my favorite episode, from the pies & seltzer to the tv parodies to that cute 4-line bit that Peter ends by saying "It's all downhill from here!". I love the WML? parody too, as I've seen lots of that game show's episodes over the years.
Yeah it's a good one. Thanks for watching!
This episode has my favorite romp of any episode to the tune of "I'll Be Back on My Feet". I thought the Monkees, Ned Glass, Joseph Perry, D'Urville Martin, and Jerry Hausner as the fight commentator were great. BTW, D'Urville Martin was the first actor to play Lionel Jefferson in the unaired pilots of ALL IN THE FAMILY.
Cool! Thanks for watching!
Kurt Russell's dad, Bing Russell, played the Monkees' manager in this episode.
Oh really! I didn't know that he was an actor. Thanks for watching!
Worse movie ever
This movie is bad but, I have to say, if this is the worst movie you've ever seen, you're incredibly lucky! Thanks for watching!
Crikey missed the fact you did this! it's Brilliant. Henry Scott-Irvine organiser of these event screenings. Four nights at three venues for and on behalf of Portobello Film Festival 2024 and Comic Strip Films, September 2nd till 7th September 2024
Thank you! Peter Richardson likes the trailer too and I'm making one for the screenings he's doing in November. Oh he was the guy who interviewed Peter Richardson on the Friday and Saturday, wasn't he? He seemed lovely. He recognised me from the Monday and Friday at the last one and gave me one of the posters from the window! It's up in my room now!
what an iconic film to have been involved with. Peter wears his talent lightly doesn't he.
Indeed! He's very humble. Thanks for watching!
Why does she speak like that? It's excruciating.
Best video you’ve made yet!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!
So many people are afraid to say when stuff (sometimes their own, sometimes not) is shit. Peter isn’t. Trevor Horn also isn’t.
Yeah absolutely. There's plenty of stuff that he's proud of but he's also very critical of his own work, which gives me a lot of respect for him. Thanks for watching!
