What about the 60th Anniversary and series 14 theme and its Piano variation from Devil’s Chord

When I listen to the original theme, like in the Trouten era, I just get the chills, it makes me so happy

@theboredwhovian you know that the 2007-2008 theme is different from the 2009 specials theme, right? Listen carefully at the theme played in the 2009 specials theme and you'll notice it's slightly diffrent

You are entitled to your opinion, but the Doctor Who Theme was created electronically and should stay that way. No place for drums and strings etc.

Murray Golds theme changed for Planet of the Dead, the 10th Doctor used the same arrangement as the 9th until that point so it's 2005 - 2009. It was a mixed bag for me, I won’t go into it fully but I agree with you on the idea of giving the toy maker just a bit more to do like power wise yk, I wish we had those sequences you talked about, maybe if it was an hour and a half it would’ve been better

YES! Putting respect on David Arnold's theme from the 8th Doctor Big Finish Stories. It's personally my #1 theme and I'm hoping one day we get a proper title sequence one day for it.

What’s your opinion of the new theme for RTD’s new era?

I’d love to see a second video on all the 60th episodes (and maybe more). One of your initial reaction, then a second of your settled thoughts after a week and maybe after a second rewatch? Couple comments on what you touched on in this video: That scene where they cut back and forth between the water room and the orange tray room - I honestly thought that was a back and forth shot of them in one room and then them in another like past and future and didn’t think anything of it, I just thought it was an interesting direction technique. It wasn’t until Donna repeated “my arms are too long” where I clocked… oh no 😂 and it was SOOOO CREEPY!!! Cos when DT says that, you just brush it under the rug and say “sure Doctor!” I found the monsters freaky as heck and if I was a kid I would’ve been sleepless 😂 I did find that when I went outside by myself after having watched the episode I was a little freaked out; not scared really but kind of anxious at the idea that there might be something in the dark with me - a feeling I haven’t really felt since Listen first aired. I loved the idea of them learning from the Doctor and Donna just thinking, very very similar to the Midnight monster learning from people speaking. Effects and budget: LOVED IT. The visuals of the doubles were so trippy and gave me a proper uncanny feeling, and the effort it takes to create a long hallway ship like that is huge. It did look a little off at some points, but that’s the charm of Doctor Who, it always has felt cheap and that’s part of the show. What impressed me the most about the budget was how well they did the exterior shots with the drone. They didn’t need to put in loads of money and time into that, but they did and it paid off! Overall, I loved this episode a lot. It gave me a huge breath of fresh air, since I wasn’t a massive fan of the Chibnall era, so I’d been waiting for something like this for a while. The most recent thing I can compare it to is “It Takes You Away,” which I really enjoyed but I wish there was more of. Wild Blue Yonder gave me absolute firm hope for the show again, and I’m so glad cos I haven’t felt this way since 2017. The budget was a phenomenal step up from what we’ve previously seen (I’m looking at you, Lazarus Experiment) and the thought that went into this episode just astounds me. The music was great, as usual from Mr Gold. The stakes were really high from the start (minus Isaac Newton lol - still funny though). As I said, I’m not the biggest fan of Chibnall era, particularly the Timeless Child story… but you know what, I don’t care. Tennant acted that scene with pure heart, and RTD wrote a brilliant moment for it. Suddenly the prospect of the Doctor essentially being an orphan or at the very least an outcast is super interesting. I think what I liked about that so much is that they didn’t go into the basis for the Time Lord genetic code, but instead made it more about the Doctor as a character - how he feels not just about being someone he didn’t think he was, but about not knowing where he’s from, having been lied to his whole life and having a completely different idea of what he can call home now. I would give this episode at least an 8/10, I could even stretch to a 9. Maybe that’s cos I haven’t seen anything like this for ages and I’m just so happy, or maybe it’s cos it’s a damn good episode with some really amazing writing and acting. Great review as always, I’m excited to see the next one!

The worst title sequence of nuwho? Worst than the 12th? Not too sure about that.

Things that were awesome in my opinion: The sonic design The TARDIS interior DT’s performance Beep the Meep design and dialogue (mostly) Donna’s performance The “Winter Soldier” Donna Comedy The Doctor looking at Donna for the first time in goodness knows how many years, DT’s acting is just phenomenal no matter what script he’s given. The story implying that everything’s fake (the sonic is OP, the Doctor has his old face back, the Doctor pulling a court wig out of his pocket - all made it seem like it’s a design by the Toy Maker, suggesting that Donna isn’t really fine. Things I didn’t really like that much at all: Sonic is OPPPPPP The fourth wall break at the beginning Donna is just fixed… you mean to tell me that since Journey’s End she could’ve just… “let it go?” What’s that about. Honestly I think it’s a completely lazy get out and to be honest I didn’t like the fact that they suggested the Doctor couldn’t think of it “cos he was a man…” just felt like a bit of an attack really. I agree, 6/10 and that’s being generous. For the opening episode of the RTD2 era, should’ve had a lot more. It felt like a story that was just too contained, didn’t actually FEEL like part of the Whoniverse somehow. It felt disconnected and rushed, and mostly I just felt let down and underwhelmed, especially since I’d hyped it up so much in my head. I went to rewatch Series 1 straight after and somehow it immediately felt like a breath of fresh air. I just didn’t like it as much as I thought I would, but it was still fun, and I laughed out loud at a lot of points! I am still excited to see what comes next, and having thought about this episode a little more, I shouldn’t judge it too harshly, it was a smaller scale romp, as it should’ve been. You can’t get Neutron Bomb level threat in the first episode. This is what the anniversary is supposed to be; fun and a homage to everything Doctor Who (like the sonic being OP, cheesy cliffhangers that get resolved too easily) - and that’s what it was - fun. But I stand by my point that as the opening episode it should’ve been better.

I don’t consider myself a Whovian by any reach. But I’m fan of musical evolution, and the series 4 edition of the DW theme is far and beyond the best iteration. And it peaked my curiosity of the DW loor just from listening to it.

I’m not a fan of this Tennant being his own doctor thing again. This is like the third Tennant doctor now. What exactly is gonna happen with Tennant going forward outside of a lotta fans going “oh so Tennant can return! When he’s coming back?! I want Tennant back for Nucti’s finale!” Donna just having her memories back and not dying I’m not a fan of either. Really makes her season 4 memories erased really over dramatic Sounds like he’s trying emulate Moffat’s more “no stakes and consequences” methods now

Okay…I get everyone has their own tastes…but I was going to give you a chance after putting both of Matt Smiths, my favourite Doctor, themes at the bottom, but for you to then place the 1996 movie theme at number 11 right after that…yeah, sorry but I don’t want to see the rest of the ranking 🙁🙁

Dominic Glynn's theme is by far the best and i think its a shame it was only used for season 23. Second favourite is the Peter Howell arrangement.

I happen to like it a lot, I understand why people don't (it does feel a little bit like RTD saying "look guys I'm back and Murray golds back and it's just like you remember from the good old days!!") But it also too me sounds like it's honoring the legacy, it's got a bunch of the individual motiefs of Nuwho mixed in, some throwbacks to classic but mainly it seems to be pulling from the Paul McGann movie (which I didn't like very much but the intro for that one was stellar imo)

Some people aren't loving it, but there's one thing to bear in mind: we haven't heard how it's gonna actually sound yet. We've heard it pre-mixing with a live orchestra.

Yeah bring back DT era music it's loud , dark & very mysterious just how l like it 😮😮😁😁 Sadly the new one is rubbish, but have to say a good try/ idea , l think RTD is trying to hard .
