I think I no clipped into the backrooms of Baghdad. No idea how to replicate, has happened at some other random building before though so if you want to clip out of the map, it shouldn't be too hard in this glitchy game (that I love).

In light of AC Mirage's upcoming release, I thought I'd put together a video of parkour mechanics in Valhalla. While most of what I show should be common knowledge, I've seen people on UA-cam and Reddit still unsure about certain mechanics such as ejects and catch ledge.     If only ejects were more reliable I mainly only got the game because I’m studying Arabic and it has a very professional Arabic dub Even without the dub I think the game itself is good enough to play a few weeks before going back to 1 and the Ezio series

    it’s quite impressive how much the city layout can do for such a simple movement system. the city layout is reminiscent of unity, but the way you move through the city does not unfortunately

      It's certainly not as consistent as it looks in this video (lot of trial and error), but yeah it's a bit of spamming, attempting to get the directional input right and finding spots that it's possible at (still haven't fully figured this out)

    My Xbox Controller Layout: Freerun Up - Press RT Sprint - Hold RT Tools Wheel - Hold RB Assassinate / Light attack - Press X Heavy attack - Hold X Dodge / Roll - Press A Eagle Vision - Press L3 Follow Road - Double Press L3 Everything else is set to default and I think this is perfect layout. For me is much better to dodge and roll with A button.

      In settings, you go to controls and there's a menu to customise controller settings. They had this in Valhalla too, but now they allow you to make it a hold, which is much better than a toggle.

    B/parkour down also triggers side ejects when you are holding on ledges

    hmm, idk. Turning off toggle for b is cool and all until you realize now u have to hold b while doing stealth. not ideal which sucks

      Yeah I did mention that it's a choice thing. It's not a big deal for me though because I mapped it to a back paddle. It is one of the controls though that I could go either way, different pro/cons

    What is the best way of parkour down without crouching at the end? it seems so inconsistent. Sometimes I stay standing, other times not. Also great video.

      That's why I switched it to hold for parkour down/crouch - you do have to time things like vaults properly otherwise you crouch first, but it means once you stop holding, you stop crouching which is useful for parkour down. When on a rooftop, unless you want to slide off an edge, don't start parkour down button until right when you're at an edge. Once you're dropping and there's no need to hold parkour down, stop pressing it and you will avoid the crouch.

      ⁠@@JGCoolAssassinhonestly i just press parkour down again immediately after doing a slide down and he’s already upright when hitting the ground. i think mirage has some kind of input queuing when it comes to certain actions. if you do a slide while running and tap parkour down at any point while still sliding, basim will stand up automatically after the slide ends

      X is combat, currently have press as light attrack, hold as heavy and also doubles as assassinate (can cause issues occasionally). Y is actually just eagle vision. I've been making use of my back paddles so don't have to claw lmao

    It seems to work the same as Unity, but is difficult to pull off due to world design (Unity I think was more intentionally designed for these kind of moves) and lack of manual jump (you can only jump from edges or tops of things). Please share if you have more insight or if I'm wrong about anything.

    Do you know how limited it is for PS5? I use KBM on PS5 and my keys do actually work, but not my mouse. Console recognizes the mouse too

      Not sure, if you're wondering about remapping, you'd have to find a way to do that on PS5/console that allows you to use controller buttons for keyboard bindings. If you can do that, I believe the console KBM has the same controls as PC, i.e. walk, button

      @@Mr.SirMan can confirm mirage support mouse and keyboard on PS5 (consoles in general). PC actually supports dualsense natively too which is a nice surprise.

    He "sticks" to certain points, for too long. It's not fluid compared to old AC games. He always jumps to spots you didn't mean to. Parkour is probably the worst part of the game IMO

    Great insight as always, this is very useful. Have you figured out a way to trigger the dive animation from unity? I’ve been trying to do it but I can’t get it basim to perform the leap, as he just jumps down to an object instead.

    Ejects work normally as well but you have to be above an object. They're omnidirectional not just left or right.

      Yeah I'm on PC, check out my other video for in depth but I remapped a back paddle to ctl on keyboard and use hybrid controls for the game. Find it so frustrating to try and walk with just the left stick.

      I don't have a PS5 but do you mean make a config for the dual sense 5 (or edge)? I can make one some time soon. If you mean playing on PS5, that would be limited to the in game controls which would be essentially the same as my initial Xbox settings, I don't think you'll be able to have the manual walk option.     I got a question do you hold sprint and parkour button or do u hold sprint on straight roofs with vaultable objects and just hold parkour when doing multiple jumps?

      I try to only hold sprint for straight roofs and floors but I will hold parkour button and sprint mostly when I'm about to enter a jump/parkour up sequence. I do often hold both out of habit of older games where trigger was high profile/jog and adding foot made him sprint.

      Cheers, appreciate it. I think there are some other good youtubers showing ejects, but probably not so much mainstream ones. Ejects and catch ledge are possible, but can be unreliable and not always that useful. Still looks cool and satisfying as hell when pulled off.

    Idk if its js me but after beating the game im pretty positive they improved side edjects and distance for side ejects and back ejects ive got a good idea on the parkour and id say its a little worse then syndicate.. also before anyone comes at me the freedom and limitations they removed/gave us in syndicate ruined Parkour.

      I agree, people often blame Origins for the big changes, but Syndicate is the main culprit (You can also sort of blame Unity or as far back as 3). I also think that they have improved ejects, not in all situations but it seems to be certain contexts, they add quite a bit more distance and sometimes height. At the end of the day, I enjoy Mirage's mechanics.

      They're much smoother than valhalla and Odyssey but you're right, it's no Unity. That game was something else visually and has yet to be beaten (although some of Mirage's textures and models actually come close). I believe Unity had proper motion capture which is why it goes unbeaten.

    Man whoever did the map designing in this game deserves a raise. Bordeaux was obviously passionate about this series because they seem to care, I hope they are given more games. sadly due mirage being built from the rpg system movement still feels very limited

      I hope they get the recognition and praise they deserve within Ubisoft and don't get treated like the in between small filler game. The way I see it, this game is the main one and Valhalla is a spin off of it exploring Basim's weird magic Loki thing.

      @@Noir-c9k yeah it's better than I thought it would be. It is obviously heavily based on Valhalla, but tweaked to the point where it feels much faster/smoother as well as a much better environment. I don't think I can go back to any of the RPGs after this. I really liked the AC1-Rev mechnics the best, and this is not a replica of that or as flashy as Unity, but it has many elements that are reminiscent of AC1, Ezio, AC3, and Unity. Side ejects and things like I show in this video are basically the same, but much more opportunity to use them.
