When the technical status of our F-5B twoseaters went low, creative training methods were required. A funny scene from a 336 sqn video showing a F-5 fighter jet towing an instructor giving taxi instructions from a sledge.

A video of a GLS precision Approach into Vadsø airport ENVD. The crew activates the Approach at 50Nm and from FL198. From this point the Aircraft flies a precision profile all the way to approach minimums. This level of Safety is not available from the ancient ILS.
Flying a precision GPS Approach into ENST.

A DHC-8 flying a GLS precision GPS Approach into Stokka airport in Norway. The only ground installation is a VHF data link antenna transmitting correction data to the FMS. The GLS can be activated at 50Nm giving a practical "Elevation" and "Azimuth" capture from FL200 and above. Try this with an ancient ILS.

Nice, this seems to be the earliest Kalandra live performance on UA-cam !
Wow.
Luftens moped som mobbende f-16 piloter kalte den 😅 Uansett, flotte linjer vissnok veldig morsomt å fly. A hands-on fighter. Og, fy pokker så lavt og raskt de fløy 💪
Enig
If they were to take off he'd have a hell of a time
Beste idee ooit... 🤣😂🤣
Mooi om te zien. Was geplaatst op EHV.

Me too!
You'd move that fast if your ar$e was on fire!!!😂
This fleet of f-5 can be combat ready in 1 minutes, you just have to remove the sled
Norway's NF-5A/Bs are pretty neat little fighters. They're technically not even standard Freedom Fighters, instead being Canadair-built CF-5s. Similar to the F-5E/F Tiger II, the CF-5A/D, NF-5A/B, and VF-5A/B all had the two-position nose gear strut, which would increase angle of attack for shorter takeoff runs (F-5 pilots often complained about long takeoff times). Shown here, these NF-5As also are mounted with Countermeasures Dispensers.
Everyone in 1990's: thats awesome!!! Everyone in 2020's: No helmet. High potential for injury. Misuse of government propery. Enhanced workplace safety training mandated.

Really enjoyed the video. I grew and I still live about a mile south of the departure end of Runway 17 center. Being an airplane enthusiast, I sure hated to see RAFB close down. I wish they would have kept it open as a functioning airfield, it would have been great to hangar close to the house.

Hello, that's great content you have there! I wanted to ask for permission/license agreement to download and use this video in a movie I'm working on.
😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh the 70s, best times ever
Most likely 80s since the fighter at the top at 0:04 is an F-16, and their service in the Norwegian air force started in 1980 and lasted until 2021.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why women live longer than men.
Music?

Not sure which position I'd rather be in, on the sled or in the cockpit of that beautiful F-5. I think I'd opt for the F-5.
Very beautiful aircraft, amazing flight!
I was a crew chief in Fox Flight during this time. That base cranked out quite a few pilots over the years I was stationed there in 80-86. Reese had the record for most flying hours in 1983. 64th FTW ran up a total of 98,500 flying hours which translated to a million and a half man hours of supporting maintenance action during that year. More than any other base in the USAF at the time, and that was with a tornado striking the base and nearby area with an accompanying hailstorm that year. That won us the AF Outstanding Unit Citation., helped the Wing commander attain his brigadier star, and got a story about the base in Air Force Magazine. Not bad for a small base you could walk all the way across in a matter of a few minutes. Thumbs up to everyone who served there.
Thank you for your dedicated service from an 81-03 Echo grad! You guys helped keep us safe.
Thanks from 81-03 as well. Those of us who flew your jets never forgot your hard work.
Hey you started me up and chocked me for two years. (T-38 IP 1985-86). I was not the guy who left his Pitot tube heat on! Really!
It was an honor to serve with you all. 🫡

Is that the A model?
Yes.
@@SandMartin That's pretty cool.

Our European friends are so more laid back then we are here in the US. Video looks old, maybe 90's?? They may not be quite that laid back these days, but even back then, that would get you in front of the "old man", if you were lucky, might even lead to a courts martial. Anyway, glad someone had a sense of humor and what a story to tell.
This video is probably from the early 80, in the first 5 sec in the procedure. you can see a F-5, Bell 412/Uh-1B and a F-16.
Well America has a military doctrine of fear. Something I suspect contributes to the high number of blue on blue incidents and also the tendency for suicide
Well we europians ( im a europian) are like that sometimes when we are bored but atlest we are having fun not all the time stresed
Uncle Sam has such a surplus to sell us for cheap, what else should we do with all of it?
Yeah remember being in the Norwegian Army and had Americans visit nice guys and all but they were always so super serious. They were shocked at some of the crazy shit we got away with that probably would have ended with a dishonorable discharge in the US military.
