In all my time playing dnd (except for my first few sessions.) I don't underestimate the Dice and this entire session has proven why you never assume anything that revolves around them. Rather they be real Dice or digital Dice, they have a mind of their own and it doesn't matter if they hinder or help you they will never stop surprising you. Valn I literally thought you were a goner it is a good thing that Ken was there to help you out. It looks like you found some good people that you can rely on. I also hope that you can call them friends. Ooooh so that is why Zaxi doesn't like water. I have met a couple of tabaxies who dislike water but still go in it if need be. Yeah I can see why you avoid it at all costs. Sorry that your limit break was not great but damage is still damage to the enemy. Think of it this way it died quicker since you did use your limit break (But yes Killer I definitely agree with you that it was very rude.) Ken I don't care what your title was at the time you were an amazing white mage keeping Valn alive. Plus that limit break was definitely the turning point of the battle in your guys favor. We'll done well done indeed. And of course we can't forget about our mvc (most valuable chocobo) Momo. Not only that you dealt the most damage but you dealt the final blow to the big poison frog. You definitely deserve all the Gryshal Greens you can eat and have infinite amount of attention and pets. Even though it was supposed to be a short one I still throughly enjoyed every second of it. So I too was the worst of luck recently with Dice so that is why I got the dragon skull. Has it improved my rolls that is to be determined 😅. Attacks of Opportunity aren't a thing in this system. The dots last the entire phase or until they're removed, whichever comes first.

I believe a direct hit has to be the same as or higher than the corresponding armor class, right? So rolling a 12 when the defense is 12 should be a direct hit? Not complaining, just making a small observation, haha.

I completely with you there Wolf I can't seriously trust anything anymore. About a half an hour waiting for Erindale, I decided to go outside to get some fresh air. Kick a stone and just think about what happened the past couple days. Ever since they started this journey they are constantly reminded they can never use magic and yet alot of the king's guards/government can, lousy hypocrites. But not only that we some how stumbled in a fight amongst the gods. How did we get into this mess. While mulling this over in my head Val and Rose come out. (This paragraph is really what I am feeling and trying to figure out.) Well this is probably the most empty tavern that I have been in. When Rose opened the "second" sheet I am thinking 'Great another hypocrite'. This thought is reinforced when the money disappears and reappears and also the food comes up. You are god of cooking you have got to be kidding me. Is there any one of importance who isn't a god? If you tell me that the king is god I think I will believe you. Now that we are on the subject of gods and goddesses, let me just say that the only one I have faith in is butter toast fly. Because of all the gods or demigods have either transported us try to kill us or give us no information when we desperately need it. Isn't that Rose .... uh Rose are you there? Oh great what the hell did you do?!? Oh it is a happy memory food? Okay Val I trust you. After another half an hour of slow chewing I realize that it is going to be another long wait so I lean up in a chair and take a nap. After a bit I opened my eyes to see a very big pile of paper cranes. Whoa Val you have been very busy that is very impressive. Oh Erindale when did you get here? After the 150th crane is made and it forms into a ring and it is explained that is a gift from the chef god. We'll thank you for the gift my, but my opinion of gods other than butter toast fly still remains. After a few minutes talking to the blacksmith and listening on how she dislikes Charles and gods in general I like her already (Actual opinion of her.) Oh good speak of the devil the demigod is....back. Corol is that oh thank the butter toast fly you alive. Why can't you speak, because your god mute you because of your questions why am not surprised. Listening to Charles about the gifts and also putting a good word for us on how we can help them out. So what I am getting is that the reason why we got these gifts is so that we can help you guys out. Why do I get the feeling that we are just tools to these gods now. Well we are glad to have the gifts and yes it probably a good idea to cross the chasm. (Under my breath) At least to get out of this hell hole. Psychic I just want you to know that I am completely and utterly loving this campaign that you made so I am hoping that my grumbling is not making you think that I dislike the story. It's all the gods goddesses (except for butter toast fly) and hypocrites that is making me grumble. So love all the gifts that you guys got but I have to say that I think I like Roses more. Congrats on the level up but just like Wolfkinz Psychic gives us a cliffhanger about the power hungry (sorry Psychic I am just terrible with names.) The first videos and the load of comments and videos one finds online made me wonder if this works well as a Pen and Paper-style game....with the abilities and such, its way easier to see how this game is more like "Descent, Journeys in the dark". And in that regard, i am actually excited about it!

I believe it's only supposed to stop markers and "charge" attacks, similar to in-game. It breaks their charging or magic, but only for a couple of seconds, which I would say is not a whole turn on their half. But DMs can do as they please so it's fun to play around with.

This was a very battle heavy episode and it was great. Too bad we missed him we could have asked him what he was doing there. Let's go back to the cave and see if we can find those crystals. I can't see anything in this cave can someone please light a torch. Oh thank you Valn....um hello (didn't surprise me that something was trying to sneak in the dark to get the jump on us.) Zaxi I am very surprised that you can function so well in the water. But can definitely tell that you really regretted that jump when you splashed down and getting water including yourself. But taking out one of them like that was really cool and disgusting at the same time. Bell once again you have proven to me that I never ever want to be the receiving end of your spells at all. Valn I agree with Wolfkinz Bell definitely did most of the damage today. However the way you killed one by split one of them in half was a sight to be hold. So I am glad in my last assessment of you I was wrong. Not only you help and protect your friends you try to spare the enemy. Too bad that he didn't take it. Who would do such a thing to these creatures this is just a massacre.( killer bubbles I too think they look cute too.) Oh and Bell I think the word you are looking for is "talons" not fins. What's that up there it looks like a blueish color. Zaxi I know you hate the water but could be a little more quiet. And join you I think not. I got another option, how about we just take the crystals and depending on how you answer on where the other team that was looking for the crystals we may or may not let you live. (The drake and the rest of them come in. Starting to get nervous and sweat a little bit.) And this is supposed to scare us? I'm gonna point out more lore things in another comment once I've finished watching this. But I love how Kin and Zaxi's connection is because Zaxi being a Dragoon or as they're affectionately called by the community. Floor tanks. So it makes so much sense that a White Mage would get to know a dragoon from having to scoop them up from the floor XD Also in very player-like ways the character names break 'typical' naming conventions for most races. Kin's name probably makes sense because Hyur's being Hyurs. (Though Zaxi might also follow naming conventions it depends if it's Zaxi or Z'axi, and if Zaxi is a sun cat or moon cat!) And while I very much enjoy the FF14 lore I'm not here to be the lore police or anything! Just gonna be having some fun seeing what tidbits of lore from the game might get touched on. Though I already have a few things ready to point out! But that's for my next comment!

This game is cool. I’ve been trying to DM for a while and this game was so easy to understand for me I managed to run an adventure successfully… even though I only had one Tank so I had to do a bit of improvisation. I’d love to play though too 😅

Honestly, I was excited at first, to hear about the XIV tabletop. Then I watched a video and found all my excitement sucked away, because they stuck with the shitty Holy Trinity system and forced us into generic DPS/Tank/Healer roles. AKA 'MMO classes, but not actual FF jobs'

The Noid (yes Killer Bubbles I too thought of him when Psychic described him.) Okay.......well magic literally doesn't effect this thing effect at all why do we try whacking it a few times.....Charles what the hell is going on here?!?!? Thank you for helping us but was the big explosion was really necessary? It does bring unpleasant memories of Lando up and The Noid didn't help either bringing him back to life in a way. (While I say I dust myself off but stop when I hear that the Noid will come back.) What? You mean to tell me that after that explosion and hearing the death screams of Lando and that thing it is going to come back. Well that's just great what the hell this thing is and yes I refuse to call it a 'he' because the this thing does not look human. Is thing a god.... no it's stolen power so is it stronger than you what the hell is going on here?!?! I want answers and I want them NOW!!!!! Oh please don't speak in riddles like every demigod, higher being or whatever you are. What do you mean that we are not strong enough? We have been teleported without our consent I might add multiple times and we deserve some explanation. Again with the small explanations!!!!( At this point I am getting very annoyed and angry with Charles like Rose is. Both as the observer and as the audience.) Based on your knowledge if you were able to convert the premade sheets to dnd what level would each sheet be? I was thinking that the lvl 30 sheets would be somewhere around lvl 10.

I have played quite a few of Final Fantasy however 14 wasn't one of them so this is a brand new experience for me. And what I have seen I really like. I want to start with Bell only because since you don't say alot you are quite mysterious. Not saying that it is a bad thing it's just very hard to get a read on what you are like. However you are definitely very good with investigation and I really don't want to be on the receiving end of your spells. Valn I don't think that I ever had a seen rabbit folk (sorry can't spell the actual name) as a warrior before. Usually they are mages or artificers. Someone said that you like to help other people get through their dungeons and/or quests. (PsychicGaymer if I misunderstood you when you were talking about Valn I apologize but this is what I understood what you meant.) However you kind of seem distant towards rest of the group not really paying attention to much information and splitting off doing your own thing when you were both at the Quicksands bar and the other smaller tavern. You did wonderfully during the battle with the Antlings and it is very impressive on you handled that great axe. It just seems like you are a different person than from I was told you were. (PsychicGaymer you role played beautifully and I still love you it's just what you described Valn and how he acted is definitely very different. Definitely not saying that it is bad and I love it. I just noticed it but as I said before I could have misunderstood your description of Valn.) Kin first thing I have to say to you is you remind me of a certain someone who looks like a hirm (not sure if I spelled that right) but has rabbit like ears, I don't know if you have meant him before but I think you would like him. (Ace if you weren't trying to role play like Izzy I am sorry. But I can't help but seeing major similarities to both of them.) The reason why I say this is just like this certain someone you want to get all the information about a quest, you are very talkative which I like alot from both of you. But mostly you are always willing to help anyone and always want everyone to be safe. That is a great attribute to have. I have to admit it though it was quite funny how you were trying to be stealthy and kicked a rock ending the the conversation between the two people you all were trying to spy on. And that just leaves Zaxi have to say I like you the most you are energetic, funny and fun to be with. Also love your chocobo most of all she is just very beautiful. Your fighting style almost reminds me of a certain monk (Ava) and that jump ability definitely hits hard. It would have been awesome if you stayed on that Antling, and killed it that way but it was still very impressive. Typical tabaxie that doesn't like water. However I am not surprised that you got the closest to the conversing people. Stealthy like a cat.😺 Wolfkinz great drunk role play I was dying of laughter when you played as the elf character and this new way of game play is very interesting and I love the alchemy dice. I can't wait to learn more of the gameplay. To all who are new here I have been watching this group since day one. And I can tell you with full confidence that this is not scripted the instances in which they called their rolls are very impressive but they just got lucky. I love this new Kupoquest I can't wait for more along with the original and Temptations. I hope you enjoy your break I love you all and I will see you all again.😊

As cool as this seems, I'm really disappointed they chose to go the route of d20 fantasy when that really just... isn't how combat feels to play in FFXIV. I think I'll stick with Fabula Ultima for my Eorzea-related questing.

Gonna have to subscribe to catch that future actual play. Still I am interested to see how this game plays, and how to 'break' it. Like could you run trial or raid encounters in this game with a full party? Could you at say a con run a 24 man Alliance raid? The latter feels unlikely. The former though, I think could work. There are definitely some questions I have can you change jobs between adventures? Is each job XP tracked or is it full on character? Granted I haven't looked into the starter set at all because honestly, I've been waiting to see when this rulebook comes out.

One month into the starter set, and am loving this game! Standard rulebook preorder was just announced! Small point of order: hit points does not equate to 'life points', it's your resolve according to the rulebooks. The books go into detail about what 0hp means for your group. There is an enfeeblement called Death (which makes me think of things like Doom) but dropping to 0hp does not mean you are unconscious. With quicksaves, you can just go back and restart of the encounter (or any point the group agrees on) with a Phoenix Down style rule applying.

Well I wasn't expecting that at all this has gotten really interesting. Corrol I have to say that I like that you are easy going, it is nice to have a person who doesn't mind where they go or what they do. I know that I judge you for being part elf in the beginning. I want to apologize for that. I meant with pure elf or part elf and they looked down on alot of people because they don't age fast. (Well except for one by the name of Ava.) Rose I too am very worried about Valeriss this definitely is not like her just to up and dissappear with no explanation. In her words 'It is highly illogical to not tell anyone where you are going.' I too hope that she is alright. Also I completely agree with you that everyone here is a huge hypocrites. To say that magic is completely banned but openly use it like there is nothing wrong, only makes me angry. And now we have a person who got Lando killed using magic only adds fuel to the fire. I would love to hold him down and you do whatever you want to him. Errindelle very clever with Archivest, I am pretty sure that it was a little easier because he probably just wanted to get back to his work. However it was still very impressive. I do have to ask though you have been to the Archives before but the way you acted towards the door it was like you have not seen a door before. I hope that I am not the only one who thinks that this person (sorry I am terrible with names and I can't remember his) is very creepy. I am getting very pissed off with him especially what he did with the crystal. What he said really is making me think can he see me observe and making these comments. I will definitely continue to observe but from now on I will be watching my back. Great great episode guys I have to say that was definitely worth the wait. Don't get me wrong all episodes of this and Kupoquest are worth the wait but this ending of this episode really takes the cake. Psychic I can't wait for what you have in-store for us in this campaign. Also I hope Killer Bubbles is doing alright. And also thanks for the heads up Wolfkinz about Kupoquest. If the rules are simple and there's nothing really flashy, many of their mmo subscribers might jump to their first ttrpg. Find it fun, see what ekse is around and discover other games. Honestly it's a net positive. Probably wont be as impactful as 5e, but they have enough customers to warrant giving a ttrpg a shot.

I’m relieved it doesn’t appear too complex! FF’s main draws for me are the character chemistry, the storytelling, and the way it blends sci-fi and fantasy adventure tropes. I wonder if there will be a system like Tenra Bansho Zero’s (another TTRPG) with which characters progress by pursuing player-made character arcs, with the ability to alter one’s arc in response to game events.

The issue i see with this is a simple problem: FF14 has been making itself easy in its MMO and seems to be taking that sane approach here....but thats what D&D is for D20 systems. Its not a niche that needs filling and is playing against the juggernaut of the scene. Imo, they should approach a uniquely deep system with roleplaying rather than combat. 14 is KNOWN for its story, so it could fit in. Then making the combat lore accurate (AKA way more lethal and healing having limited effectiveness) can cement it as a strong d20 system geared to story telling enabling mechanics above all else.
