Do they bloom at the same time? If so I bet the fruits contain cross pollinated seed of changsha & taichang lemon!
YES they do bloom at the same time. Probably a few hybrids in the seeds.
Stan the Man!
here to report, the hybrids of ichang papeda and citremon (poncirus x lemon) are doing great up here so far. the lowest temp we got in the mountains haven't killed them yet.
Looks like some great crops. We had several fruit this year here in SC 8a, that we got from Mr. Stan.
Love what you do
I love the two Owari Satsuma trees I bought from you over 10 years ago. I live in North Georgia in the mountains, the two trees are planted in the ground inside of an unheated greenhouse. They survived the 3F-16F weekend of December 2022 here. This are would generally be considered at Zone 7B, but that was a freak weekend I spose. I only had two 75 watt reflector lamps near them, but they survived pretty much untouched. I have been fighting a scale infestation for a few years though, which caused more damage than the cold ever did.
WOW thats amazing!
Every thing looks great this year. I’m working on a bigger greenhouse for citrus in the ground are the trees in yours on flying dragon rootstock. And I can’t remember how much space in between them. Did you have a little flame on the heater on the cold nights. Thanks again.
They are on standard trifoliate rootstock.. I havent used any flame on them this year. I did do a couple of electric space heaters last year when we went into the high teens for a night or two.
What part of South Carolina are you in? We live in Aiken SC
My Changsha and Ten degree I bought from you are chugging along here in zone 6 Central WA. They have taken several nights of low 20s and no damage so far at all, just put a small unheated plastic greenhouse on them to prepare for those colder temps coming. Also got the frost blankets and incandescent light bulbs ready if we get an artic blast. Looking forward to getting more trees from you to include that citsuma just for curiosity's sake lol.
Add a citsuma at your own risk! LOL
Stan!! Great video!!
Stan, do you or would you ship to Kansas? Thank you.
I was surrounded by orange groves in Central FL.Then back to back freezes in the mid 80's killed off some of them but it took HLB disease to finish them off in the years 2010-2023. Now I' m in eastern Tenn. starting my own mini citrus grove with the help of Stan the Amazing Citrus Man. Thanks Stan for reviving my citrus tree obsession here in a fairly colder climate but, this time,no hurricanes,no HLB disease,no HOA restrictions. Just a handful of sub freezing nights to contend with. Thanks Stan for another fascinating tour of your SC farm!
What are your favorite cold hardy citrus? I'm just north of you in zone 8a. I already have a shiranui and browns select from you. They're doing great up here so far this winter.
I have probably 4 or 5 more satsuma varieties that you havent tried.
@citrusman99 I'm planning on ordering a yuzu, a ten degree tangerine, and a prague this spring!
Thanks for the video. I would like to visit in Late February. What fruits will be available for sale at that time? Thanks, Tony Myrtle Beach
That will be a little late in the season for citrus, but there may be some things left in the greenhouse citrus fruit.
I got two plants from Stan last year, Yuzu and Satsuma brown select. I’m in New York, Long Island, zone 7b Both trees had about 6 fruits this fall, fully ripe and delicious. With proper care in the winter you can grow them outdoors in ground Thank you Stan, always admire your talent and hard work growing citrus.!!
Congratulations on this accomplishment! I tell people who are buying citrus trees... " ITs How Bad You Want It"! If you have the passion and the dedication, you can make it happen!
Nice. I'm considered to be in zone 7B here in the Georgia Appalachian mountains. The Owari Satsuma Mandarins I got from Stan have been planted outdoors (in an unheated greenhouse) for 10+ years now.
Yay! Love getting the updates and tours!
When you say “spray with water”, can you explain that some more? Struggling with these 20 degree nights.
I use a micro mist sprayer that is above the top of the trees... these spray about an 8ft diameter circle icing the complete tree in the process. I would reccoment icing down young trees anytime its going below 25F... Older trees, I dont spray unless its going below 20F.
He has a system that automatically switches on some water sprinklers that help keep the trees from freezing. This is a classic citrus orchard freeze protection system as far as I remember.
Absolutely beautiful trees. Thank you for sharing.
I just recently bought a satsuma from him this month, will be growing it outdoors in zone 6 Pennsylvania in the summer of 2026
This year I planted a Brown Select Satsuma and Kumquat in 7b NJ with protection.
I have a dunson in the ground in Tennessee. I am hoping to come down and get a few more from you in 2025. Thank you for the tour. I love these videos
Thank you!
Sir Stan the Citrus Man is the real deal. I bought a couple of trees from him, and I am growing them outdoors in Georgia 8 a. We'll see how they do, I have some videos on my channel. They were very well packed, healthy trees. And the customer service cannot be beat. If you are looking for cold hardy citrus, I wholeheartedly recommend Mckenzie Farms. I'll be picking up a few more in spring.
Thank you!
@citrusman99 My pleasure, Sir. You are a treasure!
Two years ago I was a normal person then I met. Stan now I am a citraholic. And there is no cure 😅❤
HAHAHA! Welcome to the club!
We have to start a Citruholics annonymous group! LOL
So many citrus trees i want to buy😂 my browns satsuma and meiwa kumquat I got from you arr doing good here in Scranton Pennsylvania
Thats great! Glad to know they are doing well!
I LOVE your videos. There is nothing like getting a walking tour of the amazing citrus that you grow. NOBODY else can compare.
Thanks Mike! Your comments made my day!
The freeze hit my lemons. I didn't get to protect them in time. MOst of leaves are now yellow, but the branches are still mostly green. I'm getting out today and build a makeshift protection shed.
As Winston Churchill said: Never give up! LOL
I've had citrus become completely bare and come back. My dog chewed my kumquat to the ground last year and it came back, so have faith!
Could you do a video about cold protecting your citrus trees. What temperature do they need protection at, how best to do it, etc?
Very beautiful. Would love to see a new cold hardy citrus patch tour.
Coming up shortly!
Thanks for sharing your vast knowledge of growing hardy citrus!
I had a question I bought a 10 degree tangerine and it has lost all its leaves for winter is this normal?
@@HurtHomestead How cold has it been and how long have you had the tree?
@ i live about about 45 minutes down the road from McKenzie farms, coldest it’s been so far probably 28 degrees I do have incandescent lights bulbs on it though
@@HurtHomestead Sounds like you have something else going on. 28 f is not cold enough to be concerned about protecting. Could be the heat causing the problem.
@@TheCitrusman do you think that the lack of rain this month could be a reason on top of that I watered it really well when I planted it then a two weeks later it rained? I thinking the light bulb was resting on the graph might of cooked it? Could this be the cause of my issue?
@@HurtHomestead That is very possible. You have to have some distance between the tree and the heat source. If it has green stems.. then you still may be oK
Stan you are the citrus man! I have gotten many trees from you and they all have done well. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful tree! I hope you're getting ready for Tuesday night. It looks like we'll be seeing the upper teens. The forecast keeps getting worse and worse. Happy Thanksgiving!
Ive been prepping all day for the low forecast for Wed Nite. I havent done any thing so far. My protection point is 20F or lower... Hope you and your bride are doing well!
Thank you and Happy thanksgiving Stan!
Thanks Stan!
Looking good, Stan! Happy Thanksgiving sir!!
Keep the videos coming, Stan! We all want to learn as much as we can from you! By the way, you need a microphone lol 😜
Hello Mr. Stan, this is Alan McDonald of the Hee Haw House (Junior Samples house). The Meyer Lemon trees you have sold me are doing great! I have 15-20 lemon buds sprouting on one tree, about 6 on another, and 3 on the tree you sent me this spring. Your lemons and what did you call the orange fruit, Changshaws? Yours look great!
Glad to hear they are doing well for you!
Thanks for the breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
No Comprende???
thanks for sharing 😀😀😀
Your citrus trees produced amazing fruit here in North Carolina this year.
so Happy for you! Great to know!
Beautiful tree.
Nice! Great citrus plants at your farm
Fantastic, looking tree and great looking fruit. Thanks for the video.
I got started with your hardy citrus trees 3 years ago and now I began grafting my own . What a great value and price for something so good thanks!
Stan is one of the best in the business, and couldn't be a nicer guy. Purchased a Browns Select satsuma, Sugar Belle tangerine, Thomasville citrangequat, and pineapple guava a year ago. All of them are thriving. Highly recommend a visit to learn so much more about premium citrus.
Hey Stan. Can you grow the Jaboticaba in ground in Ga zone 8A?
That Pineapple guava sounds nice. Did not know that they were cold hardy down to 8 degrees. Thanks for sharing.
It went from flower to ripe fruit in 3 weeks?! Amazing.
IT absolutely is amazing! I had some horticulture college students visit my farm this morning and they were able to taste the fruit! 2 out of the 6 went home with a Jabo tree! LOL
Good evening Stan. I received the tree today. Going to open it up tomorrow and record it. I will give you a mention. I really appreciate all your help.
From one UA-camr to another... THANKS!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😀👍😀✅❗️
I bought 2 small healthy Meiwa Kumquats and it only took 4 month and now they have fruits ! I will be back to buy more !
