    A fascinating movie! Stanley said so much about the 'elites' and how things are done. Here we are in 2024 seeing more truths revealed about Hollywood and the music industry. Do you have any info on when and how Stanley Kubrick died?... It wasn't long after the movie came out? Also didn't he have a fear of flying?... or was it a fear of going abroad?

    • @roganmarshall4610
      @roganmarshall4610 2 дні тому

      I don't know whether or not it's true that Kubrick actively feared flying. I know that completely eschewing work related travel, gave him a social and professional distance, from the industry, that could definitely have been useful to him... Even celebrities had to go to him, to literally his country estate, to take meetings... I don't know what his declared/official cause of death was. He did die shortly after turning in a director's cut of Eyes Wide Shut, so presumably the shift in physical strain, when the movie was finished, is what killed him. I've heard from people who knew him and worked with him that Kubrick's drug of choice was pure oxygen - he liked to huff oxygen as a stimulant and always had a tank close at hand... and was also a multiple packs a day chain smoker. So whatever the specific cause of death was, that peculiar combination of personal habits, and what it did to his lungs and heart, is certainly what got him. Kubrick, I've been told, died in bed, while grabbing for the oxygen. (I was in a FB group for a while with a bunch of guys who were older than me, who'd worked on the last couple of Kubrick movies, and those comment threads are my source - )

      Funny - is that unrelated? Was it in this thread I brought up The Day Of The Locust? (Schlesinger's next movie) I saw Midnight Cowboy once when I was 19 and I don't remember much about it at all, except that it was really great, and I probably shouldn't have watched it tripping (it set off a "bad trip" moment of crisis... Good morning, hope you doing okay rn. I can see what you mean about it being bad but good. There's even a popular saying often used for B-movies that something's "So bad, it's good." Like it's a mess and badly made, but totally fun and enjoyable to watch and it's "great" for that.

    • @roganmarshall4610
      @roganmarshall4610 3 місяці тому

      I'm doing fairly well... making most of my videos sitting up! That "so bad it's good" thing kind of starts around 1931 or so... maybe it was impossible to give those kinds of impressions without dialogue? I don't know... silent movies are bad because they're slow and they wander. The Crooked Circle is early, but this is the era in which small independent companies started making movies, and making up for a lack of money, equipment, and top line talent and training, with commitment and zaniness... That B movies were like this in the thirties, also explains a lot about Ed Wood (the Welles of indie "bad" filmmakers)... Wood grew up on THIS stuff. Wood was the guy who sat alone in a theater watching The Crooked Circle and poverty row pictures like it, and saw in them a vision for his own life and work

      If you watch a whole lot of silent movies, you find it's German filmmakers who created/developed how to use pacing and timing, the way movies still do, now, pretty much. The Russians sort of invented using editing to tell the story, but lots of the standard moves used to put scenes together, to this day, first turn up in German movies, from 1920 to 1930, ish (that's about when all the talented German filmmakers started leaving Europe for the States)

    I enjoyed Little Shop of Horrors. I seem to remember it had a short resurgence of popularity in the late 90s and I had a copy on dvd. The news says he died at the grand old age of 98. Good to see you uploading. 😀

      Dude, you're always my fact checker. I totally said "89" in the video, because some FB friend had that reversed, and then later I thought, no way he was that young

    I'm glad to see you upload again. It sounds like you're dealing with a lot right now, but don't give up and love yourself. As a suggestion maybe you could ask for a bike on the internet or do a gofundme? And please take care of your health, it's very valuable.

    Hiya, Rogan. I haven't seen any uploads from you the past few days. I may have not been notified, but I hope that all is well. Thursday is my only day off at the moment, so I am just catching up Friday evening. Be well, and blessings to all. 🙏🏻💕🥂

      Hi! I'm okay enough. I'm kind of exhausted from work... I've had to spend most of my waking hours lying down and resting for most of the last week. But I'm okay... thanks for thinking of me

    You're not forcing people to watch these videos. If you want to upload them you can and if you don't want to upload them, you don't have to. But whatever you feel please do not do any harm to yourself, it cannot be undone and so you will likely regret it. A lot of survivors of suicide say that in the moments they thought they were about to die they regretted their decision. Also when you feel bad it's good to watch something that makes you laugh.

    Bad people never worry if they're a bad person, they don't have that level of self awareness. It's always the good people who know they could be better that think they're bad. I almost called you on your birthday but I knew you wouldn't answer, you've never been a fan of that day. You have friends, we just can't get to you to help out. And if God really hated you, he'd make you live forever.

      I'm actually convinced I will live forever, and it's going to get worse after I die, that this entire life is a trick to goad me into trying to escape punishment... I had to make sure my phone was turned off on my birthday, actually, because it's Red's birthday too, and when she calls and rants at me and hangs up on me, it really upsets me. Anyway no one could call me. I worked that night... only one person here knew it was my birthday, a waitress, and she gave me a key chain, so I actually got a present, which was awesome

    Don't die. Please. No matter what you think of life, you don't know what death could be like. Who's to say being dead is better than being alive? Nobody's actually died and come back, so nobody knows what it's really like. Do you really want to die? Or do you just not want to suffer? And you are what you are. What makes you think you're not a good person? Real bad people don't question if they're bad people. Have you done anything bad? If so, then forgive yourself and learn from it. If you haven't, then in no way are you bad.

    • @roganmarshall4610

      I don't think I'm a bad person, in the sense that I do evil or destructive things. I mean, I'm not great, but I'm not lousy... I'm a bad person in the same sense that a book or a movie is "bad." No one can put up with being around me, no one can like me or relate to me or relax if I'm in the room. It's not possible to "love" me or "need" me. But no, as far as what people normally mean by a "bad person" - I sure have things to answer for, especially when I was young and drinking heavily, but generally speaking, I guess I'm a good person, as far as that goes. Good enough anyway

      @@roganmarshall4610You're not a book or a movie. You're not bad just because other people don't like you, it sounds like you're basing yourself off of what other people think of you. It's not your fault that others have bad opinions of you. You're a person with valid feelings and you can do great things. Like you said, you are enough. So don't beat yourself up when you've done nothing wrong.

    Don't kill yourself, please. Life is neither fair nor unfair, things simply happen and they are what they are. Good things happen to everyone, and so do bad things. Keep living. It's worth it to stay alive, even if life is painful. God does not hate you. The things written about God say that he loves all in his creation and is forgiving to everyone, and in all the universe why would he specifically hate you? If anything, he'd want you to keep going instead of giving up on life. Everyone deserves to be loved, and happiness is a birthright. Being kind to yourself is the deepest kindness one can do, so do what makes you happy, forget worrying if you "deserve" it and focus on showing compassion toward yourself. Accept what you are, don't spend your energy on the people who hate you and don't want you alive.

No, once I used "bad words" in a video title, and the video didn't post, but that was reasonable, I shouldn't have done it

    Right when you said that God wants you dead or to be alone, Zoe came to your calling. There's the answer. Embrace and love what you do have, not what you lack right now, Rogan. If God wants anything, it would be to pull yourself up and persevere. On a side note, I have the day off today, so I took your recommendation of The Magician. I never knew of that film, but lived in England for many years, so had read all about Alistair's shenanigans. Be well. I look forward to the day when your next film comes out.

    Hello Mr Rogan!! I think that yes you should rest if you are physically stressed too much. I am not old nor very wise so don't trust me too much on what I say, but stay safe and be nice to yourself! Also maybe try playing the guitar more, like some music you like on it? It might help you feel better.
