If I had to guess, I'm assuming a member in the audience smuggled a portable cassette recorder into the venue and recorded it, hence the terrible quality. Still, it's very nice to hear this performance! If only it had been professionally recorded. My guess is that Vangelis did this on purpose.

I will never tire of Vangelis' work, for all the internets issues it at least has created a place where Vangelis' tracks not sold in CD/Vinyl formats are now available for all, and for free, he did so much amazing work in obscure tv shows or movies or even for private businesses, where it would've been impossible to find the full track untampered and separate from the program itself and other noise. Happy to see a new video on extracting music from the 1986 special edition of Carl Sagan’s Cosmos. It’s been ages since the last ones. Definitely happy this one’s been cleaned up, so that I can actually enjoy it for what it actually is. Definitely the most emotional of these unreleased tracks, as it almost makes me shed a tear.
