The new tech is garbage. What do I need a larger touch screen for? Why would I need a better resolution back up camera? All I need is good enough. Generally, the less tech the better - far less to break.

Scared to update? mmmm sure. I'm taking delivery of my new 24 TRD ORP next week. Your Ford Edge will never make it to where I off-road but most people don't need that capability but the 4Runner has always been based on using them off-road even if people didn't use it for this reason. IMHO the 6th gen looks like vomit. No hood struts but oh auto lift gate. I can lift it myself. I don't want new tech nor removable doors. Glad I don't have a 15inch screen inside my vehicle. I don't need that either.

I have brain rot watching this. Ok so the engine hasn’t been updated because it doesn’t need to be. BULLET PROOF! the transmission is a slow poke 5-speed because it doesn’t need to be. BULLET PROOF! I love the look of the 4Runner, I’m ok with the tech as long as there is apple carplay, the backup camera resolution doesn’t matter and don’t care for back up sensors. I do wish it had a bit more power and better fuel economy other than that I’m good with everything. Much better than any Kia or ford out there in its price range. Will also hold its value better than any of the other vehicles you mentioned

Financially this truck doesn't make any sense. I don't care how reliable 4R is, you are going to spend at least 500 dollars a month on gas, insurance increases, and a higher APR if you're buying new. It's going to be closer to 8 - 10 percent even with good credit. You'll end up paying bone stock sr5 4runner for 65 - 75k.
@@motdu7102 valid points. Thanks for sharing. 👍
IA 4Runner is 4.9% with good credit. All the other manufacturer rates are lower. The problem is the auto market has been taken over by the EPA and political nutbags. They dictate what kind of vehicles these manufacturers have to produce. None of the manufacturers wanted to mess with downsizing engine size, turbos, batteries or 8.9.10 speed transmissions or CVT's. Nothing on these new models can be DIY and the service prices are quadruple what the 4Runner is which can be DIY everything. The 2024 4Runner is the last of the vehicles built specifically to make consumers happy. The vehicles now are designed and built to make the EPA and political zealots happy. Not everyone is commuting 80 miles a day in Los Angeles traffic. I work from home and my wife commutes 7 miles. The 2024 SR5 Premium is $45K here.
@@roberta949 thanks for the detailed feedback. Appreciate it. 👍
@@roberta949Interesting. 2024 SR5 4x2 is selling over 45k, 4x4 is almost 50k where I live. The price of these car is beyond ridiculous. And i could not find bank that offered lower than 8.1 when I was shopping even with 726 credit score. I ended up buying 2024 turbo premium CX90 for 53k with 1.99 through mazda.
I would buy one for under 40k brand new. No way I'm paying 46k for sr5 4x4, 54k for trd pro. This car is almost 15 years old. 15 yr old technology, 15 yr old safety features, 15 yr old platform.
@@POSS99 good points. Thanks for checking out the video.

@@Vox-Populi lol. Absolutely. Thanks for checking out the video.
While I appreciate the video, the Toyota 4runner is one of the longest lasting vehicles today. The tech that the 4runner comes with is easily upgradable with a new headunit and idata pro. The mpg while not stealer still runs a little over the stated 16/19 as long as you are not modding it out. Here's the thing about 4runners, people still stand in line to purchase one because they're not buying tech, they're not buying MPG's, they're buying reliability. The top 3 sold 4runner trims are the Limited, TRD Off-Road, and TRD PRO. People want the 4runner for its all-wheel drive, and 4 wheel drive capabilities because that was the purpose of the Toyota 4runner.
@@christophershelton7272 100% agree which is why a did a video on 5 reasons to buy a Gen 5. 4Runner. Thanks for the feedback. 5 Reasons To Buy a Gen 5 Toyota 4Runner - Get One While You Can ua-cam.com/video/UsPKRuVy28o/v-deo.html
Man, I must say I'm planning to daily drive a base C5, and most videos online are "best 5 mods" but all look at it from a racing perspective. Great dependable truck for rugged, off-road trails, absolutely awful for just about anything else, such as, say, driving on an actual paved road or highway.
@@tpolerex7282 lol. It will definitely last forever. Thanks for checking out the video.
Sorry to sound harsh but I put several weeks into researching, driving and looking at all the new SUV's out there for 2024 & 2025. This vehicle is best out there for NOT being in the shop with a bunch of problems. That's the biggest problem with all these newer EPA loving vehicles piled full of electronics to be a Smartphone on 4 wheels and a bunch of driver assist crap so you can text every minute you are on the road. You can still DIY work on the vehicle yourself. The other pavement loving soccer mom vehicles are pretty much a 5 years ownership tops then dump it at a huge loss and get another for $10K more than the last. That is after you make the dealer rich with all the under warranty problems dragging you from work. One trip to the dealer for repairs or additional thousands in depreciation negates all gas savings.
@@roberta949 thanks for the feedback and for checking out the video. 👍

New 2025 4runner will have a turbo. That's all I needed to know to avoid it. I'll be getting a 2024 4runner. Coming from a 2003 Highlander, I will appreciate the lack of an automobile fitted with the newest tech. I want a vehicle that will last a long time.
It will definitely last a long time. Thanks for checking out the video. 👍

I feel like 5th gens are gonna become what 3rd gens are now in 20+ years with a HUGE following and becoming sort of a classic which means even beat up examples with a lot of miles will still cost way more than any vehicle it’s age and class. Good luck finding any 3rd gen for less than $5k and expect to pay more if it’s a 4wd or has a rear locker.
Good points. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Ok you asked for it. Here's the hate mail! I get 18-20 mpg around town and 20-23mpg highway on my 5th gen SR5 which is pretty average for an SUV that weighs over 4,000 lbs.( and is not very aerodynamic. ) Your mpg claims are false! The rear liftgate is not that heavy. A Real man doesnt need a power lift gate. Thats new tech The electronic gadgets these days will fail and cost big$$ in years to come. The 4 runner will last decades and 300K miles (or more)Since you drive a ford edge, you wouldnt understand. Your Edge will fail in under 10 years

Less is more....the 5th Gen will hold its value & as soon as the 6th gen motors start having issues people will be pulling the chute. The 6th look nice but it will not have the heart & soul of it's predacessors. The motor & transmission were not built for speed, they were designed to get you there & back a million times on a nickel. You made this video without doing your home work & to get attention. Next up...why george is ridin with commalaaaaa
Lol.
I can only hope in the last months of production that Toyota makes more TRD OffRoad's without adding a bunch of crap to them I don't want.
Agree. 👍
In the last 5 months I've found two 2024 4Runners TRD OffRoad's without anything added, both 7 states away and they were sold 2 days after hitting the lot to a local as I was trying to buy them online. Not one has hit Maryland, the state I'm in. 99.9% are the premium with the dreaded sunroofs.
@@kimbuck-2 When it rains on a sunroof, the water drains through 4 plastic tubes that run ((inside)) the vehicle and out onto the under frame. Not all the water gets out and pools up in places, aka, stagnant water inside the vehicle. If one comes loose, springs a hole, or gets clogged, the water then drains inside, onto your electronics, seats, dash, airbags, ect. Leaves and sticks get into these tubes and clog them all the time. Toyota recommends you don't park under or near trees for this reason. No sunroof for me, ty.
Black rims would make that SR5 pop.
@@RogueDemagogue totally 👍
The TRD Pro is overpriced for what you get. First off, the Pro is lifted, that's a no no as the 4Runner wasn't built to be lifted, for whatever reason, Toyota never fixed that issue with the 4Runner. Second is the Fox shocks on that lifted Pro, they are race care shocks, lol, and outdated, that's a quote from the CEO of Fox shocks. Toyota bought fox shocks on 60% off sale as fox shocks upgraded their line. you'll notice the 2025 4Runners went with a different shock and ditched Fox. Other than the badge, everything else is the same as the TRD Offroad. The Pro has a ridiculous basket on top, lol. You pay extra for the tires that you can buy on Amazon and have 4 more extra spare tires. The best buy is the 4Runner TRD Offroad and not the premium. Nobody needs a sunroof, and nobody should have one. Have you seen any videos of sunroof maintenance? there's literally a cutter system that runs in 4 different directions with tubes (inside) the 4Runner and drains the water and dirt onto the frame. If just one of those plastic tubes gets clogged or gets a hole, expect stagnated water getting inside and damaging the electric system and upholstery. not to mention, sunroofs aren't covered under warranty, and they can explode under certain weather conditions, plenty of videos on that as well. Knowing this, just try and find a new 2024 4Runner TRD Offroad without dealership mods packed on, you have better luck taking a picture of bigfoot.
I agree. Didn't need a sunroof, didnt need fake leather seats , didnt want to pay 50-60 grand for a TRD......so I bought a base SR5 4x4.....not the Premium. I literallly bought the cheapest 4 wheel drive 4 runner made in 2020 and it costs less that $40k. I have upgraded the tires........and thats it. A blank canvas!
TRD Pro 4R commands a higher resale than other trims. This is the prime reason to buy the TRD Pro plus it’s freakin bad ass.
I have a 2024 trd off road premium that I bought in January when demand was low. I was able to get 5 grand off msrp with no stupid dealer add on. Even though it might not hold value like the pro version, the price delta between my deal and the cheapest pro at the time was nearly 10K, making my deal seem pretty sweet. Plus I got kdss, which is not available on the pro.
@@JackieGleason-kv4xi Getting $5k off sticker is a great win. Nice. 👍
