My man I have never seen a trouser like that😅,ok one question can you train or ran with them ?
I’ve worn both the classic and the comfort craftsman boot. This was back when they were around $350 a pair. I now wear Rossi Colt 503 boots. I think they’re a more comfortable boot, and the leather is much nicer than the RM’s I’ve owned in the past. They’re $400 a pair.
Alden or Crockett&Jones? 🤯
Ummmm.... Depends on the price you can get them and what matters to you. LHS vs Harvard.. I'd go LHS
@@jessupsays Alden Classic vs Crockett Jones boston Classic
Boston is the lined Harvard. Same same
@@jessupsays me podrias decir porque prefieres Los Alden por favor?
Super samba were the top shoe worn by football casuals (hooligans) here in the UK. I have been wearing them since 84 and currently have two pairs.
Anyone interested in the history of Reg Williams and the brand, RM himself wrote some books which are still available. Very interesting read. Beneath Whose Hand is one title.
RM Williams is doing something right. I was having a chat with one of their managers in late 2022, he advised they were making 500 leather belts per day. Just heard from an insider three days ago, that RM are currently making 1,300 belts per day. Nov 2024. From a saddlemaker Down Under.
Couldn’t agree more… I bought my first pair a little over a year ago and now I have 3 pairs… Best fitting most comfortable boots I’ve ever owned and I’m an old timer now, retired. I work part time as an outdoor outfitter three days a week at a very large major sportsman store and there is no other boot or shoes that feels as good. These Indy’s support my feet better than all kinds of athletic shoes I have worn…. I just love these boots….. Excellent video ,your spot on my friend…! Greg
Couldn't agree more! I always think we should look to what our elders wear as they must understand the pinnacle of comfort. You clearly embody that fully! I can't wait to be old and wearing this same pair, just as comfortable.
Well thank you Jesus but it goes bye much faster than you think… LOL Keep doing what you love and wear those Alden’s you have a lot of time left to enjoy them… Seriously, no more comfortable boots I have ever worn…! I’m trying to make up for lost time with these Indy’s…. Enjoy yourself and have many great days…! Greg👍
I used translate. I believe I understand. Yes the Alden is more IVy American, the Crockett more British Ivy. They're very very similar. But the Alden to me is the most comfortable and that's what I'm advising you to do. Find the most comfortable, my guess is it will be the Alden
John doe boots
Hey there! I've watched this video so many times (and your C&J Harvard review is what finally tipped me over buying them). I just rewatched now and noticed you have a very cool pair of olive fatigues in 11:16 (with some brown suede LHS), could you tell us the model and make? Thanks!
Hello! Firstly, I appreciate your time and your consideration. There's nothing like researching then purchasing! I hope that you've been happy with the outcomes so far. Always here if you have more specific questions! Great spotting, one of my favourite pairs from another Melbourne brand - namiman.com.au/products/military-trouser
I'm wondering what size do you wear in these boots? I wear an Alden LHS color 8 which I think the same size you have in size US 7. I would appreciate very much your input or suggestion. thanks

Hahaha 🤣 fair and true. All I can be is honest from my perspective. Glad you appreciate it
It’s worth calling Crown and asking Chris for advice. He will try and help you. I drove down to the factory before I ordered (I only live an hour and a half drive away). Chris measured my feet in multiple places and is modifying a last. I didn’t know it but I have quiet chunky feet so the regular narrower shoes wouldn’t work for me. Laughably all my life I’ve wondered why I don’t fit a size uk9 properly when I’m a smidge over 8 1/2. Too wide even though they don’t look it. So will see how my hand stitch buffalo in blue ink fit in a 9 weeks or so. All the best.
I appreciate the suggestion, crown seem to be a company who cares. Sadly being in Australia, a call is challenging, and an email seems a bit complainty. By the same token, ignoring the problem isn't the solution either. Appreciate your push! Best of luck, getting a shoe that fits properly is quite the experience! Haha 😆 I find most of us don't know until we know. Let me know how they fit!
Thanks for the reply mate. Enjoy the videos keep up the great work.
Great video. Just to add that the dynamic flex is also available in mid brown.
Thanks!
:O What is this?! No, thank you! I don't know the occasion, but I appreciate it very much.
Hi!! Is there any loafers you would recommend under $250. Not trying to break the bank but looking for something decent. Love your channel.
Thanks! I apprecaite the comment and compliment. I would look at Grant Stone and Meermin! Let me know if that helps :)
Do you downsize if you compare Van Last to Aberdeen Last or other Last from Alden?
I have only tried the Trubalance and the Van, and I got the same size in both> Hope that helps.
Nice review. I am waiting fro my rosewood country calf boots which will be with me in few weeks. But I do have an option to pick up one in Walnut Country calf that is readily available now in my size. What's your take on the colour for these boots?
Both are lovely, I'd take both haha 🤣 but they're a bit different to my one. They're a bit more country styled vs my pair. But between them, I personally have always lusted after the Rosewood. There's something special about the way that leather ages. What are you currently thinking??
@@jessupsays . Your boots are more dressier and lovely in comparison to the Galways am looking at. Also loved the colour combination of yours. In terms of dress boots I do have the Charlton Balmoral boot from Crockett and Jones which I love. But had my eyes on Galway's for a while. Plus I am on a boot collecting journey right now. So am getting rosewood for sure as it's in making. Walnut country calf - am almost 90% there, need to convince myself for the remaining 10% :D only a matter of time. But the one which has slowly crept in my my mind is Galway boot in their nightshade antique calf London grain leather. Would look epic. thoughts? One can never really stop at one !
Thank you for saying so. I wanted something unique and dressy, which is what I got. But I can certainly appreciate the other designs they do haha. And other brands too! Enjoy the collecting journey! EG make a lot of really nice products, and the Galway is particularly iconic. And its really comfortable which is a bonus haha. The nightshade is very interesting, its got the purple tone to it. But i think the Country Calf would be more useful if you've got more casual styling. I think the Nightshade is on the sleeker last too? Maybe you get one country, one more sleek? Hahaha. Welcome.
@@jessupsays oh yes, its unique and dressy alright! l have tried the boots and they are comfy indeed. Yours is 82 last or 202 last? 82 is more sleek than 202 I believe. Have you built a good EG collection? I think one can always find use for boots, specially if darker colour :D for the sleek and defined, I lean on my Gaziano and Girling Thorpe boots.. dressy but can be dressed down too :D
Indeed, important to have a range of suitable footwear options right ;) Yes, the 82, and yes the 202 is a bit more 'English Country' as its a bit rounder and shorter looking. Perfect for the Country Calf/ any grained boot. I've just got these from EG, I've tried the Dover and a variety of loafers but never put one on that I really needed/ wanted to own. Except the Galway which I couldn't ignore. The G&G Thorpe is another lovely boot that I've often thought about hahaha. Maybe when I come North and get to London Ill come try things on. Never know!
Apart from Double Monk store in Sydney, are there any other shoe stores that sell quality stylish loafers like the brands you mentioned?
Nothing springs to mind, but I don't know Sydney as well as Melbourne. If you want a store I don't know, for online I have suggestions
Those boots look fantastic! Great dad fits too haha.
Thanks man! 🙏🏼 Doing my best haha they're a great dad boot, but I don't have to convince you haha 😆
The shoe is also unisex. In Europe I got them around €100 but we can have them for less expensive. It’s different from Campus and Gazelle. I wear them because I find them pretty at my feet and they are thin. I think that when you are thin or have a small size having big sneakers does not offer a beautiful rendering...
I agree, anyone can wear an Adidas. They're a great looking and unique shoe. Especially in a sea of Adidas!
Hi mate, does this mean you're not a fan of the Saphir Super Invulner spray for waterproofing?
Fair question, I just prefer not to. Personally. I feel like hides are natural so I try treat them as such. Saying that, I trust saphir products
well now you know your size no need to buy from Double Monk any more...can be had for wayyy cheaper online overseas
Agreed, very fortunate to have them locally to get my size right! And yeah thats true, I always keep an eye out for interesting pairs! But these ones really spoke to me.
Double Monk selling the shell ones for 2k aud... that's just to much
@@tommyinoz2100 I had noticed the recent price increases. And I have to agree with you, its too much.
awesome video! in term of pairing with different clothing, how do you compare this to color8 cordovan and dark brown reverse chamois?
Thank you, appreciated! Hmm, Colour8 can be a bit difficult to wear, though Aldens tends to be super dark almost black, with purple highlights so quite cool. A little less useful for my wardrobe. Dark brown is probably more useful/ the most useful, but I find that for lighter fits it doesnt look anywhere near as good as this light/mid colour.
My guy, you either have to lose a bunch of pounds or size up. It's not 2010 anymore.
Constructive comment?
What's better, in your opinion, rubber or leather soles? Especially if you live in a rainy environment like Vancouver, Canada.
Hmm... Probably a rubber sole with a bit of a lug or some grip on it. Will last longer and hopefully help you not be too slippery. Which leather and some flatter rubber soles tend to be
Don't like the exposed buttons, so where's the placket hiding them? Also, tight fitting cuffs are a necessity I think. I'll take Barbarian brand from Canada over all other rugby shirts. They have heavy weight ones of 12 oz and 8 oz light weight ones for sale.
Not much I can do about the buttons, I personally quite like them. Agreed re cuffs, they're an essential part. Just looked at Barbarian, looks good, hard to source to Australia though, so a challenge I'm sure others will face. If I see them and I can buy them, I'll make sure to get one.
9:14.......United States being the biggest culprit ?
I don't understand the question
Can you cut the tabs off?
Which tabs? The pull tabs? You could, but would be very hard to get on and off haha 🤣
I don't want them riding up on dress pants and showing. If I decide to wear them with a suit. And there are lots of chelsea boots without pull tabs and people get them on fine.
@prabhdeepdhahan1147 well, good luck. I wouldn't, but they're your boots!
@@jessupsays I geuss I'll buy Allen Edmonds Liverpool Chelsea boots instead.
@prabhdeepdhahan1147 hahaha 😂 good idea! Buy the thing that suits you most. Don't follow the crowd.
A bit late but liked the video, would you mind sharing your height weight?
Never late! I'm 174cm or there abouts :)
Hey man have you worn these in rainy/wet conditions, if so how do they hold up?, I've been thinking about getting a pair of Samba Supers but am torn between these and the black leather pair
I regularly wear in the rain! They're pretty grippy to be fair. It's a nice rubber sole. The black pair are super usable, but I've really loved the something different of a blue suede. Haha sorry to be unhelpful on that front.
@@jessupsays Haha fair enough I'm just asking cause I've heard horror stories about people wearing suede shoes in the rain or in wet conditions so just trying to do a bit of research before picking up a pair so I don't get disappointed, also this pair feels super comfy straight out of the box right? Do you feel that there's not much of a break-in period compared to proper leather (if you have worn any leather shoes)? Thanks for the advice
@raghavchandran6462 I've not experienced any problems. Really low quality suede does not survive the rain, but the stuff adidas has used seems to be decent enough. And definitely no break in period like a leather shoe
@@jessupsays After much deliberation, I've decided to go with the black leather pair, simply due to it being cheaper than the suede one, how's the cushioning, like is it a shoe you can wear all day mostly or is it a uncomfortable shoe?
Fair enough! Good rationale, and yes I wear them for a full day with no issues at all. They're a comfy sneaker
Hello, what size you were wearing on here? Thank you

Ok?
Rather than throw my boots away, I’m about to post them off to RM Williams service for a full remanufacture, so just the upper leather remains. Is so smart because these boots were a special gifts, so I’d rather have them remanufactured then buy a new pair of black boots. The process takes 6 weeks for me, so I’ll buy another pair but brown. The worst your RM Williams will look is when you first buy them, so when my boots come back they’ll looks great with plenty of character and my original leather.
This is the way. May you love and wear your boots for many many more years and soles.
Great video! I recently tried wearing each item of clothing only once for a whole month. When I wore everything in a category (e.g. shoes) I was free to wear the whole category. I found it a great way to really asses what I actually like to wear and what items were just placeholders or not fit for purpose. Video idea perhaps?
Thank you! Also, that's a very cool idea! I think I do that subconsciously already hahahaha 😂 keep things interesting. Appreciate the suggestion, I'll have a think about how to approach making a video about the topic!
I’ve got the brown pebble grain city sole 348 version! I’ve never had a corporate job but I’m in the same boat as you in thinking excellent shoes need to be worn and sometimes i personally feel sloppy in trainers particularly in an evening venue! I’m planning on styling mine with chinos and a knitted polo in tans and olives! Nice video!
Thanks for the comment! The pebble grain is so versatile, and will last forever! A great shoe. Wear them in good health
Uniqlo JW Anderson Wide-fit Chino has roughly the same amount of taper to my eye compared to this Chino. It is 100% cotton, unlike Uniqlo's regular slim-fit offering. I suspect the fabric may not be as nice but I don't own a Casatlantic so you try and let me know :))
Appreciate the comment! I've tried them on a while ago, but I can't remember what I thought about them. I think theyd be much better than their standard offering though!
@@jessupsays I was waiting for a sale but Uniqlo is running low on the stock so I was forced to run and get it today :)) Since we're talking about chino, I've been to Informale shop in Melbourne and tried their chino. As a guy with large glute relative to waist (my tailor told me I have a bum of size 34 while my waist is 32), I found that Informale's chino is really small in the bum if I pick the correct waist for myself, while Uniqlo JW Anderson's one is a perfect everywhere. How do you feel about El Jadida's fit in the bum relative to Informale's?
@barinyasere3418 interesting 🤔 I have a similar issue and found their chinos work for me. When I'm home tomorrow I will try them on next to each other and see for you. Shoot me a message on IG? I can share photos etc
full navy was best
Glad you liked it ☺️
Ian Harold better than RM Williams and much cheaper, coming from someone who's owned both and now in 2024 RM Williams prices are even more ridiculous, I'm in Northamptonshire England Trickers and Crockett and Jones are different league to RM Williams
A lot of love for Ian Harold coming out of the UK! And from the HOME of footwear. Very cool to hear it.
I have a medium brown double monks and planning to dye dark brown. I found lighter brown monk straps, too flashy and getting too much attention. Happy to hear your thoughts
I think if you think that, you're probably right. And if they were my shoes I'd probably feel the same way. Dark brown is very versatile and easy to wear, it's classic not flashy
Also, I think we share same views about the derby and Oxford. Thanks
Hahaha 🤣 a fair opinion to hold I think 🤔
What started as a boot that was worn within the Aussie Agricultural sector they are now worn under the pant legs of suits. I use to pay $180 for seconds out of the Frost Rd store when the rrp was $350. 25 yrs on, 3 pairs with multiple sole replacements and wearing them daily I can tell you I’m done - they are too expensive at $650 and the cost to resole keeps the investment ongoing.
Mmm. Hard to argue with that. Sadly they're not offering good value anymore, or insane quality. Just made in Australia, which for me was enough, but with the costs now. Maybe not. I've heard Ian Harold offer a potentially better made in Australia options, worth a look.
Good video ! You might want to consider sizing up a bit though , you shirt is very slim , it makes you look like your holding your breath .. no disrespect just giving an honest unsolicited opinion.
Hahaha I agree. At this point this shirt has moved onto my brother. Hard to know ordering online though
@@jessupsays yep.. I miss the days of going in store and trying on clothes before you buy.
@@treydee8442 The good old days!
These chinos are far too slim at the hem to be "based on 1940s". The rise, however, is closer to the original era and the style----it's just what happens below the knee that strikes me as far less '40s. For comparison have a closer look at The Real McCoy's 1941 (not the Blue Seal Joe McCoy, which is more like these lovely Informale).
These are extremely straight, measured straight. Are you saying they were more of an external taper like a boot cut in those early days?
I had a chance to meet Steve in the Melbourne store a few weeks ago and I was impressed by his (and his team's) knowledge and service. I tried the said OCBD and the quality was like nothing I've felt before. Just wanna pop in here to give another pov compared to my current favourite OCBD by Kamakura. In terms of Informale's shirt sizing, the size 38 fits on me similar to the one you're wearing on the chest area. Having said that, I also love the relaxed vibe size 39 is on my body but sadly the sleeve length is slightly too long for my arms. For the price I needed a bit longer to think so I didn't end up buying it but maybe one day :)) In terms of Kamakura shirt, I have their 'American Sea Island Cotton' OCBD in the size 39-83 Tokyo Slim, which fits me similar to Informale's size 38 with maybe a tad bit shorter sleeves. I'd say the fabric feels equally as amazing and substantial on my skin compared to Informale's but the hand feel on the Kamakura's is slightly less dry when new (with wash I expect them to probably feel similar). The collar length is 8.5cm, which is perceivably shorter than Informale's but still retains a great collar roll. In fact, when I tried the Informale's I felt like if I were to buy it, I'd have to rewire my brain to be familiar with such a long collar. For now I'm satisfied with the 8.5cm I have but who knows in the future I might eventually crave a longer collar length. The buttons on Kamakura's are definitely not as glossy and nice compared to the ones on Informale's. Also obviously has no hand stitching details, but that is not the biggest concern in my mind at this point... yet. Is Informale's better quality? Yes. Do I want to eventually get one Informale shirt after having tried it? Absolutely one day. I hope you'll eventually review a Kamakura shirt but if you do, I reckon you should size up by one compared to Informale's OCBD and also get the 'American Sea Island Cotton' version because it will be thicker with a better drape than the regular cloth. However, absolutely don't hope for a shirt that will match up with Informale's insane quality.
I truly appreciate your comment. I need to take time to digest it and reply! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@jessupsays Also a question to you: Is Berg and Berg's only inferior to Informale's OCBD due to the hand sewn details or are there other aspects as well? I have a few pants from Berg & Berg from their Winter 2023 collection and I was massively impressed by their quality and fit. Given they do 50% after every season, their shirts will be less than half the price of Informale's so I'm considering grabbing one at the end of this season. Also given the massively lower price of Spier and Mackay, how does the quality of their shirts match up to Berg and Berg?
@barinyasere3418 lots of good questions! I will reply to the best of my ability with my thoughts once I've written them !
Thanks again for your comment. I agree with a lot of your points. Mostly to the effect that hand sewing seems like a nice to have not a must have. Except where it comes to the fit and design of the garment, I agree. It's something you and I might share a wink over, but mostly not needed. The Informale shirt is hand cut which means the shape and body is there. So that is a tangible different. But to what price you're willing to pay, is up to you! And I'm sure you will one day as you say. As for berg, from the sounds they are similar to Kamakura. Maybe slightly more ivy? I really rate and enjoy mine. There is a review of it somewhere. But it gets equal love as a daily ocbd. My Informale is still the best at being ironed for a suit, but excluding that. They're both amazing ocbds. And yes I'd pick one up if you can. You won't be upset I don't think 🤔
@@jessupsays Hey Sam, thanks for your reply. Love your content!
Sold my RM Williams and replaced with Ian Harold boots, better built, more comfortable and definitely wear better. And considerably cheaper.
Not the only comment to the same effect. Are you UK-based? It seems Ian has good cut through there, how are you seeing them? Here in AUS, people are patriotic toward RM, but it's also an 'easy' purchase. A well-known brand that people know and 'is quality'. Maybe like Trickers used to be in the UK? I would think IHarold would have a lot of trouble cutting through that.
@@jessupsaysyes , I'm in Northamptonshire borders 20 miles away from Crockett and Jones and Trickers. An Aussie mate told me about Ian Harold he said Australia best kept secret, I had two pairs of RM Williams one tan, the other brown, they were okay but I certainly wouldn't rave about them like some do, and have a cult following in UK mine made stupid money on eBay. As far as I'm aware there's only a few stockists of Ian Harold in UK loads stock RM Williams, I was lucky picked up the Ian Harold on eBay new, unwanted gift, had them two years now and worn them loads, with minimal wear. incidentally I own several pairs of Trickers, 3 Henry, Burford and Stow and a couple of pairs of C and J my personal favourite the Coniston rough out suede boots.
@@richyclubsport5155 Thanks for sharing. I'd been very curious how it was spreading! As I said, It's not done similarly here. Best kept secret indeed! I'll have to save some money or sell some boots to maybe get a pair and shed said light on them! I agree, a suede pair (review coming soon) is my favourite pair of boots right now for sure!
Since these are leather shoes, I'm wondering if adding leather conditioner would soften them up. Basically add conditioner around the ankle area and wear them. I have Lucchese boots and that's usually the procedure when stretching them out. Sometimes you can get it done in store with mechanical intervention but I prefer doing it by wearing them so the boots fits like a glove.
Good suggestion! I've done that on the exterior a few times, but not internally. Worth a shot! I appreciate the comment!
Hm or uniqlo
No question, Uniqlo
Wear my Crockett and Jones Coniston rough out suede boots in all weather in England, the more I wear them the better they look
Apologies for the delayed reply on this and your more recent comment! I have a newborn which has been demanding my attention. I couldn't agree more, suede and roughout are the perfect wet weather material and it does look so good with some hard wear! Especially waxed roughout.
