I'm a firm believer that F (concert Eb) is the best key for trumpet. I think it's because the lead pipe resonates on F. Beautiful resonant sound 10/10.

I played trumpet in middle and high school marching band and believe me, hitting that high C is no joke. The High C climax was a tradition our trumpeters did each home football game and the tough part is not only hitting it but controlling it while up there (similar to Rapa). Great rendition Mr. Rapa!

Daniel Santoyo Likely the B3F-S7 STC-3 weight Monette mouthpiece. Monette sells it for non-Monette horns as well. Think Bach 3C (3.0).

Didn't care for Freddie Jones' version Sept 2022 to open the season. He had spit knocking around the horn for one thing, but for another, just a really spread tone and a hammer for a tongue. But he's a jazz player, and that's what you get. Arturo's version was kind of brash, but that squeal....to control the tone as he did while squealing was impressive. For Adam, you're right, his pitch was right down center, and he's got a great tone. Slurred a lot of it, which made it a bit more lyrical, but a lot of his slurs weren't clean. In some instances that was probably intentional, in others I'm not so sure. I doubt he was very happy with the first few measures when he had to clear spit and bobbled a little bit as a result. Of the three, Adam's version, to me, was clearly the best. Really solid tone, warm vibrato, nice straight, tight, clean version. Would like to see the trumpet used for a Superbowl some time, and he'd do a great job. For my own part - the one and only time I played the national anthem was my worst trumpet-playing disaster by miles. I was asked to play it that afternoon. Didn't have it memorized, our school didn't have a marching band so I didn't really know how to memorize music. Went home, wrote it out, stuck it in the lyre and practiced for some time. Sounded good, got my phrasing/breathing down, had no problems, felt good about it. Then I went to the game, and they made me stand in the press box in front of a microphone to play. Completely dark. "Do you guys have lights in here?" "No." Perfect. I 100% needed to see the music and I'm in a completely dark room. Then I asked that they not announce my name, and immediately after, they announced my name. Back in those days my nerves were overcooked noodles. I needed anonymity. Anyway, I got about as far as "Perilous" before I had to pull the chute. I got through the first verse well enough, then my guessing got bad, then really bad, and I cut it off before I ever got near "and the rockets' red glare". I walked home three miles that night to punish myself for ruining the national anthem. It was embarrassing but I felt such deep shame. As an adult, I would have either stepped outside the pressbox to play (screw their microphone, it was unnecessary), or insisted on light. As a 16/17-year old kid....nope. Gee I'm glad I just remembered that.....

the thing about Arturo playing the anthem, the irony of his back story, and the fact that he's a Cuban immigrant, and a true American. But to think in our crazy world today, people like him, talented, ambitious, persistent artists, may not even get a chance to immigrate into our country to make such great art.

KingAtari It's a heavyweight Monette, Monette builds them like that so that there is no gap from the mouthpiece rim to the receiver and leadpipe
