A Finn surviving in Glasgow.
HOW TO MAKE FINNISH KARELIAN PIES | Karjalanpiirakka
Thank you so much for watching!
Karelian pies are a traditional Finnish savoury food. It's basically a rye crust filled with rice pudding.
I had so much fun making this! This recipe gives about 20-30 pasties, depending on how big you make them. I'm Finnish, but currently living in UK which is why some of the ingredients may not be 100 % authentic. But as you can see, you can still make these even if you're not in Finland! ;)
I made this video to go with my blog. Check it out here: newhomeabroad.wordpress.com

The rice pudding reminds me of kheer, a very famous Indian Cuisine. Love from India..
I only bake them for 10 minutes.
Brilliant!
Anyone here from little witch academia?
In sweden rice pudding is called mannagrynsgröt.
Is it normal rice? Or something porridge type of rice
Cute editing with the music change (particularly when the rice pudding finishes 😂)
This isn't the way of making those.... Huoh
Eu vim por causa do Kiko Loureiro
Wonderful video!!!
I went to Finland years ago and fell in love with those! They are SO delicious!!! And it looks fairly easy to make, I'll give it a try for sure :)
Yay!! If I can make them, you can make them haha
You should brush the edges with milk and butter so they don't get hard when baking
What kind od flour did you use?
Flour & Rye Flower
From now on I will only watch recipes with stars shining when the results appear on screen hahahahahaha
Thanks for this!
I'm glad if it was helpful!
Skimmed milk and no copious amounts of butter. Oof.
Oh so this is how they're done. The side of my family that are Finnish always make me these for as long as I can remember, it's embarrassing to admit I had no clue on how to make them up until now. But then again, I was raised in Australia and this isn't usual Aussie cousin, but Finnish food is far more nicer, I believe personally. Good video!

Thanks so much! They're surprisingly easy to make! I'm terrible at cooking and I can do them so that's saying something haha
@@Jaguatiricaa Your video and comments are giving me (a total cooking novice) a lot of confidence! Not Finnish but I love eating these, I want to make them. :)
Finland is amazing and their food, too.
I like to add boiled eggs and and to mine 👍
You mean boiled eggs and butter mixture on top? That is good. I also like cheese spread on top of them. You know cheese that you can spread like butter.
I so want to try this recipe! Also the video is so funny! Love the humor in it, it made me so happy and giggly ^ u ^
Aw thanks!! You really should try and do let me know what you think!
If you add sugar and cinnamong to the milk and rice that would be arroz con leche, a venzuelan dessert! nice vid!!!!
+wallesky valenzuela Thanks! I have to try that :)
Try and tell me!
