We rented a VHS video camera (yes the clunker ones) and videoed this day at Sierra High School, Colorado Springs, CO. Forward to 1:11. Enjoy!! This is one of three videos.. be sure to watch all three!!
How many times was school cancelled due to physical assaults, drug busts, drunken students roaming the hallways, classrooms getting fire bombed, etc.? I'm a HHS graduate of the other high school in the district and both schools sucked.
This was a cool school, all different types of kids being together

I remember when my aunts friend sent her the 3 videos to this. This was her senior at sierra high in Colorado… she’s 50 now🥺
Time flies. I passed out of high school in 1998 and am 42 years old. I never think of my age unless something like this pops up in my UA-cam feed and I realize what was yesterday is now so far away. It hits hard. Hope your aunt had a great life after school and is keeping healthy. Regards.

At 29:25 just like that to me, watching this, these beautiful young ladies are all probably grandmothers now. I'm 51 and graduated in 1989. I'm not a grandfather but do have 2 grown children. When I see my friends from those days of FB it's so strange.
Well, that's for sure. At least 50% of the ladies in the graduating class were knocked up at the time.
Shell at 30:43 was beautiful and hard to grasp it's such a lively moment as 32 years ago. She is probably a mother of grown children now and maybe a grandmother. Unreal. Great times. I graduated in 89. The girl in the Bud LIght shirt never happens today and the guy wearing the 6 Pack Lakers shirt repreenting their 6 total tiles at the time, so cool.

I remember a lot of these kids... I cant believe how old we are now. This is the year I was kicked out for "smoking in the boys room". Caught by mr. walker. Baker the vice principal was scared I would tell the board that he asked the jocks to "do what you have to do to stop bathroom smoking"..... I told him I had witnesses. I was thrown out for my 1st offense. He was canned the next year I hear.... then I heard about Mr. Brunner( I think) killing his wife, going to work and leaving her body in the shower for their kid to find. Pretty weird place sierra was.
2:00 I drove that same car to school the year before, but no stripes, and a better shade of red.

I just wanted to comment on how much I appreciate these videos. I was only 6 years old when this was recorded (36 now!), but I have a good memory of my childhood and what I remember of the 80s is very clear. I am not from anywhere near Colorado, but it just a really nice reminder of how people used to be. I wish things could still be like this.

Man, even though I was only 8 at the time, I'd probably say that April 1989 was the best month of my life. After living in a suburb that bordered on rural for my entire life while enduring poverty, my mom and dad split so mom, my older bro, and I moved in with my grandma a few towns over in a back house in an idyllic old money area rife with magnolia trees and chirping birds. It was right at the point when spring was emerging and all plants were freshly blooming, the air smelled sweet, and it felt like I'd been dropped into some charming RPG video game. My new school ended up easily being my favorite of all which I attended and life just couldn't have been much better.
